THE THUNDER OF SILENCE OR THE SILENCE BEHIND THE THUNDER

    "When truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie." Yevgeny Yevtushenko
     I just came across that quote in the introduction to a book and thought how well it referred to the times and deeds of today. In both administrations that I have recourse to write about, there is often a thunderous silence that accompanies  deeds that take place within that very same entity. I do not understand why that is so, for the very silence tells us that  something is up and it is invariably found out and then we have true thunder as people speak up. And then we have the opposite, the silence that says that there are no positive and good answers to explain the previous behavior. Thus it is incumbent upon all  of us to dig into the silence or into the thunder and find out what nefarious plans have been made in the hope of putting one expensive deed over on us. Time and time again we have had to force David Israel to open up with his plans and have him explain just what the hell he is aiming to do. Tiring and stupid since the truth always comes out anyway, so why lie about it in the first place?
     And we have the same issue with the current Federal administration, particularly those who emulate the current 'president', the one that Charles Blow calls the pathological liar in his op ed piece today. There is always a thunderous silence when it comes to answering questions about just what happened in meetings and then when the truth can no longer be avoided, there is a thunderous noise as the truth comes out in various forms, depending upon who is speaking. Tillerson says one thing, Trump another and Putin yet a third version. Trump Jr. tells one story Saturday and another about the same meeting on Sunday! You know, it is much easier to remember the truth because one forgets so easily which lie was it that he told and to whom!!!
     And there are yet other times when silence would have been the better idea. Usually that is when one is angry or ashamed or blowing lots of hot air at one's opponents. Trump seems to be quite adept at this, doing so all the time , especially in the early morning hours. I just love one of the most recent tweets and its answer. When Trump was taken to task for inserting Ivanka in his seat at the table at G20, right between Xi and May, as if she was a qualified one ready and able to speak amongst that company (perhaps she would use of the many quotes she used to pad her so called book), here was his tweet answer to the upset people.
              Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother,as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!
