Before I even get around to posting the planned blog, I must add on this prescript. Once again we are mourning an act of outrageous terrorism perpetrated on the citizens of Israel out for an evening, a right of any human being. And once again the world, aside from a few who saw what must be seen and who spoke out, including Hillary Clinton, the world refused to see truth - and why? Because it was only Jews again. CNN refused to call it terrorism, using marks around the word, British media called it a "shooting" and the NY Times called it a shooting that the Israeli police "said" was terrorism as if the police in Israel are liable to make up terrorist murders and killings! "According to Israel’s emergency medical service Magen David Adom, 34 people have been killed and 460 wounded in more than 285 terrorist attacks since September 13. The figures were last updated on Tuesday." Now add in yesterday's total. Will it never end? I had to chase down my family there, those in the Tel Aviv area, to make sure they were safe. It is not a pleasant feeling to have to do this. And yet, I expect to have to do this again as the world refuses to see truths and engages in hate. Till when???

Now for the planned posting.
I could be wrong. I could be off by $10 or $15 but the point is made - our increase next year simply for UCO and WPRF could be as much as that and we have not included the raises necessary for your association. So why this huge number and why now? Where were the raises all along? What do we need this money to do for us? Read along and see the truth. Our reserve fund is massively underfunded. We have been here before with this UCO crew and here we are again. Even the Treasurer has acknowledged and stated as much for several years already that we need more funding of the reserves, that if we do not do it we will be bitten in the keister. Well, did anyone listen? Yes, some who saw the truth, but the lemmings of David Israel and Ed Black just kept jumping off the cliff and accepted the budget as is.
Well, now we are in a real pickle and no, not the kind that can be savored. Rather it is the one that you wish could be avoided. The bills have come due. The bell is tolling and our lovely home is at risk.
We have crumbling roadways that will demand a huge job and a corresponding payment. Where is the money? Show me the money? Sorry, ain't there.
We have a broken irrigation system that has been patched and patched, throwing good money after bad and now it is too late and the whole shebang needs to be replaced. Show me the money! Sorry, ain't there.
We have patched and patched the coolers for the Clubhouse after using some firm that is now out of business - great choice and now they need to be replaced or the Clubhouse will be unusable. Been there done that. Not again. So show me the money! Ain't there again!
The tennis courts continue to fall into a depression, poor things and our piecemeal fixing has been useless in the final chapter. The courts are not smooth, leads to falls and complaints from the Tennis Club and the pickleball players. So someone actually raised the idea of Har Tru courts so that league play can be held here. Yes, fix the courts, but no, not to the tune of half a million bucks, not when the infrastructure that keeps us in one piece is far gone. Self funding for the Tennis Club is a way to go. Show me the money here? Ain't there either.
The elephant in the room, or rather in the outdoors - our waterways, those gunked up canals and lakes, the stink that rises from back canals, the lack of clarity in the water, the disappearance of blue waters and a welcome - not so very warm - to the green waters. Our mistake - not dredging, expensive but it would have worked - ask Cypress Lakes - and instead we have gone to geotubes and boundaries and bubblers or aerators and what not - but the nitrates and the phosphates and the minerals keep pouring in and here we sit, rotating on our thumbs and the problem just keeps getting worse. Money, money, money to fix? Ain't there.
Media needs in the Village are a joke. We had a viable and lively Channel 63 with capable people running it - but they are gone, principles violated. Our Reporter, the ostensible print media of the Village that is supposed to keep us informed and attuned to the needs and happenings of the Village is now inappropriate as they deem what is happening here needs to be buried and not presented nor debated and for sure, everyone wants to read of Lanny's camping trip as a kid and other such wonderfully appropriate material! These media outlets will need rehabbing and the money? Ain't there either.
And how about the ridiculous and dangerously expensive plan to foist Village wide Wi Fi on us once more, despite all the buildings that have opted out and wired up themselves. The Village wide would add another $20or even $40 to $60 or so to your monthly fees while the self wiring with Comcast will cost you about $6 or $7 bucks a month and please, do not listen to the lies about it being cancelled. Comcast is open for that wiring and will renew and extend contracts as desired. David lies once more and says it is over - NOT!!!!! There are people who will help you in this - Ed Grossman, Jean Dowling, Howie Silver, Olga, and others. Opt out from the dangerous financial and unnecessary plans of David Israel and UCO and do your own thing. Even if you do not wish to wire up - simply opt out! Our building has done that. And why are we talking of ten year deals when the field is changing so quickly. Why are we talking of very little in terms of doorway fees and why are we combining Wi fi and cable when they are not so in the bylaws. Show me the money for his plan - ain't there.
As for non money issues - take a look around. The same people who have given us the pleasure of seeing our Village close to wrack and ruin are the same people who reclone themselves on almost every committee and outlet of UCO. Check the membership lists as they sign in. Check the names in the positions. Joy Vestal, that nasty lady who was so rude to a Villager who asked an innocent question, is now running her VP position and her co editor position and her Channel 63 position and guess what - it all stinks!
The home grown version of a Ponzi scheme has reached the breaking point. We need a huge infusion of money to be spent on the most important items, the infrastructure, financial planning in a sensible way for the future needs of CV and no, not for murals or more pretty flowers - which will die anyway as they will have no irrigation and of course, our waterways.
Show me the money!!! Where is the money???? Not here and hence - all the misdeeds and the negligence of these past years under the aegis of David Israel and Ed Black have led us to this point. Their excuses are ridiculous such as that it took ten years for the waterways to reach this level of deterioration so my question is - where the hell were they for ten years and why did they do nothing!!!
Trust me, I and many others will find such an increase almost untenable and some will be unable to pay these demands. When one is living on $700 Social Security which was enough back then but not now when the recipient is now 90, where to get almost one seventh more out of your SS and how does one eat or get medicine or simply pay the utility bills? This is where their ridiculous and yes, dangerous and uncaring policies and pathways have led us.
and what about the issues of the motel associations, and yes, they are still here and the boards who do not do their jobs and more. We have no leadership, not for $65 or any amount of money. This UCO people has fallen down on the job.
One cannot remain neutral on these matters unless one plans to move or will be satisfied to watch as a wonderful place to live turns into a slum. There is no sitting on the fence. One must stand up and act and join those willing to stand up against all obstacles shoved into their path. It is your home, your Boards that need to act, your demands that need to be answered and your wallet that needs to be protected.
As a PS - thank you to my friends for a happy birthday! Love ya' all.
