A VISION OF WHAT COULD BE

In 2013 or early 2014, I wrote an article for The Reporter (oooohhhh), detailing a dream I had for the Village. It spoke to a world based on logic and reason, on trust and sanity, on inclusion, on sound finances and process and procedure, on management, on what is best for the Village and not what is best for the people who administer UCO. I stressed the importance of realizing that an official of UCO was a public servant and thus served the people and not the other way around. I asked for cooperation, for unity, and reached out to ask all to join in.
The venomous hatred spewing forth was almost immediate and I was taken aback a bit, I must admit, but then again, once shocked is twice forewarned. I now know the depths that can be plumbed in the quest to defeat me and I can take it in stride. We all can.  I do apologize to Olga, a woman who sincerely cares for CV, for having the effect of having the personal and selfish and commercial blog of David Israel move up the nasty posting about her. Sorry, Olga. My bad.
But I still believe in the kumbaya moment, in its possibility. I admit, at this point it would not, could not, be totally inclusive of all , but for most - why not? Yesterday's outing to the Broward Center for Performing Arts just reinforced that feeling and hope. First, we found a phone and tried to find its owner, but no answer and despite the help of several people we finally had to turn it over to the bandmaster at the park where we found it and hoped that the announcement would suffice.
Inside the Center we thoroughly enjoyed a performance of the play Motown, with an excellent cast and some totally amazing voices. The characters actually came into the audience, became their characters and the audience reacted appropriately. But what got me the most was the moment when "Diana Ross" had the audience hold hands, raise them on high and wave them side to side and sing. They did so, and in full voice sang these words:
"Reach out and touch somebody's hand
Make this world a better place
      If you can."

Mushy, but meaningful. Touching. And forcing the issue of why can we get together as strangers and yet we who live here, together, in CV, cannot seem to do the same thing. But it is hard to put aside differences when one constantly gets badgered and buffeted by nasty slings of words and action. How does one work with one who does not want to do that? How does one work with someone who lies through his/their teeth in a constant manner. For example, I was just told by Gracie, no less!, that when I lost the election last year I cried. Really!!!???? In fact, I laughed  because coming out of nowhere, definitely the underdog, we pulled so many votes, defeated David Israel at the Forum, wherein he probably swore never again to engage in any dialogue!, and the next morning got up and said a prayer of gratitude at not having to go to work!
So, Gracie, you could tell lies, repeat your inanities, puke all you want, but who cares! NOBODY! And Lanny, so sorry that you are offended by my posting calling your comment or posting ridiculous or whatever, but dumpster diving for economic reasons, for survival, is never funny.
So, once again, come out and play, David Israel. Come out and dialog with people. Come out of the closet and face your critics - and supporters too for that matter, as they are quickly falling off. Be honest in your dealings. Be honest with the people. Answer questions. For example, are you truly getting paid for ads on your blog and if so, where does that money land? It is okay to do that, to sell space - it IS a free country, as you forget sometimes, but be upfront and let people know that this is a private and for profit blog - NOT the Village official blog that has been its masquerade format.
And for Heaven's sake, answer questions about the Village and its finances, its future plans and situation in your hands, etc. Whether you win or lose on Friday is not the point. The fact is, we have already won and you have already lost as can be seen by your absolutely ridiculous targeting of people, of saying nasty things and insinuating that working with John Gluszak was such a terrible ordeal. Why? Because he knew and knows far more than you ever could about our infrastructure and had ideas how to make us better and safer? Because he could show you up? Because he does not have a nasty personality but does have the strength and resilience of a New Yorker and you cannot knock him down? And Marcia Ziccardy keeps getting abused and mistreated and yet every day she returns to her job, goes around the Village looking for areas that are in need of a fix - a hell of a lot more than you do. When was the last time - no, the first time - that you EVER got out of your hidey hole and walked, or Karted around the Village to talk to people. Afraid of what you will hear? Afraid of what you will see - the crumbling roads, the ugly waters, the swales that look shabby, the drains that are clogged? Afraid of the knowledge that your wasteful programs and projects have drained our funds so that to fix all this will take a creative and open mind, one who welcomes outside opinions, the expertise of others, the recognition that it takes a village to keep our Village whole and safe!
Pfoi, enough of you today, or for now at least. It should be a beautiful day today and I, for one, plan to take full advantage of it and the possibilities that the Village offers. See, I like people and therein is the difference.
