LAST DANCE, LAST CHANCE

For years that was the last song played at the dances and parties I chaperoned. When its first notes were played by the DJ the kids knew that was it and suddenly everyone was on the floor, dancing and singing, knowing it was the last chance for fun that nite. Donna Summers lives on in those memories.
Well, our last dance is today, the day before the elections. Today is the day that associations will have to make sure that delegates know how they are to vote and the Reformist Party here in the Village is hoping that we can make a dent in the power of the political machine that we now have in place. We know that the situation and its structure sets the odds against us, but are hoping that the signs we have seen over the past year and a half will make dents in our own Tammany Hall, or Chicago style politics here in the Village.
But whatever happens, this IS NOT OUR LAST DANCE. As I have written and said many times before - I - WE - are NOT going away. We have invested much of our energy and time and money into trying to better this Village and will not back away - not within UCO nor without.
Tomorrow is the last dance, the last official chance this year for the delegates to send a message to the self presumed dictator for life that we are eating away at his realm, chiseling away at its warped foundations and are working towards correcting the errors of the past and ensuring a better, stronger future for CV.
When we begin to get our people into place then there will be no last dance and no last chance, for within UCO we will be the Reformist Party, the group of people who will challenge, demand answers and justifications, get the books of UCO opened, and fight for our finances to be righted and balanced. We will demand that process and procedure are the rules of the day and insist that no frivolous expenditures take place. There will be no more 15 minute Exec. Bd. or officers' meetings wherein all we have is no discussion and only rubberstamping.
This year will be the basis, the springboard of a campaign - one that will never let up - to oust David Israel, his henchman, Ed Black, and all other non thinking followers - just throw them out at every chance we get. Those who are willing to forgo their perks of the past and ready and able to do real work, honest work for the benefit of our Village - well, welcome aboard! Others - GO Away! Non elected officials must be replaced. Volunteers are welcome as they work for the betterment of the Village but the Reformist party believes in NOBODY building a platform for personal advancement and benefit.
Term limits must be in place. Proper new and updated by laws that do not favor the powers in place, that must be fair and impartial, must be written, in a transparent manner with a new and more varied committee. In fact, all committees must be opened and gain fresh and new ideas, new blood, new minds, strong voices that demand action and answers.
Join us in supporting those who have stood up against the "all powerful wizard of Oz". Join us in ushering in the onset of a new beginning for CV. Join us in sending a message that will hit home. It is almost not even a question of winning, but of making a point, as it did last year when David Israel ran scared and mushed out all the dusty delegates who never showed up before. His political machine is well organized, but a sudden opponent, against all odds, gained 112 votes, despite blackouts of open debates and arenas of publicity and the swing vote was a matter of 35 votes. David Israel, remember, was a MINORITY CANDIDATE WINNER IN 2012. The two other candidates split the vote and David had more than either, but not the majority, and  together they had more than he had - the Village was already tired of him. Now we are EXHAUSTED from him and of him and the damages he has inflicted upon us - so come, get there early and VOTE.
And again, whatever the results, congratulations to all who engaged in the good fight, and take a deep breath and continue on.  Let us make this the last Dance and the last Chance of David Israel and Co. Join us. Term limits, no fourth term, clear away the cobwebs and bring in sunlight and fresh air.  Join us. "And the Beat goes On!"
