Sometimes I wonder if there is a real difference between writing about the situation in our village and the situation in the outside, real world. In both cases the status is SNAFU which means situation normal all ****** up. What a sad situation.
Yet there is a difference. Here in the Village, our microcosm of a world, there are people who are willing to step up and there are people listening, voting with their actions, to combat the status quo here. It is not easy and those who have taken the forefront in this attempt are constantly subject to abuse and filthy invective thrown at them. They get rude behavior and attitudes from people who should know better, as note the behavior of David Israel towards Marcia Ziccardi, a VP, and towards Jean Dowling. All semblance of positive public behavior seems to have gone down the tubes, and trust me, their private behavior is even worse.
So where to from here?
We continue to fight.
We continue to ask questions.
We continue to help those who wish to OPT OUT.
We continue to point out the fallacies in the present UCO's plans and statements.
We continue to press hard.
We continue to urge either recall or resignation.
We continue to plan for the future, a different future, one which has the best interests of the Village at heart.
And the world? Well, all we can do is blog and talk, and protest, write to our representatives and pray - lots of that. The world seems deaf to the cries of the oppressed, to the children in Nigeria who are kidnapped and forced into slavery and war, to the victims of Ebola for whom there appears to be little help, for the Yazidis about whom the world cannot make up its mind - they are in danger, they are safe, no, they are in danger again, with men and boys being shot and women and girls abducted, raped. Now hundreds of member of a tribe in Syria have been added to the total there. The world continues on in its same old ruts thinking that if one wishes something it will make it so.
Now the USA has said it will guarantee the promises of Israel. Really? Is that the country that needs to be watched to keep its word? Hamas boasts of its new and undiscovered tunnels and new armaments. Fatah now vows to join in the fight. They both openly state their goal of destroying Israel and killing the Yahud - the Jews. The Palestinians wave big rusty keys that can be purchased cheaply in the shuk and claim it is the key of their ancestral home. If there had been as many homes as there are keys, the land that was developed by the pioneers, the chalutzim, would have been covered in these "homes". But still, the world goes on, same old, same old. Let's send in the UN troops to enforce the treaty. Really, again? UNIFIL in Lebanon just works oh so well and in Africa they stood aside and let the terrorists rage through the villages and kraals. In 1967 when the Straits of Tiran were blockaded what did the world and the UN do? They sailed away, letting Nasser continue on with his nefarious plans.
Israel must plan and protect the safety of its citizens. Does one understand how difficult it must be to not only know that one day you can open your door and a terrorist will be there - and that has happened many times, but now the fear is that one can pop up in your living room, in your baby's room, in the classroom - wherever. And for the gift of all that we are to give Hamas the gift of a duty free seaport for armaments, the ability to come closer to the border fence - the better to build tunnels, my dear -and to funnel money into Gaza which will be distributed to Hamas terrorists?!
I despair of the world, for the world. London had a black ISIS flag raised over a Moslem neighborhood and thousands of leaflets were handed out urging a joining in with the "struggle". The Netherlands is being overwhelmed. The wolves are out in France and Germany. Teens are terrorizing Jewish children on their schoolbuses but oh, not to worry, Obama and Ban Ki will take care of it all. Just let them finish conferencing with the terrorists, Arab states and anti Semites of the world and then they will have their marching orders.
