Yesterday I caught a line or two in a show that summed up the whole issue here in the Village. In summing up what the American flag represented, the main character stated that, "The American flag represented, stood for, the freedom from repression and freedom of expression." I repeat. "From repression, of expression".
And that, dear friends, says it all. This is what we are fighting for, demanding the return of it to the Village and the "short, sharp shock" that needs to be felt by those who deny the values of our flag. As a way in which to help you understand literature and culture, Gilbert and Sullivan wrote wonderful operettas, but all mainly parodying society and in using allegories and metaphors to put forth their ideas. The shock of which they speak is the shock when these people are suddenly, quickly, unexpectedly (in their opinion) removed from office and all positions of power and if beheading was used, well, executions were way more common in those times for crimes against society, right or wrong, but in today's world, in the world of bright and understanding people, the metaphor is understood to mean exactly what I said so please, do not show your ignorance and bombast once more when trying to state that Stew, a kind and gentle man, wants to behead you guys. We simply want to remove you from office - quickly, ASAP, STAT, to behead UCO of one of its worst managers in its history, one who denies the values of our flag though he oh so publicly salutes it after years of pledging like the rest of us. A soldier he ain't - not now, and not in the name of me or anyone else who values the freedom from repression and the freedom of expression.
You see, it is that simple. Trying yet again, I hope to see the light of understanding finally blossom on the faces of the most stubborn or non seeing delegates. This is a piece of America. The CVWPB is in America and thus subject to all rights and regulations laid out in the Constitution and Federal laws, as well as the local laws. Those laws, particularly the Federal ones, give us the right to express our feelings, to be free from repression, to have free and open access to media and all means of expression, particularly and even more so in a time of political exchange. This is exactly what we are being denied right here in the Village and when those who do not understand this simple fact go on mindlessly applauding the very man who takes away YOUR rights as well, for remember, Animal Farm has those who are "more equal than others" and believe me, folks, we - me and you - are not among those privileged pigs who so cruelly rule society and "disappear" their opponents.
This is what it is all about and the rest is simply the embroidery of these issues. It is simple, David Israel and all those who cling to him like limpets, thinking their future is writ on his face, are terribly and dangerously mistaken. And why do people harp on his deeds, his statements, his lies, his errors - verging on the criminal at times - his manner of dress and physical stance? Because it all shows an attitude - about himself and about us, the residents. And before you ask what verge on criminal, just think back to the accusations he made against a man who had helped so many through the hurricanes and their aftermath and how he had to write a letter rescinding his accusations and admitting his errors or else face charges in court, civil as well.
As for the latest issues arising from his clothing. The majority of the residents here are women. That is a fact of life and as such, women are more sensitive, especially in this day and age when backwards and repressive ideas and attitudes about and towards women are returning or rather, sinking, back to the times of the Middle Ages and worse. So - a man who feels he has no need to show respect for all, a man who gets his more decent clothing from Barbara Cornish who bought him his sports jackets that he has retired and his three new shirts - the red, the blue and the green - a man who feels he must display what fills his garments, is a man who has severe doubts about himself and a man who has repressive and oppressive attitudes and feelings towards others, particularly women. I, myself, do not look at his nether regions when he sits at a meeting but I do know that many women find it disconcerting and repulsive, as well as insulting, so, David, maybe Barbara can buy you some dressier and better fitting shorts - though you certainly have enough money of your own to buy them - but whatever works is fine - and let us concentrate more on what is bundled within the heart, mind and soul and what the true issues are here - our rights as Americans, plain and simple.
"Freedom from repression, freedom of expression" - that is it and no matter how you try to cover it up - that is what you are denying to us here in the Village. You spit on American values when you do this, you showcase the values of the coin of communism/fascism, you show the contempt you have for others, particularly those who do not "get" your supposed brilliance and éclat. Well, perhaps it is best that YOU get back to the program, get a life, and realize that your time is done, had better be done if we, as a Village, are to survive and if it appears to you as a "short, sharp shock" well, then that is only because you are denying the growing wishes of many. And if our ridiculous delegate system of voting returns you to office as these few ruin the day for the majority of the residents, then so be it but understand that we, the opposition, will never stop and one way or the other will change this system and get thee gone. Simple. Short. Sharp. And Lanny, go buy another pie. And take that smelt along with you. That is a good job for you and obviously David Israel, who thought that the original CV blog site was wasted on people who asked questions of help and advise such as where to find handymen of all sorts and shut it down to open his own slanted one, evidently feels that a paean to a bakery is of great importance. Weird, very weird. DOUBLE OY!!!
