POTPOURRI

           Gracie, cheesh! Take a chill pill. You are actually sounding like a looney tune, truly gone off the track. Take it down a level or two or I will have to do with you as your master and leader has done to so many - and cut you off from the blog. And for the rest of you who think your comments are oh so deep and full of thought, get a life or else why not do something brave and bold and actually read the blog postings that your lord and master mangles and blocks from you. Reading the whole posting will actually give you some food for thought other than the pap that you are allowed. Spit out the Kool-aid and come back to sanity. Otherwise, you might as well realize that all of you - David et al bother me none and indeed, give cause to laugh, always a plus in this sad mad world we live in.
     Just took my sister to the airport, on her first leg of a journey back to Israel so a bit down, but will speak as usual, every day when the journey is over. In the meanwhile, I read the paper and wonder just what is the matter with people today. It used to be that the two parties would work together with some differences, large and small, but now even within a party there are major differences and nothing but nothing gets done. Even the Republicans realize that they are not in the catbird seat despite their ostensible majority, because they simply cannot agree. So what happens? Who knows and isn't that a sad commentary on the once great and decisive  USA.
     Then we take a look at the business section of the paper and realize that everything else is changing so quickly that one day we will  all be lost! Read about social networks, just for the specific area, something that would be great for a community like ours, wherein we could chat with each other, trade notes, advice, recommendations, right? Well, yes and no. Today I read about one called YIK YAK that works with a radius of about one and a half miles and what have people done but go and use it for racial, ethnic, religious, sexual, and misogynist remarks. What the hell is the matter with people today?
     So then another article about cables and broadband, etc. and it seems that cable companies will be the ones in control with that so what are we doing here, talking about dealing with CSI, a mystery company, and ceding authority to it when the whole word is changing  so that it pays to back off a bit and let the dust settle and the big boys have their say and then we little guys can figure out what is best for us. Save our money and wait.
     Finally, just when we bought several new computers for ourselves, we read of the advances of something called quantum computers and computing using words I never heard of but hey, they make great Scrabble words as they begin with "qu", and words with q are always great to have.
     The nut jobs out there are busy killing and beheading people but very few have the courage to speak honestly and openly and call them what they are - Islamist terrorists, but suddenly the world screams when this same crew starts destroying cultural artifacts that can never be replaced. That is terrible, true, but does it not make sense to be at least a bit more angry and decisive in one's actions against these terrorists when we talk about the people they have killed, kidnapped, maimed and oppressed. After all, a person can never be replaced either!!
     Just a few of my thoughts on the world today. Thank G-d for friends and family.
