AAAHHHH, THE FOURTH

The Fourth of July. A great day, an excellent movie, if one recalls it, full of hard truths, and of course, my mother's birthday, a great patriot and a wonderful mom. So Happy Birthday, mom, and just enjoy all the fireworks set off in your honor. Kiss to Pop and hugs and kisses from us all.
That was the good part, but now for the not so good. It used to be that the Fourth was truly a day of patriotism, of family and community get togethers, of oohs and ahhs at the fireworks. I still remember with great joy the fireworks set off at camp while we remained at a safe distance, replete with the hotdogs, etc,, from the barbecue and campfires. I remember going to the Macy's fireworks when they first began and then taking a kid or two to them if any was at home and not away. I remember riding around outside and everyone in a good mood, no one chasing the kids away from their favorite gathering places.
But look at what has happened. First, it has turned into yet another sales day and the malls will be filled with people shopping for bargains - and yes, getting some cool air too. It will be filled with the empty rhetoric of politicians and blowhards who truly know nothing, but must boast about it and rather than keeping it secret, just bandy it about by their mouths and actions.
It has become a day filled with the separateness of Americans rather than the unity, the oneness. We are all Americans, be we born here or brought here by others or immigrated here. I remember when we had much better race relations, when anti Semitism was at least muted, when people did not put their original ancestry first before the American part, when we all celebrated the joy and privilege of being American. Where has it a gone?
It has gone into the arrogance of people who think they are the be all and end all, that they define the meaning of America and in so doing, actually are traitor to its values. So we have a Trump running for office along with either deluded followers or people who believe in his hate filled rants. When one puts a picture of Clinton over dollar bills and then a Jewish star imposed on that piece of garbage along with nasty insinuations, then where has the American in us gone?
And make no mistake about it for we have the same issue right here in the Village. We have a man who evidently did about three or four things in the Army, much of which contradicts what he has said before, we have supposed patriots jeering at a man who fought, I believe, in the Korean war (forgive me if I am incorrect at the proper war), and a group of people who are insistent on slamming closed the doors of freedom, of ripping up the Constitution, who scream at, who curse at, who snipe at those who would and will speak up.
These people are snipers, hiding behind rocks, under rocks, afraid to face to face, to go toe to toe with opponents - the true mark of a coward. So they make off handed remarks at meetings thinking they are safe, they go after a lovely gentleman who dares to speak out, go after others who are connected to him and are absolutely incensed that he dares to have his own blog! Well, too bad, David et al. This IS America after all and all are free to speak their thoughts as long as it is not hate speech or treasonous. And as for your making up stories about deletions of remarks, hello! Please go look in the mirror. Any comment posted on your blog which is critical of you - off it goes in a matter of a short time and this new gimmick of clicking and searching - what a crock!! And, FYI - I never "took Gary to task" and neither did Carole so please restrain your lie gene! And please control your shills who truly posted the most ludicrous, and nonsensical postings on your blog. How and why they have agreed to be the public fools for your team is just amazing. Ah well, turnip trucks and falls - they happen every day, do they not?
AS for your advice that is so "desperately" needed for the unnecessary Broadband - there are many untapped sources of knowledgeable people here in the Village who know how to research, parse contracts and thoughts but the problem is, dear boy - they disagree with you and you cannot find too many bright people who will go along with your garbage. More and more the thought of professional management rises to the top and if we are wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars on "advisers" then we surely will save money with a management team - IF we have a one unit owner one vote system and do away with this farce of a UCO, this trashy thing that it has become, this group of selfish and unknowledgeable people who think they have the right to impose their will on others, to flagrantly violate the Constitution. Standing up there and suddenly starting to  salute the flag instead only embarrasses others who look away from the farce on the stage.
What we want here in the Village is truth and honor, transparency and we want it here in the Village, in our state and in our country. This election is the time to change and choose better representatives who will represent us and not their own blowhard ambitions. That is the meaning of independence. That is the meaning of America.

HAPPY JULY 4TH TO ALL!!!
