HOW COME?

    Remember the car trips or the long walks with the little ones and the never ending series of 'why' questions? Adorable, yet frustrating in that there were no answers for some of these questions. And here we are, back at the starting point again, unable to answer why questions from bigger once little ones.
     How come we, as a country, have turned in upon ourselves? Why have we become self consuming cannibals? 
     How come hatred, homophobia, racism, pure unadulterated meanness is now fashionable. For example when a Republican candidate for governor in Illinois uses blatant homophobic and racist ads? Disgusting!!!
     How come all our "President" can think of at this point is a Super Bowl party at his posh Mar a Lago? Wonder if Melania will be talking to him or even acknowledging his presence? 
     How come, in the first place, we have a demented and incompetent man as president?
     How come we have the biggest roster of incompetents, know nothings and dangerous fools and shills as administration officials and appointees, more than ever?
     How come Trump et al cannot get it into their thick skulls that climate change is not only here, it has been here for quite some time and is planning to totally move in with us!!!
     How come Junior thinks he can make himself a part of our government, colluding with our enemies and tweeting his stupid self off, a true chip off the old rotten block!!?
     How come the Republicans cannot see nor admit that their supposed ooohhhhh memo is just a bag or piece of hot air and is more interesting for its omissions than for anything it contains.
     How come Nadler's memo is the best yet and answers all questions, pointing out Carter's long term collusion as agent of foreign countries, that it was the Greek dude with that long name that aroused curiosity in the Justice Department, that the government's application was made in good faith and was approved by several other people or official organs, that the Republicans are dangerously close to themselves being party to obstructing justice. By the way, Nadler is a constitutional expert and privy to the ENTIRE memo information, knows the whole shebang!!
      How come Ryan tweets the most insulting tweet ever that a school secretary is just thrilled to bits when she sees that her new check will have an additional $1.50 in it because, glory Hallelujah! she will be able to pay the $78 for a Costco membership!!
     How come our representatives in government are so stupid or venial, or nasty, or unpatriotic, or selfish or cruel, dismissive of others, uncaring and any combination thereof ?
     How come we seem to have lost our collective souls, fallen into darkness, become mean and combative people? How come America has lost its way, lost its very principles of existence?
     And here's another question, not of governmental import, just a question of life.
     How come people always moan and whine about the ache in their back or how tired they are or the scratch in their throat or the gouty ache in their toe, and yes, that hurts, or how tired they are, or rundown, or anything that can engender or garner sympathy for them, excuses and yet, when there is a real problem of great import, one that will not go away, at least easily, how come then people suddenly shut up. Suddenly it is all a great big secret, as if being ill or afflicted with a disease or a syndrome is a shameful thing, one's own fault? How come, when it is exactly, precisely at the point when more help might be forthcoming if one opens up that one retreats into the dark, hides out in a closet and shhhhhh, hope no one finds out?
     How come? Got me. I even did it for a short while until I woke up and knew what I had to do. How come? How come when opening up brought beautiful people back into my life with encouragement and beautiful thoughts, when one can realize that there is still good out there if only, if only, we would call upon it more often.
    How come? How come we still cannot answer the questions of our young ones when they ask in a confused manner as to why their presumed leader acts in a suspicious, possibly illegal and collusive manner? How come, they want to know, how come it has reached this point? How come the adults have allowed this to happen? How come suddenly family and friend gatherings are silent about politics now, lest there be huge fights. How come? Answer it for yourself, for I am puzzled as why people do not see the truth or hide from it.
     How come? Got me. Going to look for a piece of chocolate! How come that helps? Get real!!!
