JUST SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE

 Many of us have had at least one very unpleasant situation wherein we were not paying attention or fell for the honeyed words of the other party of the contract. Indicated as to where to sign on the dotted line, assured of no need to peruse the fine print for it was so kindly summarized for us, we signed. Suddenly we are in a world of hurt and harm. What have we done? How do we fix the resultant mess? Can we even attempt such an effort or are some of the damages irreversible? Unfortunately, the answer is too often not what we want or need to hear. We have opened the door to an enormous world of hate and harm and hurt such as we never knew before.  

Monday morning quarterbacking now comes into play, actually too little, too late. Not only is that door open, but all the windows have been thrown open as well. Suddenly, you find yourselves subjected to ugly chants, to evil eyes, to words of filth, to plans of hurt, to isolation, to abandonment, to disappearance. Permanently. Forever. For eternity. Get the point yet? You and yours are now the societal approved targets of venomous hatred that knows no bounds, no 'red lines'. 

  There will be those who become "Court Jews” trying to disguise themselves and hide among the enemy. When you have outlived your usefulness to them, out you will be, the fine print you neglected to read at the ready, up front and personal. You have agreed to your own ugly fate. Abandoned, to share the fate of your brethren. Look! Is that not your signature?  

Protesting, you say this cannot be. Not again. We have learned better. We know better. This is America. This is 2024 or 25. It can't happen here. Sorry to bust your bubble. But it is happening here. Vandalism grows in every manner and rate along with the meteoric growth of physical attacks to the point of grievous harm, even unto death. Now in small or single units, but as for the future.... 

 "We're back, bitches," says the organizer, the supporter of murderers, the instigator of yet more violence, more blackmail of Columbia to accede to their demands, as they defiantly re-encamp.

From the University of Michigan. “Make no mistake...  targeting individual Jewish elected officials is antisemitism,” Acker said at the news conference. “This has nothing to do with Palestine, or the war in Gaza, or anything else. This is done as a message to scare Jews.” “F**k you,Acker.”

 And just think- it is being 'investigated' if it is in fact, a hate crime! Ya' think!!

The consequences of society either lacking in courage, giving in, appeasing, despite all historical proof of the failure of that policy, or in actual solidarity with the venom of the chanting haters. The encampments and the chants and the ugliness are returning at campus after campus.

 If that is not enough to turn your stomach, how about this? We are to be denied and deprived. of our own contributions to society even to industries which we basically set up. I am talking about Hollywood and the movie industry.

 The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. neglected in their original presentation of the history of Hollywood. to include the Jews. All those immigrants. who took the dream of America at its word and ran with it. They did their best to succeed. And they did. 

When taken to task for the great big void, in the exhibit at that museum, not a mention of the Jewish founders of all eight major studios, the Museum responded they would fix it. And oh, did they!! It was even worse, for they included every pejorative word to be found in the dictionary, and then some,  applied to each and every one of these founders of Hollywood. They were not perfect by far. Neither are we. Neither was, is or will be anyone on this planet. The only perfections to be found are up there in the Court of Heaven. It is not down here. They chased their own American dream and enabled those of others along the way. Those danged Jews.

We signed on that line. Because we deluded ourselves. We are German, said the Jews of Berlin. We have lived here for hundreds, thousands of years. We are French, said the French Jews. Napoleon gave us citizenship. We are Dutch. We are Belgium. and the list goes on and the result was all the same. Cattle cars and freezing trucks. Slave labor. True starvation. Ashes darkening the sky and fertilizing the lands around. The sounds of crying and screams and the words of the Shema and of continued faith, even as death was imminent. The contracts of mankind with fine print ever there.      

But we are not done yet. No, not at all. Israel had the nerve to be able to repel after hard fighting the murderous invasion of Hamas into Israel. and then giving back what was given to them. A bitter victory in sight. even as they gather up the bodies of the dead, killed in Gaza. by the murderers of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, even as the Northern section of Israel remains evacuated, silent, save for the crackle of flames ignited by the rockets and missiles of Hezbollah.  For all that, Israel. is now being reminded of that dotted line signature. America wants to play with the big boys here, using its size to pressure Israel to cede victory to Hamas even as Hamas demands it all with nary a hostage in sight. Other than those who already have been slaughtered by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Pretty good deal - start a war, slaughter, fail, lose and be  declared victor and all the spoils that go with that decision. Oh, that dotted line we signed.       

Where do we go from here? In my mind are the words of Shylock as he wages battle for his promised pound of flesh. He runs through a plaintive list of similarities between Jews and Christians. until he finally poses the final questions. and the final conclusion of his speech. (Act 3, Scene 1)

"If you prick us, do we not bleed? If
you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?
And if you wrong us, do we not revenge? If we are like you in the
rest, we will resemble you in that."

 'Nuff said, I believe. Be very careful of dotted lines needing signatures.--------------------------------------

Yitzy, your contract was not signed by any of us. Would that we could have taken it to the Court of the Heavens and fought against it. but that was not to be. Sadly so.
