Advance notice - read the first paragraph with the understanding of the author who oh so does not believe a word of what is written. Please continue.
What's for sure? Well, for sure is that one had to know that whatever happened, it would be the fault, of course, no doubt in mind, of the one attacked, the one whose termination, as cruel and as soon as possible, would bear the blame for it all. Of course, and why would anyone think otherwise. After all, why the hell were they there in the first place, those colonizing, avaricious, scheming Jews known as Israelis. Anyone would know it, for sure, buy into it, and spread the news. Not to forget the wonderful fun and treat it is, a great lark, to get out there, lose oneself in the massive mob, and shout cruel platitudes and get away with it. Also not to forget is the free black and white kaffiyeh to boot. Such a current, trendy, must have fashion accessory.
Okay, let's get the easy stuff out of the way. If one is in it for the fashion, not to worry if the truth hits you. We have excellent alternatives. There is the t-shirt which insists, in beautiful eye catching lettering, the need for immediate release of the hostages. One can also purchase a rather fun/serious tee for Curb Your Enthusiasm fans as well as the rest of us, Jewish or not, which reminds all to "Curb your antisemitism". Gotta love it and wear it with pride. Front and center.
Even as we face the eternal ugliness of hate always coming our way, we must be out there, proud, determined, defiant, refusing to go away, refusing to hide within dorm rooms, insistent on fair play and safe environments. We must not empower the haters by our behavior. Fear does that. We must spurn fear, be proactive in response and defense and yes, offense.
Furthermore, our support for Israel must be forthcoming. It must not be equivocal. It must not be affirmed then paralyzed, neutralized by modicums of media approved 'buts'. Not now when the very existence of Israel is at stake. Again. And will be again if we do not deal a harsh blow to the enemy who knows very well how to pervert, to lie, to murder, to butcher, to take babes in arms and children as soldiers, keep a 12-year-old boy as hostage for close to three months, with no end in sight, despite all the palaver of such happening. WE, We Jews all over the world are Israel's lifeline and it must not be polluted, weakened, frayed, anywhere along the line. WE must understand that the lifeline to Israel is our lifeline as well.
Are there areas of concern, of feelings that perhaps it could have been better waged, fewer casualties perhaps, but then again, where were you, where were we? To borrow the words and thoughts of another, if we make such statements, we must show our work. Definite, definitive proof. The numbers spewed forth from the lying Hamas who offer no proof, no distinction between terrorists and the few civilians (who actually exist), who somehow manage to stave off every two-day warning of disaster? Such amazing two-day reprieves.
Who boobytrapped those buildings in which they hid? Who set them off? Who destroyed their own infrastructure? Yes. Israel set explosives, and did catch some civilians in unfortunate positions, but how much more were they to do? Pull back, pack up and go away and say, sorry, we shouldn't have come? No consequences for their vile attack? No nikum dom- as the voices contained within that blood call out, scream, along with the anguished voices of Holocaust victims slain - remember us, avenge us, make it so it never is repeated.
Were we, are we, always to deny our own right to defense, security, to live in peace, in our homeland, long ago promised to us, fought for by us, lived continuously within its borders through the millennia, always prayed for its peace, for our return - NO, no, always no. The time to hear out and solve the divisions within the nation is after the war, after, not during, for that empowered and encouraged the enemy before and continues to do so.
Unless we present a nation of one people whose inner divisions will be remedied after victory and the release of those remaining alive as well as the bodies these animals continue to withhold from their grieving loved ones. For whom, by the way, never are remembered except in passing, their dual citizenships ignored. Where are those nations? Where are all those who flock to memorial days, who make Holocaust movies, but forget that we. are. here. alive. Will remain so.
Now a question to the people of this globe. Would you have released the planners of 9/11 if they had been found and arrested immediately, held four months, then released? Most emphatically no - as can be seen in the recent imprisonment of Brittny Griner, the continued imprisonment of Andy Whelan and the yearlong torture of Evan Gershkovich, yet another Jew in Russian prison, all innocents, and yet even for them, the USA had great difficulty in releases and trades, while two remain. No chance of terrorist attacks nor of those imprisoned in other countries and remain so, no demands and acceptances of demands for release. So why, why in the name of all that is holy, why is Israel always, always, asked, demanded to do the unthinkable, to write off their losses, to shrug and continue until the next atrocity and then - press Repeat.
No! The correct response is as one writer said;
not bring them home, but Let My People Go.
LET MY PEOPLE GO! HABAYTA! HOME!

Yitzy, beloved grandson, sleep tight, sweet dreams, and always remember us.
Always and forever. Always and forever.
