Unanswered questions. Whether we asked them of others or others asked them of us, they play an important role in life. It is natural to want answers and frustrating when they do not come. Here are a few of the unanswered questions I have and perhaps you agree or perhaps you have others.
Why is the slaughter in Syria allowed to continue and even ramp up what with the bombings by the Russians? Why is the world basically silent in any practical manner on this horror? Now I am not a fan of Syria pre civil war; it has done too much hurt to Israel, but this goes beyond that issue and Israel is even helping the Syrians along their shared border. But what gives with the world? Will the blood lust be satisfied when the remaining 250,000 people in eastern Aleppo are all dead? Or will we have to wait till the slaughtered number one million rather than the half million as it does now?!!
Why are people blind to the truth and continue to parrot "we want change" when explaining why they will continue to vote for Trump even after the disaster of his debate behavior. What change? Define its goodness - and they cannot. So why do they maintain their position?
Why does Trump think that Bill Clinton's infidelities have anything to do with the presidential campaign and Hillary Clinton? He continues with his lies, now stating that he will not discuss this issue nor bring it up, yet every time he says that he knows he is doing the exact opposite and why is he so stupid what with his own not so clean behavior what with his cheating on his wives and he is the presidential candidate and not the betrayed one but the betrayer!! And Giuliani? He was crass enough to let his wife know of their pending divorce by announcing it at a press conference!! Crude, nasty. Go away.
Why does Obama think that calling something by its real name is denigrating a religion. The terrorists themselves call what they are doing Islamic terrorism by including the term Islam in some form in many cases in their names. Simply shouting their paean to Allah and his implied greatness and approval of this behavior makes them Islamic terrorists! So why does he refuse and his explanation to a Gold Star mother was pathetic.
Along with that question, why do the billions of Islamic adherents not rise up and crush the terrorists in their midst, deny them their power, their wealth, their abominable behavior what with sex slaves, child soldiers, slaughters and what all? Is that Islam, to allow it?
Do we have a possibility of negotiations in a serious manner now between Israel and the Palestinians what with members of the Arab world speaking highly of the deceased Shimon Peres? I am thinking a weak possibility but Abbas is so contrary that I believe that maybe this question is answerable and not in such a good way.
Why the sudden spate of violence in the streets of our cities and towns? Why the challenge to the police and why the inability to distinguish guns from vape machines or the unwillingness to accept that actually a man had a gun, his wife knew he had a gun, there was actually a police form she had filed with that information as she had asked for a restraining order against him and a gun was found at the site. Are we not now reacting simply for the sake of reacting? Should we not be holding meetings, debates, making plans, using the brain power of think tanks, anything, rather than all this shooting and violence? And remember, when violence strikes, when terrorists strike, when disaster falls upon us, these first responders are the ones who run toward the danger even as we run away from it. We need them. Period.
And speaking of violence, how is it that the NRA and the adherents of the Second Amendment at least according to Trump do not see that this gun culture, this lack of rules that are meaningful, this spate of killings, mass shootings, because some jerk is upset - just cannot continue. Why do they not see that rules that are applied and that are punished severely in their flouting, rules that will keep guns and rifles and assault weapons out of the hands of killers and terrorists and sick people are what we need and this is not a violation of their rights but rather a validation of the right of other people to live, to go to a mall and live, to send their kids to school and the kids live.
And locally - why does Amazing Grace think that by calling herself Anonymous I do not recognize her repetitive words? Can somebody be that oblivious or lacking in brain power? And what is her problem anyway? She does not like that I wrote about national politics nor anything else. Does she really think I am going to move because I question her Lord and Master? Do you think I cringe when you call me a nasty person because I raise issues and demand answers? Sorry, honey, think again.
Why is David Israel still in office after all his costly errors and incompetent administration that has brought us to a disastrous condition?
Why is our so called road reserve fund so massively underfunded and why is our future so casually ignored in his mad and obsessive drive to install Village wide broadband which will force us into a phone and internet deal when now we can choose our own - as per our bylaws!
Why are we looking at a huge increase of fees next year what with WPRF demanding over $10 increase, especially as we have to pay for a new AC system which is a CAPITAL improvement but which they claim is not!! And why have we not gotten a refund on our WPRF fees as half the Clubhouse has been shut for weeks because of the AC and the leak? And UCO is demanding over $6 increase and we still are massively underfunded for the needs the Village has for its infrastructure repair, road renewal and everything else. But let us make sure that we pretty up the UCO building for thousands of dollars! Why - is the question. Why at we in this mess? And this does not yet include the fees of the individual associations which are going to have people who will simply be unable to pay. So along will come unscrupulous people, just like Trump, and take advantage of the pitiful conditions and buy up the joint so more motels, more UCO officials who will own huge multiples of units and here we go down the tubes.
How did we get here? And sorry folks, this one has an answer. We allowed David Israel to lead us to this point or rather to not lead us. We allowed him to run rampant over us and we did not apply the rules which should have stopped him or impeached him. So here is an unanswered question. Will we allow him to remain in office again? Will the next presidential election next year, not this election, be simply the same old, same old situation and lead us to definite ruin? Or will he even perhaps back off and away and leave it to someone else, some poor successor to clean up his almost impossible to clean up mess?
There are so many more unanswered questions, enough to rival the three year old who cannot take a ride without a barrage of questions, but these are a few of the most immediate ones. Maybe we should try to answer them, and do so with hope and better planning and execution of those plans. Why not?
