LET THE TRUTH OUT

There are people in the Village who are walking around telling others that David Israel is the greatest thing since ice cream was invented. He is the lifeblood of this Village, they say, and has won his third term, citing that fact to bolster their statements. Well, let us go with the facts as they are in truth and understand how the Village reached this sad point, the nadir, the low point, to which we have fallen.
In the first election, David Israel won by two votes, yes, two. Not an overwhelming endorsement. In the second election, David was a minority winner. What does that mean? It means that he did not have a true majority of votes, only that he had more than the other two candidates who had, without forethought, split the anti David Israel vote. The two of them together had more votes than David Israel, thus, he was NOT wanted by a majority of the Village. That was a shame, but because that was what happened, there he was again.
Now there were to be two candidates or however many running for president in the last election. It was meant to be two new candidates, not David Israel as term limits applied, but using chicanery and manipulation, waiting till only his non thinking delegates were the only ones around, David Israel overturned what had been fact in the Village since the establishment of UCO - a term limit of two terms and then out into other roles. Term limits is the way to go with all governmental administrations. Just take a look at Palm Beach County and at other governments around the country. It is meant to obviate and nullify any power building by incumbents to the detriment of the electorate, such as our residents. It was meant to allow fresh air, new views, ideas and methods into the government but evidently, not here in CV.
So now we had a truly wrong third term run, scaring people off what with his entrenched power and threats to replace and move people from their positions of "power" unless they supported him and then there was no one to oppose him. Suddenly, though, there was one, an unknown, out of the blue - me. I ran because others asked me too. I ran because David Israel had subverted UCO to his own tool, a Tammany Hall version, corrupt and no good for us. It was an administration that had brought us - and kept us - to physical wrack and ruin with the immensely faulty road and paving job, with awful perimeter walkways that are still uncorrected and actually dangerous. (Talk about lawsuits waiting to happen! Just go take a walk and watch your feet.) It had used shady financial practices and principles, by passed our bylaws and delegates and then turned around and blamed others, including the delegates for the mess we were and are in.
David Israel began to run scared as the opposition to him grew. People were tired of the financial beating we were taking, of the nastiness to be found in UCO itself, at the hubris of this man and of the dishonesty and slick misbehavior by his supporters? puppet master? So, what had he to do? Simple, shut down the gates of discussion. No debates. No WPRF areas to be open to the campaign including the heart of the Village - the Clubhouse. Clubs were threatened with loss of rooms and times if they allowed opposition speakers to visit and speak. Quite a number refused to listen and guess what - they still exist and function. No campaign broadsides were allowed to be distributed. The paper became and still is, now, a rag sheet, a propaganda instrument for David Israel, forgetting the principles of journalism. Anything and everything was done to limit exposure of this unknown candidate,
Yet at election time, 112 votes were garnered and in conditions that were not conducive to an honest and open election, to a transparent balloting system and to the counting of the votes. Nor was there a transparency in allowing for a viewing of the ORIGINAL papers of the election. And why? Simply because there was too much to discover. We had exposed issues during the day and they did not want more to be exposed, for sure.
So now the choice is up to the Village. Do you want this man who has brought us close to financial ruin, who is willing to push us over the top with a million to two million dollars unnecessary and unwanted by many project of Wi Fi, when we already HAVE Wi Fi and can work with other, less costly options? Take a look at the OPT OUT program. It works. It has been used in many associations and others are in the works, but people you must act quickly for your own sakes.Do you want this uncaring and secretive and abusive administration to continue? Do you want this unhelpful administration to continue and leave the residents and associations out in the cold, so to speak?
What to do? Return term limits to the Village ASAP. Engage an outside and impartial agreed upon entity to run the election with no one from the Village having any part in its organization or running. Insist on a proper budget this year, an austerity budget with no unnecessary projects so as to keep the increases in fees to a minimum and to help us climb out of our financial shortfall and actually begin to save money at our old rate of a quarter to a half million dollars a year towards a new road  paving and drainage job, a good one, a real one, a responsible one. The necessity will arise much sooner than we had planned.
Whoever is to run in this next election and the following one - we must allow for fresh blood, new ideas, fresh air. And no, this is NOT a campaign notice. I am just fine being a gadfly, following a proud and long standing American tradition of trying to right the wrongs of ineffective and crooked administrations. And why am I not partaking in UCO, on committees, writing letters and articles for the paper? Ho, ho, ho. Go ask David Israel that. Go ask Joy Vestal that same question. They have unilaterally decided and STATED that I will never be allowed to contribute in that manner. So, time for him and his stooges to go.

       RECALL OR RESIGNATION.
