THE UNFATHOMABLE

Almost from the time we can first speak until the very end, we are always asking questions. It is how the human race advances, by asking questions and then finding the answers for them. Unfortunately not all questions have answers as of yet but it does not stop people from asking. And there are many going unanswered.
There are trivial ones, and some fun ones, but here are a few which puzzle me. Here is one from a Security Committee meeting:
   6. Changes in Decal Lane use
a. Regularly seen Vehicles (ECM, AT&T & Uverse, Comcast & Xfinity) b. Decals for Employees regularly entering the
Village. (Medical Center, Maintenance
Companies, Valley Crest and Glow.

Here we are trying to get a leak proof security, at least as far as we can take it, David Israel tells us solemnly that "they" are here and what do we do? Why we let anyone in who has a familiar truck, one that is often seen around the Village. No checking of the driver? No checking if this is a legit errand or someone who took the truck and is on his way to a lovely day of theft and robbery. Why, if we want to truly be good neighbors, why do we not set up a speedy exit lane only for them? This is NOT how to solve the long lines at the gates. Emphatically not. Give bar codes to long term leasers of cars who are residents here instead of giving them a hassle. Surely they are more trustworthy than said drivers and said trucks!! Another brilliant idea! Always trust UCO to do that.
How about why David Israel hardly ever emerges from his cave of a room? Is it his man cave? Is he afraid of open spaces? Well, there are shrinks and remedies for that. Is he afraid to actually meet and talk to people - in a decent and respectful manner? Could very well be but again all speculation and no answers.
Why do the officials and officers of UCO hardly ever go to a show in the Clubhouse. I see the Cornishes there and John Hess who works as an usher but the rest? In the wind! How can we ever get the residents to come to shows, to fill the theater for some truly wonderful shows, if their own supposed leaders never bother to show up? Another mystery?
Where is the progress and improvements that David Israel and crew boast about. He has been president for six years and let us see what we have gained. Okay....Yes, we are using email. An idea whose time had come, so great and it is installed and , and.... uh.....Aha! The changing of the water from clear blue, reflecting the blue skies above, the water where there were so many cute little turtle heads swimming around, where fish could be seen swimming and setting up little areas of their own, where green was the color of the surrounding shrubbery and not the water. Definitely an accomplishment but certainly not a positive one.
The great skill and magical manipulation of over $5 million to make it disappear without a concrete result. Sorry, could not resist the pun. You may all groan. Our roads and perimeter walkway needed redoing, yes, but we did not have all the money nor the right company nor the right job. As a result we now, a short few years after a job which should have lasted for at least 15-20 years, we now have a roadway that is decrepit, full of deep and ever growing and multiplying cracks, where actual holes are developing, a walkway which actually gives us "hills" to walk up where the pavement is raised due to roots and whatever, and the sand and pebbles of the roadway are multiplying and amassing, all the better for a person or bicyclist to slide on and go Boomp! Hey, just like when we were kids, huh, except we do not recover the same way. So why was it done this way and what are the future plans - well, depends on who is answering and on what day!
Wi Fi. Oh yes, that old chestnut keeps raising its wiry little head. (Sorry, pun again). The Village voted NO, resoundingly, for a Village wide project and many associations wired up themselves but David insisted on using a company that had already failed in Boca, to spend millions on it and thank G-d we were able to vote it down but here comes Broadband, another version. When will this man ever realize that we do not need nor want it right now and there are so many other projects that are more important and dire.
What, you might ask? Okay. How, after six years, has this man and crew brought our Village to the point where quite a number of associations are heading into receivership! Yes, it is happening as we speak. Many are buildings where the Board has now become non existent or so aged out of it that they are tired, very much so, after doing this for 15 and 20 years and getting no help from UCO, no advice until they are desperate and hence the receiverships. WPRF insists on their pieces of silver, taking what they can get rather than working with people to sell units and get them back in the flow.
Where is the inclusion? The transparency? The honesty? Where is the sense of community? Gone, gone. Instead we have an officer who spends his time looking for ways to call down the government on opponents for daring to be just that - people who oppose what he has done to our home. He has called Code Enforcement on a unit in the Village - and boasted of it - but tsk, tsk, it was for naught, though the synagogue was affected. He has become a megalomaniac of the nth degree as he believes that he can and should control all outlets of information both within and without the Village. He, who dared to use the excuse of sacrilegious, thinks that it is okay to call me "rabbi" in a nasty tone and a snide intent. Really? Now that is sacrilegious and backfired on him and his big mouth. Why is this man allowed to control all within UCO, even where he should not? Why are his groupies so afraid of him? Why can they not grow up, man and woman up and do the right thing? All unfathomable. Sadly so.

There are so many more questions but there are even more serious ones out there in the larger world and here is one. Ask why a Swedish Foreign Minister can make anti - Israel remarks in a blatantly prejudiced manner, taking them to task for killing their attackers, for doing the very same thing that the French and indeed Sweden did when they had the camp attack? Why is an American kid allowed to paste this on someone's Facebook page-
Go Murder some Palestinian children so you can have their parents arrested and move into their home,” Mendez wrote. “Greedy lifeless pieces of s--- people. Capitalist colonizers who steal and kill from other races to promote your dead ideologies.”
“F---ing Jews,” she wrote. “GTFOH [Get the f--- out of here] with all your Zionist bulls---, ” Mendez wrote.
“I live in the ghetto, and if you’re a Jew, you’re white. Not black, not middle eastern [sic], not Asian — white. Being a Jew is not a race — it’s a faith system that keeps you inbreeding long enough to believe you’re preserving your race, and keeps you thinking you’re entitled to take someone else’s land.”

This is not free speech. This is hate speech, hate mongering and this person should not have a job in the UCLA system and should be removed from office and even campus as have others for daring to dress as Kardashians or bangers or Mexicans with big sombreros  - overkill, maybe, but where do we stop? With criticism and filth about Jews? Remember - it may stop and start here but it never ends there and as go the Jews, so goes the rest of the world. And sorry, SC, if this offends your sensibilities, that I get upset at this, but such is life and such is my blog.
The world is a dangerous place right now what with groups of people attacking others, with countries invading, with millions on the roads and who knows how to trust and vet these people so we do not get more explosions and torn bodies, so our women are not attacked and groped in a practice known as Taharrush - yes, there is even a name for it. The world is dangerous and scary, right wings returning in an extreme manner and do not think that this is not so here in America. Just listen to our candidates. At least let our home be an island of peace, of sanctuary. If only, if only....
