Why the title? Why not, especially after hearing it last nite at the Clubhouse show. We all have our prayers, some good, some not so much, some realistic and others not. So what are mine?
I pray for a world at peace along with true democracy, an end to dictatorships, to slavery.
I pray for hatred of others because they are "other" disappears, especially that hatred based on religion and personal preferences.
I pray that the brutality that has returned to the world be put aside and civilization rises once again, stronger than ever.
I pray no disasters, natural or manmade.
I pray for my family, my friends, that we have health, happiness and prosperity.
I pray that we leave our children and grandchildren a better world and not a future that belongs to a Mad Max movie.
And I pray that some of those prayers brush off somewhat at least in our own humble CV.
So much of what we are is a reflection of the world outside. It is scary sometimes. Take a look at our ostensible leaders. Obama is one of the biggest disappointments ever. The only emotion he has ever shown is over the calling of terrorism an Islamic extremist phenomenon. He has ego problems as his lack of experience in the international world has truly given rise to many situations that should have been defused way before they grew to such terrible extents. And he finds himself fighting a losing battle of explanations, behind the eight ball as he tries to defend himself. His rhetoric, once wonderful, now stumbles and falls even as he tries to explain away the electricity and logic, the facts and emotions of the speech by Netanyahu, by the rousing ovations he received.
So now let us look at our "leader". He, too, is a major disappointment. His lack of experience in the real world that would have helped CV is a major problem. He has fallen into bad ways as he tries to defend himself from questions and yes, attacks, on his record, on his deeds or lack thereof and on his advisers who inflict more harm on the Village.
The world, the USA and the Village - all in precarious situations of a depth that astounds all, wondering how it ever reached this point. How? Because people in all these worlds shut their eyes to the truth, to the facts, wanted their "own" interests as #1 and then became afraid of the political consequences for themselves if they spoke up. The nastiness of the leaders escalated and here we all are - and not in a pretty place, not at all.
I do not have the answers to all the world's problems, though I have my own ideas. I do not have the answers to all of the country's problems, again, though I have my own thoughts and ideas. And yes, I cannot solve all the problems of CV, certainly not at once and not immediately and will make no promises to that effect. What I can promise is that I and many others will do their best, will put forth their mightiest efforts to improve our Village, to get it back on track, financially, physically and yes, emotionally. I, as an Executive Bd. member would be only one voice against many still in UCO, on a board stacked by appointees and leftovers, anachronisms from a world that needs to be set aside, but at least I will let my voice be heard and no amount of shouting, cursing and threats will shut me down, whether I am blocked from certain committees or not.
So finally I pray that the delegates go into the voting on Friday with thought, with care, with sense and with bravery and independence. I pray that Ed Black NEVER be inflicted upon us again as an elected official. He did enough financial harm to us in that position already and continues to do so as an unelected official, a behind the throne "evil" adviser who needs to be ousted, gone.
And I pray that G-d holds our hands as we walk down a troubled and rocky road, but one that can be smoothed over, literally and figuratively, with cooperation, with care and concern, with all of us working together, not for the good of the elected officials, not for those who seek power, such as it is, but for the sake of the electorate, our residents - for the sake of the positive continuation of CV, for our future.
Once again, take a look at the recommendations and heed our prayers. Delegates, please be there within the voting hour - 8:00 AM to 9 AM. Every vote counts and is needed. BE there early so that your vote counts and is not displaced by an alternate. People, make sure that you do not have a delegate who says "screw them" and then votes HIS wishes. Remember the delegate I pointed out last Friday who does just that. And most of all, thank you to all who had the strength, the humor, the courage, the decency to stand with the reformists. Yes, the reformists, against the negative OGs, the ones who stand for self power, for selfishness.
Please see your way clear to voting for me and for the other recommended voters as best you can. The choice is yours, and so it should be until we reform the process when it will be opened to more, but we work with what we have. Our fight for the sake of the Village continues right along, whatever the results and the goal is
NO FOURTH TERM - EVER.
Here is the list once again:
VP - Ziccardy and Gluszak
