We are at a crisis point. The crux of the matter is the simple thought and idea of truth. What is truth? Is it what one person sees in his own mind, or is it the actual truth as seen by the majority? There are supporters on both sides of this issue.
The other question that arises is thus: does it matter in the long run, for if one believes he is acting on a basis of truth, then how could one be blamed for misdeeds or wrong roads taken?
It matters. Even if one or more than one can delude themselves into thinkingthe moon is purple cheese, and act accordingly, the obvious fact is that this is faulty thinking and a falsehood. Period.
It is incumbent upon us, each and every one of us, to dig for the truth, to constantly evaluate our "truths" and correct them as needed - or not.
Last night we watched a movie called Best of Enemies, about a KKK head of a major division and an African American woman who fought mightily for her people, to correct wrongs, even as she battled against the tide. Both held certain "truths" to be self evident, yet after the whole incident based on a need to integrate the schools, each had a different truth, even as others remained with their own faulty old ones. Whose truth was the correct and 'true' truth? Depends on who was asked. Depends on the mind set of the questioner.
So how do we make progress? Well, certain truths, as they are revealed, should be accepted as common factors of life and society. They have been proven beyond the point of all questioning. Some truths have to be rehabbed, shall we say. For example, are races different, right from the start and can this ever be solved? The answer is that we are all members of the same branch of man, homo sapiens, and we all bleed, as my kids used to say, 'wet blood', red blood, and we can exchange donor items between one ethnicity and another. While there are some medical risks for one group of people as opposed to another, is that enough to deem one race inferior or superior? Most emphaically no, yet, again and again, we have heard hateful memes on this topic and related thinking. It is NOT thinking, but rather just ignorance masquerading as false science. We need
to learn that and learn how to distinguish it from the lies that have been poured into our ears.
So is Omar a country hating immigrant or is she speaking truths? Or are her truths, such as they are, so violent and so out of tune with society that we cannot absorb them at all? Personally, I believe that she may not hate the country which took her in, educated her, and provided opportunities for her, but is simply ungrateful to the nth degree. That does not take away the right for her to speak, even if her words are so terribly off the truth track, but she does not need to be singled out for her race. There are, unfortunately, many 'white' people who are just as hateful. Does that make them undeserving of this country? Again, no. It is the job of society to get the truth out there, recognize that truths often have some twists and points of differences, but these versions can be managed if, and only if, the truth is prime.
Donald Trump and his minions do not recognize truth as a concept, as a reality. The truth is what they wish it to be, a signal aspect of all despotic societies. When there is this ilk at the top of the ruling sector of society then we have problems. How does one now get at the truth? Does counting the lies get anywhere? Do we keep pointing out the lies for at times it seems as if we are spitting in the face of the wind.
Again, the answer is yes, an uphill battle, but one which must be fought. If we do not, then the lies will prevail, history will be perverted, the future strangled, and the present be vicious as all hell! "Charity" functions sponsored by a strip club masquerading as a front for a youth group would be acceptable. At least we were able to get this event cancelled though it was scheduled to take place at Trump's Doral hotel in Miami. Feh!!!
When we disrespect the truth, we disrespect ourselves, all of humanity. The truth will then appear to be harmful, cutting into society when it is outed, for that will always happen, and then what? It is more difficult than if truth had been primary in the first place! But it seems we never learn. We allow a prime and primary liar into office, allow him to corrupt the governmental organs with filth, with corruption, with immorality, with lies as daily currency. We allow him to blow away anyone who tells the truth, particularly when he is called on it, when his nakedness is pointed out by those who cannot tolerate his moral deficiencies any longer. So as long as this man is in office we will be sailing on dangerous waters, where truth and lies, truth and perversion, combat each other, with their tides in oppositional settings. We need to be on the right side of justice and history here, before it is too late. If not already so.
