I am so tired of this. It appears to be an almost constant situation of been here, done that and I purposely use the here instead of there. How many times must we argue the same points, fight the same battles, mobilize to defeat the selfish aims of those who are supposed to serve us, rather than the other way around? How many times!
Today we are back in that situation. Here we go again. In a previous battle on this issue, David Israel tried to shove DSL down our throats and into our financial pockets, all to no good. This was a company we just had to use, the best around, the harbinger of all that was good in Wi Fi and just perfect for the Village. Never mind the cost. Never mind the ugly infrastructure. Never mind the fact that time and again the Village has voted against this whole process. David Israel and Co., wanted it so screw everyone else.
So we were to pay more money monthly for this. The Village said no. In the meanwhile, Boca CV, who had bought into this company's promises, had to cut the contract midstream - that is how bad the whole thing was working - or not. Imagine if we had bought into all this and where would we have been.
But some people refuse to hear what others are saying, insisting upon. Through diligent efforts a method of wiring individual buildings with a low fee and certainly a minimal fee monthly, was happened upon and associations bought into this and are very happy with this. Many associations opted out of the additional Wi Fi fee that David had installed within the budget fees. The Village has and had Wi Fi throughout and for those who needed to use it all over the Village - that was available as well. There was enough coverage. perhaps some remote corner was troublesome but , please, enough is enough.
But evidently this was not enough and here we are paying a huge fee to CSI on the presumed premise that they will help us find the best Broadband situation. Again?! How many more times are we to play this game? How much more money are we going to flush down the financial toilet to satisfy David's whims and needs. The man does not have a life other than his chair and desk and computer, be it sitting in UCO all day and half the night or doing the same thing when he gets home but that is his problem - emphatically not ours and he can pay for what he needs himself.
Once again we are promised miracles, best contracts, best deals ever. How many more times are we going to hear this? We did several times with security. We blew millions upon millions with the paving. Why is this new business in the offing? Why are the wishes of the Village being ignored? The answer to that lies straight within David's inner being and that is the truth.
We are being sold a bill of goods, hearing all these wonderful promises for something that does not even exist yet but we are told will be here but oh, of course, there will be expenses for the company so of course we have to cover those expenses. Never mind that there will be other places along the way who will presumably buy into their plans so their costs will be covered, but here we are, suckers on the point of the sword, so better the bird in hand....
In any case, their promises mean nothing until it happens and that is not supposed to be until three years from now. Once again, we are buying pie in the sky with others planning to eat the pie! CSI gets their fees, others get theirs...? and we get the shaft! No one wants this other than his lackeys and those who refuse to acknowledge that right now we have all that we need. We have Broadband - I do and I live right here in the Village and so do many others. Those that do not want it - do not have to have it or buy into it and that is their prerogative. We do not want what we have already turned down. And for Pete's sake, why are we signing ourselves over for thirteen years!!! yes, thirteen years.
And why, in particular are we signing ourselves over to a company that has pages and pages of complaints about it on the internet. No service. Lousy communications. No service at all. No consumer relations. Attitude. A truly miserable and dangerous record on security - or lack of it and there go your personal details right on line for all the crooks to have. And when they boast of being the favored service - well, read a bit more about it and see that they are the ONLY one in the area for some places and there is no choice for the consumer. Truth outs. It always does. So what the hell are we doing here again? Why is David pushing this again? And what is that "beautification" fee? Just what will all this planned installation mean to our landscape? And by the time all is said and done thirteen years down the road, how many more advances will we be cutting ourselves off from, roped into this, if it even happens!! Many a slip, you know.
We have what we need. Those who do not want it are free to so choose and those who do are free to choose their comfort level. It is not UCO's right to force this upon us, try as they might. It is not a good deal for us, not a good path for us and do not be blinded by all their supposed promises. Promises can be made freely - they cost nothing - and promises are broken all the time. All the time. Tell CSI to hit the road and take David along with them if they can! Come to today's meeting at 11 AM in UCO and make your voices and wishes heard. Do not be blinded by easy to make promises backed only by bad reputations. And by the way, look at the cost. Even if one were to take the lowest - no Broadband, no Internet - $37 with 4% increase a year, at the end of the contract that "cheap" fee will cost the consumer here approximately $75. Somewhere in that neighborhood and never mind what the higher fees will run. I do not know if I like the idea of TIVO. I like what I have and I stream all day, use all the availabilities, and have Comcast merging with Netflix availability by next year. I like the channel selections I have, even the obscure ones like WGN from Chicago which had Manhattan, Underground and the Outsiders on, all excellent programs on the development of the A Bomb, the Underground Railroad and slavery and the raping of our country and destruction of people's rights by the big energy companies. We have a good program now, why rock the boat? Why not wait till the new details and technologies stop a daily exploding process and then when the dust clears we can choose wisely and well.
I am so tired of presumed leaders voting their wishes and desires. I am tired of these games that never seem to stop. I am tired of the dysfunctional politicians in Washington, right here in the Village, right here in Palm Beach County, known for its corruption, tired of the games played on our heads. We need to stand up and stop this so stop this Broadband imposition, register to vote for the upcoming elections for the outside world and choose your candidates wisely. Sift through their statements and promises and even if you do not like one better than another - pick the one with the most sense, the most experience, the most sanity.
So tired of all this. So tired of the hate it generates, of the lies that support it, of the tossing aside of the electorates. So tired of the been here, done that situation. Time we all stand up for ourselves and say STOP!!!!
