FLASHMOBS AROUND THE WORLD AND HERE

Andre Legault published a flashmob from France on the other blog, a wonderful show and I then spent a half hour watching other flashmobs, some my favorites, such as the Ode to Joy and the ones by Camp Morasha and some new ones as well. It is a beautiful thing to see, when the delight grows on the faces of the onlookers, when one sees the cooperation of all involved in this difficult to stage program, the various ethnicities and ages, levels of talent, etc., and yet it happens.

The last two DAs were flashmobs of a sort as well. I know that the paranoid man has been shouting cabals, plots, conspiracies, but it was nothing of the sort - just a growing group of people who, tiring of the same old same old, stood up, figuratively speaking, at relatively the same time and showed their disgust and opposition to the status quo. Frankly, it was an invigorating and refreshing show of democracy in action, a demonstration that aging does not take away one's rights, one's ability to act and think.

So what we have now in CV is a situation in flux. Where will it go from here? Will we maintain the momentum? I believe, I hope, that answer is a resounding yes. Yesterday I spoke of the nastiness of the opposition to change, of their vile hatred that just spews from their mouths and typing fingers. Today I ask you to remember that we can fight this and the next step is to figure out what we will do with the budget.

Obviously we need a budget and just as obviously there have to be adjustments from 2014 into 2015 needs. But we must make those adjustments with a clear head and mind, with a clear understanding of where, why, how and for how long. We must have a clear picture in our mind of where we want to be in the future and yes, whether we are here or not, we must plan for it. That is our duty and responsibility and if we do not plan for the future, then our present will be quite chaotic as well.

So we need to ask questions and we need to get specific and detailed answers, one made looking the audience in the eyes rather than with mumbles and a downed head. We need answers and not evasions, half truths, and outright lies.We need to get details such as where we are to get millions in addition to the other millions we will need and no muttering about $700,000 and $300,000 will do. Be specific. Be detailed. Be honest. Be sensible. Attend the Club meeting on Jan. 14 in Room C and the questions we need to ask, the actions we need to take will be forthcoming. We must maintain the momentum and  the people involved, people who have stood up at these meetings, at the DAs, are  doing a manifestly wonderful job of keeping this train on the road. Ed has good questions. Dorothy has good explanations. Others ask good questions from the floor. Way to go!

A few that I can think of - the question about the money for the rovers at end of contract and details about the buses. How about the cameras in this new contract? Will they all be there in our hands or will they too disappear? What is the expectation about increases and realistically explain how one can fold in a $10 increase for roads alone and then add on WPRF and more UCO fees with yearly increases in contracts, association needs, etc. If we go on like this, we might as well all move to a luxury development as our fees will be comparable and compatible! And enough with the moving of funds and proposed expenses from one account to another and then saying that the first account has decreased. Really! This is poor financial planning and smacks of fraud, incompetence and irresponsibility at the very least.

So from now till the 14th and from now till the 20th, put on your thinking caps. What questions need to be asked? What answers do we need? What methodologies do we need to include, amend, etc.? What about the possibility of David Israel, Ed Black and other people involved in the debacle of the roads to instruct the insurance company to settle, acknowledge their guilt in this shameful affair and let the Village get the money to build up to the funds we will need to do the proper job and trust me, 15 years is a pipe dream! Way, way before that it will be needed.

Let us all flashmob the meetings, flashmob the incompetence that has characterized this administration for too long, flashmob the elections and vote in new and fresh people and keep the good ones, flashmob for the sake of the Village. So what say, folks, let us all flashmob and show up and no snow jobs from the Poohbah or Howie or anyone else. Press hard. Press firmly. Press for the truth. And if the Poohbah throws another hissy fit - who the hell cares! Tantrum away, Poohbah, but it is time to grow up, man up, and accept responsibility for poor administration. Peter Principle at work here, folks. (That is when a person reaches higher than his/her ability to function well and properly, positively and here we are with it in action.)

PS. You really should listen to the Ode to Joy flashmob. Type it in to Youtube and enjoy.
