A WISE WOMAN, NOT SO AMAZING GRACE?

First, before I get into the meat  of this posting, I would like to thank David for agreeing with me about the announcement about raising money for Navah, an organization in Israel that tends to those who need help in times of war and terror. Many generous people have already given me checks and I thank you in the name of those who will benefit by it. In the meanwhile, please keep in mind and in your prayers, Hadar ben (son) if Hedva Leah and may he be returned quickly, whole and healthy in mind, soul, and body.
And now, I hate to do this today, but if I let this go, then who knows where it will end up. Today's meeting was going really well until David Israel objected to the points that Jean Dowling made as to the benefits of wiring up one's own building and the opting out, which a bit later on Ed Grossman explained . In both cases David Israel objected from his chair on the podium, thus violating Robert's Rules of Order, a manual which he quotes from all the times as justification to shutting people down at the mike. Now it seems he does not always like it!
There was a back and forth which was not so pleasant and friendly as had the meeting been prior to that and part of it was due to the fact that David objected to what Marcia Ziccardi, a VP, had to say about the Wi Fi and other issues, such as renters being on committees and it being against our bylaws, and non elected people heading three very important committees - Bid, Advisory and Security - which is really wrong and then David telling Marcia to basically shut her mouth in similar words and a hostile tone. That stunned the audience at the time. He gave Jean a hard time too.
In the meanwhile, once again this mysterious group of 5 or 6 was accused of doing all sorts of things to the Village but there were a heck of a lot more than 5 or 6 who applauded the options put forth as opposed to the plan of David Israel. So I would like an explanation please.
Now, on that blog, not so amazing Grace says these are the words of a wise woman. Well, if this is a wise woman, I hesitate to meet a not so clever one! It consists of the same old tired arguments that do not really hold water and now we are hearing more and more of the shills spouting off with the don't transfer the money; we will find another way to make up the shortfall. Never mind what David Israel said in the Finance meeting!Sure you will - by raising the fees. And by the way, people voted against the Wi Fi far more than they voted for it! And also by the way, the delegates are not to be instructed to vote as THEY see fit but as their association sees fit and that is a big difference.
Next we come to that teeny little point. First, the fake, oh we care about the needy and then the nasty - we are not a community of indigents. You are right. We are not and need to make sure so that all these apartments that are abandoned are not replicated. Under whose auspices were these apartments deserted? Why was there no help for the associations until this year and why was a person who came in to talk about what his company does with foreclosed apartments made to feel like a criminal? As a matter of a fact, we are using him for one apartment and so far he is trustworthy and working well with us and we expect to have a contributing apartment quite soon.
In any case, the pressured people we are worrying about now are those who bought in years ago and had the money and assumed they would have enough till end of life. Now they find they are living much longer so what do we do - throw them out? Take over their apartments? Tell them to die?
Not so amazing Grace, think before you write. Seriously, thinking is a good idea, might even light up your soul and heart. Try it; you might like it. I highly recommend it - and soon as possible, please.
Just one more question. why is it so important that it be outside the units? Is anyone planning to sit on the roads and use their computers or dance with their ipods? It can be picked up outside anyway, right now, but why that concern?
Oh, got it! We are going to be the new Silicon Valley for the elderly and so they must all sit outside on the grass and roads to show how clever they are! See how dumb the whole thing is? You will if you think my not so amazing Grace. Want to go for that coffee?
