THE MEANING OF JULY 4TH

Fireworks and barbecues. Sales and beach. Karaoke by the pool - and food allowed! A quiet walk along the beach - or around the perimeter. Visits from family and friends. All that and more.
But July 4th means a lot more than that. We celebrate the birth of our nation, a contentious birth with many disssenters. Some people signed and others did not. Setting an example for the rest of our history, we were split amongst rebels and Loyalists, fierce revolutionaries and calmer conciliatory people. We all know the result of the war but things have not changed. Throughout our history we have had civil disruptions and disagreements, even as we sometimes slaughtered each other for disagreeing - from Shay's rebellion to the Civil War to America Firsters  to the Bund to relocation for Japanese citizens and down to the little spots - like CV in West Palm Beach.
I cannot truly fathom why our eminent fearful leader is so afraid to talk to others who are not yes men to him other than that he IS fearful and afraid. But afraid of what? Afraid of losing power? That power is only temporary and could - actually has - gotten him into trouble. Afraid of losing a legacy? He is so surrounded by his sycophants that he does not hear the talk about him at gatherings anywhere in the Village. What has happened to David Israel is asked all the time. What is wrong with him? I don't understand what or why he is acting liking this and on and on.
David Israel, for your own sake, open up to people. Hear the voice of others for it is a true fool who only listens to the voices in his head and those of his unthinking coterie surrounding him. Why ruin what you might leave behind by plodding on with outdated ideas and refuse to see that there are other ways and means, other roads that are better for the Village? By seeking out other opinions you then co-opt others and we have a calmer and more productive UCO, a better Village and no need for lawsuits which you have brought down upon yourself.
There is no process nor procedure in UCO. There is talk, talk, talk and even when something needs to be done ASAP it takes twice as long (and I am being generous here) because of this lack of process and procedure. I do not believe there is one person in the upper rungs of UCO who has true administrative experience, yet you refuse to reach out to those who have.
The mountain that is crumbling beside you will come down over you if you do not see the light and it all comes back to you and your followers who blindly go where you go. You are not Naomi and the Village residents are not Ruth. We do not have to follow you whither thou goest. Think about a better way, a better life and have the courage to step forward, admit a mistake, ask for peace, invite the rest of the Village to join in, open up seats on Committees by limiting the number of committees people can join - now it appears to be infinite, with the same names repeating like a doomed mantra.
July 4th means freedom - freedom of speech, of press, of religion, of redress for grievances and you alone cannot negate the Constitution. Remember that.

HAPPY JULY 4TH TO ALL.
