STRAIGHT TALK

     So it seems that I have been accused of spreading false information around the whole Village. Wow! I love to hear of all my super powers. My little grandson will soon draft me to join his crew of superheroes as we fight off the "bad guys". Hmmm, doesn't sound so much different than what I am doing now!
    Seriously, though I think they are wrong and could cost the Village more millions of dollars, I do not think that most of the opposition are "bad" guys. They are misinformed, egotistical, deaf to reality, focused on what they want and their power rather than what the  Village wants, and sometimes downright dumb in what they say, but except for one particular dude, I do not think they have evil in their hearts. So what is the issue here?
     Actually, there are many issues. First of all, this UCO administration, and by that I mean the whole 4 1/2 years under the aegis of David Israel has been a do nothing one. They talk a good talk, but do not do the walk. It takes forever to get anything done, and when something does get done it is so late that at times it is too late. Witness our lack of preparation for discussing what we need to do and will do at the end of the Millennium Agreement. Witness the fact that we still have Rod Tennyson as our official lawyer. Ladies and gentlemen, this man is long past his sell by date and his legal advice is up for grabs - whatever David wants, Rod says.
     Second of all, it takes this administration too long to get the ball rolling, even when they want to do something, and then to admit failure so that they can move on to something else, a more workable solution. Witness the whole fiasco at the Southampton wall. How many times did we have to go back and reapply, get another permit and on and on. It was like the guy making vegetable soup who goes to the store over and over, buying one vegetable at a time. Useless and time wasting.
     Third, we have the multi million dollar debacle of the roads and paving, of the non existent or worsened drainage in the Village. We can all retreat to our younger days when we loved to splash thru puddles as we now have many more ponds to splash through! It took years for David Israel to admit that there were mistakes, that we now ALREADY need repairs and quite costly they are too. We will need to come up with more money for the untimely need for new road jobs much, much earlier, years earlier, than we should.
     So why does all this happen? Why do we let it happen? Well, people are scared of David Israel and his temper. A bit of that was seen in his snapping at Marcia Ziccardi at the delegate assembly, crude, really. It was seen in his misuse of his position on the podium and this happens ALL the time. It happens because UCO is run on a personality cult, on a dictatorial basis, kind of like when a new dictator in a country appoints his own crew so he can hear yes, yes, yes all the time. It happens because essentially David Israel HAD NO MANAGEMENT experience or skills nor did he find people to work with him that had that experience. Hence, the puppet master was able to run rampant over our Village with almost criminal financial misdeeds and planning so that we now have reached the point of a massive reserve shortfall.
     It happens because when we have a partial answer to recouping this shortfall, David Israel and crew renege on what they previously stated. They are not to be trusted and come up with ridiculous financial figures to cover their asses. Well, to put it in the vernacular -IT DON'T WORK!!!!
    And finally we now have to deal with the whole idea of David Israel's Wi Fi dreams. Granted, the man is allowed to have dreams, but cannot implement them over the expressed desires of the residents that he not do that, they are not interested in either the cost or the need and have so shown through their opting out or wiring up by themselves. David Israel's answer to that is to come up with this major techie posting on his blog and David, that will not do it. You know, I felt your strong desire for this program in your posting and maybe you even feel earnestly and strongly that this is the way to go, but you will not win over proponents and supporters with that kind of techie talk. As a matter of fact, I am willing to come and listen to you talk about and explain why you think you are right. I will sit in your office and listen with an open mind, but use English. I am not impressed by jargon and refused to use it as a professional to "impress" people with knowledge when I spoke at conferences or meetings. People need to know the truth, to be spoken with, not to, and to hear it in plain English. The rest is up to you - take the offer or not as you wish, but understand what the consequence is of not taking me up on this.
     Second finally! WE, the residents of the Village, MUST learn to control our own delegates. They are elected or appointed to serve US, not David Israel. They are to vote the associations' wishes, not their own and they should not be openly told to support David Israel and vote their own opinion as they were told in so many words at the last delegate assembly. We must make sure that rules are upheld, not arbitrarily enforced or overlooked. We must make sure that there is transparency. For example, that woman with the big nasty mouth _ and I have been on the receiving end of that mouth - Marilyn Gorodetzer, has been working almost singlehandedly or with her bosom buddies to write up new by laws. You can bet your bippy that those new bylaws are meant to squelch opposition and make it nigh onto impossible to make any progress. Why have we not heard of what she is doing or has come up with?
    Straight talk for the day. Now let us put it in our figurative pipes and smoke it, think about it and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Now, my not so amazing Grace, that is being forward looking and thinking. And Lanny, enough with the stupidity of oh, what about the buses? One is state mandated and the other is not. And David, saying that change over the years makes something in a legally binding contract automatically change to what you want or wish, does not make it so. I have NEVER heard of any lawyer agreeing to that nor any contract magically changing in such a manner. Maybe if Harry Potter, or more likely Snape, waved a magic wand, but this is reality here.
