A construction vehicle is used to overturn a bus and with G-d's eyes watching over us, the bus is empty. Yes, a pedestrian was killed and the driver hurt, but how much worse it could have been. A young soldier is walking near the Hebrew University campus on Har Hatzofim (Mount Scopus) and is now in very serious condition with abdominal wounds from being shot. The animals? They rode off on their motorcycle, the same type of motorcycles that was found in the tunnels also to be used to commit terror attacks. Finally, an Arab woman with three knives was found by Damascus Gate, also in Jerusalem, primed for another terror attack.
Are these the actions of someone walking in and supposedly cherishing a holy city? Are these the actions of a people who want peace or the actions of a huge population who have been trained from birth to hate, to kill, and to take others with them. On the other hand, we have a nation of people who continued to give medical care to children from Gaza who needed heart surgeries and more, who set up a hospital for the wounded from Gaza but got shot at for their efforts and who continued to truck in supplies for the civilian population even as they knew that Hamas was stealing the food and the UN food coupons to feed their fighters. This is the same country that rushes to countries suffering from natural disasters, even Moslem countries.
All this is not seen in the various media formats. It is the rare one who publishes the pro Israel events and speakers. I would like you to read from an email to me from a friend of mine who just returned from Israel from visiting family. She is Israeli so she has been through this before and has served in the army herself. She has given me permission to include some of what she wrote to me, so please read carefully -
"My mom took this war hard, she was crying much and reading t'hilim all the time. The sirens every day when I was driving or during Shabat dinner… never thought I would have to go through again. It was real War! It's still going on... god gave us a real shitty neighbors and neighborhood to live in.
Above all Ester, what amazed me more than anything is the spirit and the streangth of this nation. One heart - a nation united in supporting its diffenders. We sent socks and
underwears, undershirts, soaps, shampoo, babywipes and so much more - not only us - but every person in Israel!!! My cousin's friend have a restaurant in Ashdod... he took kilos of food and opened it in the refreshing area out of Gaza. This is only one story of hundreds of people who went to help, hug, feed, and support the 40,000 who protect them. No other nation comes even close.... No less than 19 people I know went in... one of them told us the army sent people to talk to them but he is not ready yet to talk about what he went through.
I'm sorry for your cousin's loss... it's beyond tragic... they are all so young, so gorgious, so amazing.... it is so sad.
So I left yesterday after a tough time... I pray for peace for our people for our Nation and for Jews everywhere... I'm very sad! The world is a disgusting place but they will have to face their own actions soon. Once they will realize Israel is the protective gate of the free world from Islamic fondementalism!! Hope not to late."
There is a spirit of this nation, of this people that will not get ground under. It is a nation, a people that will continue on defending themselves when they are forced to do so by violence against their own citizens. It is a nation that knows it has to deal with prejudice that never seems to die. Read the following and understand it a bit -
"The mayor of a town in eastern Hungary has held an event hanging effigies of the prime minister and former president of Israel to protest the war in Gaza. Mihaly Zoltan Orosz, who has been mayor of Erpatak since 2005, told The Associated Press Monday that the “Jewish terror state” is trying to obliterate the Palestinians and said he opposed “the efforts of Freemason Jews to rule the world.” ...An online video of Saturday’s event shows an executioner with a black hood over his face kicking chairs out from under the puppets of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former President Shimon Peres, each tied to a gallows. - "
This hatred, this vile attitude that is absorbed with mother's milk must be overcome and for the few who stand and tell the truth, how they were forced as children to stand as human shields for mortar firings, who blame Hamas for the deaths of civilians as they shoot from within their homes and schools, hospitals and playgrounds, who tell the truth as they watched rockets be shot off from these same places - we thank them for their courage. We wish the UN had this courage and did not turn over rockets found in UN schools back to Hamas and then say oops!
When will the world come to its senses? When will this vile anti Semitism finally burn itself out on its own filth? When, G-d, when? Your people are tired, weary of the hate, of the bloodshed and only want peace. Have we not yet earned it? Have we not lost enough of our young, our future? How many more times must we try to rebuild, to mourn and yet have the strength and faith to continue? When? When?
