HERE WE GO AGAIN MMMM CATCH US IF YOU CAN...MMMM

(Just a note to scroll on to the prior posting for the question of the day).
It is getting to be a bore, reading the same news with different actors and getting frustrated at the stupidity, the venality, of it all. Seems like a real serious deja vu. Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are drilling, preparing for possible invasion by Russian forces. Remember the Russian invasion of Hungary in 1956? I do, not really understanding it as I was a little girl, but I do remember the influx of lots of new kids into our classrooms in school, kids who did not read nor speak English.
Our money, our taxes, have been pouring into enemy hands due to "poor oversight and loose financial controls" while here in good old America families and children are going hungry. Think what that money could have meant to them.
People forget the issues, refuse to discuss them, hiding their incompetence. Parties are splintering and that is not new in American history - remember, we once had Whigs here and the Republican Party was considered an upstart and party of the people.  Change is possible, but it must be the right change, the necessary change, and done within a framework of transparency, of honesty, of strict control over the flow of dollars into projects here in the USA and out there, in that big old mean world.
The attention of the world is focused on what is deemed PC and the rest kind of goes off somewhere. Four years in Syria, millions dead, wounded, displaced, ancient cities gone, wiped out thru bombing, many wounded Syrian civilians taken to Israeli hospitals for treatment, including one where my cousin is chief of pediatric surgery but what does the world stress there? Chewing over and over again the same Gaza protective war fought last summer. Forget about Boko Haram. Forget about homegrown terrorists. Forget about Sudan and Darfur. Forget about the women who are used as spoils of war. Just forget about everything that makes you uncomfortable.
And again, we see all this reflected right here in good old CVWPB. Why is it that the same old stuff is recirculated, "hidden" with a different name, swollen with new words and lots of verbosity, but all coming down to the same thing. We have a bunch of people sitting as if they are the gods of Olympus discussing what to do with
....Century Village Integrated Communications Services (CVICS) or
, Integrated Communications Services (ICS)? This will be resolved at the next meeting. "  (underlining is mine)

What the ......! Coulda' fooled me but I thought we emphatically voted down this Village wide Wi Fi and yet here we are again, calling it by another name and making audacious plans to cut the contracts of those associations who have worked with Comcast on wiring up their buildings, about this -
"We need to look at the buyout of the current Comcast contract. There are ways of getting this covered. "
"CSI has multiple organizations contacts that may be able to help in finding funds."

Again with CSI. Again with talk of monies where there are none, where there is only pie in the sky thoughts, where the money will be found - and here comes that mushy, slushy financing that the present UCO so vigorously espouses. They say they will just cut the contracts that associations have with Comcast.
Really? Who the hell is UCO to decide to tell the associations what to do. When I raise the questions of simply giving advice on the matter of undesirable purchasers of units who run them like motel units, I get yelled at, cursed, called names because I am told that UCO has no legal control over the associations. Who was talking legal? I was talking advice, aid, help. And here we are with UCO deciding to cancel my contract and the contract of others? On whose sayso? On whose right?
Is there going to be a universal CV wide telephone company? Will I be told that I can have this or that but not both of whatever, how many extensions, land line or no landline, which company......? Is this the prerogative of UCO? Oh NO, not on the watch of all those  who have opted out and wired up or simply stayed the same.
The stated goal here is to appeal to one segment of our residents - the users of computers and confuse them with gobbledegook about communications this and communications that. Why are we looking into this when the whole thing is in the air, what with Obama saying one thing and other people saying oh, no. Once again, we are running into something that will take millions of dollars, in a world where things are changing every day so why not wait and see what is happening for another year or two? We cannot say that somewhere there are grants to fund this. Barbara Streisand sings Somewhere too, but that world has not yet happened either!

Why not wait till we figure out how to get money for the roads and other needy infrastructure, how we watch and prepare for sinkholes (what if one opened under a building as it did elsewhere in south Florida?), and then, and only then, when we have a proper financial system in place, only then, can we start talking about new systems, only then can we look at the doorway fee paid by Comcast and which we will be responsible for until the end of contract and I believe it is around a million dollars or more that we would have to pay as of now so put that into the financial computations as well.

"Part of the project will include the development of a multifunction, interactive, income producing Web Site."

Question: And exactly who will be the manager of this website? Who will determine what goes on? What is posted? What is advertised? Are we going to have censorship again based on political oppositions? Is this what we are about? Is this the most pressing item on our to do list? I guess if we are sitting in a slanted building in a sinkhole watching the smelly waterways flood in and help cannot get to us because of crumbling roads, that the property values will still rise because we have an outdated multi million dollar still owed multifunction web site. Get a grip, folks. We need to study, to think, to have more than one company who says they can do everything for us - yet could not make a presentation because one person was ill? Sorry for the person, but any company that is competing for this kind of contract needs to have built in redundancies and yet - the meeting was cancelled and they are going to cover it all for us? Another M&M problem, another company that is incompetent in this kind of huge contract and project, another UCO fiasco for which we will be paying the bill.
A Holocaust survivor who speaks to kids says that if one sees bullying, one being picked on, something wrong being done - then do not walk away; do not watch; do not stand by, but stand up, say something, do something. Do not let others run rampant over you. Good advice.
