TREMORS? HOPE? CHAOS?

     If the title is confusing, so is life these days in these United States. I am not talking about life on a personal scale, at least for me. Politically, I see no alternative other than to move toward the left, a bit off center, though I prefer the road of the moderate. However, and that is a big however, the antagonism, the determination of the extreme right to shut all things good down, leave me and many others no choice at all. Evidently there is hope in this country and just looking at the marches from yesterday proves that point. In brutal heat they came by the thousands to protest brutality of a different sort.
     And yet, there is still such garbage going on. Trump comes out with another statement that due process is a waste of time for illegal immigrants. Wonder when it will turn into a waste of time for regular, standard breed Americans? Then of course we have the brilliant planning and defiance of this man and his minions who state that okay, we will not separate families; we will just keep them locked up in detention centers - read that prisons- for a long, long time.
     Even putting aside the humanistic side or the inhumane side of it, look at the purely neutral business side. Here we are in a job market that is tight. Here we are in a market where employers are looking for employees, especially in the traditional entry jobs of the immigrants - gardening, agriculture, construction on the lower end, small businesses, but cannot find them because they are locked out, rounded up like cattle, herded into cages, into prisons, literal prisons, and dropped off in the middle of nowhere as they are rejected by a country that needs them - and yes, we do. Just ask Trump who gets all his requests for these workers and visas without a problem. Gee, wonder why that is!! Speak to the farmers who are having to let crops rot in the fields and on the trees. Speak to the consumers who are paying more for less now as the produce is less, as farmers shut down dairy farms because they are now suffering under retaliatory tariffs. 
     Wondering why there is a tremor or are even more? Wondering why there is a fear of chaos? How did it happen? When did it happen? When did we lose public servants who had some degree of honesty and in turn got these zombies, these weaklings, even an African American Senator who writes excuses for Trump!!! No, he is not a racist, just racially insensitive! C'mon!! When did it happen that in order to be a Republican one had to resign from all independence, all caring, all truths, no souls and no hearts.
     The divide in this country grows larger and larger day by day. Where will it end? With a corrupt and incompetent and demented man in charge? With plans to put another backwards thinking rigid conservative on the Supreme Court to ruin life for generations to come? With plans to force people to die, as health coverage is removed from them? As we turn on the weak, the needy, those who need just a helping hand to stand again, to those suffering under the opioid crisis? As I read in personal horror and fear about the plans to let Big Pharma free to roam where they will in product, in fees, with regulations rolled back, with decisions from the government that seem to doom those of us with chronic conditions?
     Tremors of division? Chaotic rumblings within the body politic? Or hope that we can find our way home again, on the right path, to be America once more? The America that we are supposed to be. The America who does not buddy up to her enemies and lie for them. North Korea and that great guy who rules them, oh, yeah, he is doing more nuclear stuff, but he is a great guy! Oh, and those 200 bodies or bones of the MIAs from the Korean War, you know, the ones we had received already? Not really. Not a fingernail did we get!! And as for Putin and his landgrab, especially in Crimea, why that was okay, because there are a lot of Russian speaking people there so he has a claim! So says Trump, that deep thinker! So does that mean that England has a claim on us because we speak English? And who should invade whom - US into Canada or Canada into US?
     Sublime to ridiculous and yet, follow the threads here in today's world and see if the ridiculous and the once unthinkable have not become or are becoming reality? Lots more marches. Lots more protest - though that seems to irk Donny a lot as protest appears to be against his ideas of 'democracy'! The path is long and twisted and yes, even hurtful, but it must be walked. It must!
