YA' KNOW, ETHICS

  What are ethics? Ethics are the hopefully moral, positive guidelines of society. The positive aspect is crucial as perverted ethics of a fascistic or any authoritarian ruled country can have false ethics, pushing violence and conditions inimical to a good and proper way of life. Ethics. Unfortunately, ethics have a way of disappearing into some nebulous cloud if not written down. What is not written, is not necessarily 'made so'.

 People need to see these rules if they are to practice them. From the time of the chiseled in stone Code of Hammurabi, through the Bible's injunctions to the legal codified ethical structures of today, ethics are codified for the most part though there are unwritten but understood standards of ethical behavior.  These unwritten but assumed to be so expectations exist as if etched in stone. These unwritten rules or standards are universal - or supposed to be.

    However, in the ethically challenged societies of the day, a grave problem has arisen, shaken society to its roots, neglected and barely clinging to life, damaged perhaps beyond hope of repair. Trust in our legislators, even worse - trust in the impartiality of the justice system, in the presumed ethical cleanliness of the judges, has eroded on an ever increasingly ugly path. 

Such a society is very sick, mortally wounded.  When the average Joe citizen sees his lawmakers break the law, inciting riots and rebellion, violating oaths sworn on Bibles, and actively engaged in illegal, immoral ventures, well, that is a society of average discouraged Joes and the only trend successful is the trend of disintegration of society, a state of anomie, and a loss of a way of life possible only under a democratically run country.

This nation has barely held together, with the apocryphal spit and bubble gum, thrown into disarray by the violent rebellion of J6, incited by a demented power hungry, power crazed narcissistic creature. This, on top of all the filth revealed under investigation in numerous fields, and the already compromised Justices of the Supreme Court. Our cookies were not crumbling; they already were in pieces not easily, if at all, able to be rejoined, a seamless society, a country having learned its lessons, taking them to heart.  

I truly am not optimistic about the actual possibility of reunification. How does one accept faith in someone who has engaged in immoral activities? How do we explain to history the fact of an indicted - hopefully convicted - man, pictured in a mug shot - was President of these here United States of America. How do we explain, how we are accepting of a judiciary manifestly unqualified to judge, morally abhorrent, grossly arrogant and unethical as they take 'bribes' from concerned factors in a case and then go on to pass judgment   and decisions. How and why do we allow their arrogance in claiming that no body, no person, no one at all, has the authority to impose ethical standards on the Court, enforce those standards, and clean house when necessary. 

How, for that matter, do we recreate a government, governing bodies, return to times of responsibility and consequences of failure to meet standards or violations of the law, of ethics. We are devolving at this point, slippery slopes growing slippier, the momentum almost at a point of irreversibility and possible reform fading behind us.  

This is a gloomy picture, a future with no future. Island residents are losing their homes to the sea, the very earth beneath them failing them. They say, "We think we are going to sink. We know we are going to sink." Would that we were aware that we are under our own rising waters, the land betraying us even as we betrayed it, and sinking we are, and sink we will.

The only way to have any chance of halting this slide down to hell on earth, is to have a conjoined effort of all responsible, thinking people no matter where they live or the label on their foreheads. We are all people, subject to the same possibilities. Only if we accept that precept, that vital truth, only then can we unite in a movement to reform the world, to save the future, to make things right.  

Only together can it be achieved,

We must put aside our differences and concentrate on shared needs and smuts of life.

Only made possible if we are and act together.

Together we can save our souls along with the soul of our natron and the souls of the world.

Only if we want to.

And only together.

 We can not move forward if we do not do so together. Freedom of stride, but unity of goals.

Together. Only and always together.

Together, always together.

Together, united for good.

Together.

Together.

We can heal the nation.
