THE BELLS ARE RINGING

     Nope, not the ones we hear so annoyingly at times! These are the bells of no physical sounds, but of much sound concerning our lives. These are the sounds which we are supposed to hear in our minds and souls, the ones warning us when we go down the wrong path and/or allow terrible sequences of events to occur, and worse, recur.
     Let's talk about presidents. First, we have the worst one ever at this point in time. I never thought I would ever say Carter's weaknesses and incompetence could be topped, nor his solicitation of hatred via his prejudice against Israel, but here we are with Trump as President. This current inmate, whoops, occupant, of that office, is not only incapable of handling and fulfilling the duties of the offfice, but he is so often and so correctly described as having mental issues and problems with truth and honesty and linear thinking. In fact, I often believe he does not think at all, certainly not now, if ever.
     So is that the bell tolling for him? Have people finally come to their senses and realized the serious and possibly fatal error of their ways? Do they understand that perhaps we have crossed the point of no return on environment? Do they understand that so many heads of state now are also ignoring environmental concerns even as we watch the rain forests burn,the air become more and more polluted, carbon dioxide rising in the air, water tainted by poionous chemicals, species being eliminated, huge forest fires all over, coal and other polluting industries allowed to run wild, and the flooding and the droughts increase, the hurricanes are fierce monsters, and yet, here we go round the mulberry bush, living in self imposed ignorance of the future awaiting us and our kids. This, of course, presented to you and sponsored by, our president and his minions of fatcat and corrupt desires and needs. Bottom lines, folks, bottom lines are the deciding factor in case you might not have noticed that.
     But bottom lines evidently do not matter for the nation as our bottom line has increased our red lines by over a trillion dollars and more is coming down the line. But all is well, of course, as long as the tax cuts for the rich remain in place and the little people eat the debt and the resultant issues and problems.
     The bells are tolling for an approaching end of the American Era. We have ceded this Era, this Age, by our behavior during the last few years. We have declared open warfare against those with other hues of skin tones, those of different religions, those who come from places other than Western Europe, and those who might need some help as they get started in a new land, growing to contribute much to the nation. But we spurn them, we okay open hatred, tweet ignorantly, in illiterate language, and praise the bad, calling the naked emperor a fully clothed man.
     The world does not trust America any longer nor can they rely on a steady path from it. Its ostensible head is wacked out, to put it mildly and is as obstinate and childish as a two year old toddler, only it is not so cute in the bloated body of Trump. Nor can we expect any kind of positive growth for he gets worse and worse. His only change and growth is negative.
      We can only look forward to worse. The judges that are getting nominated and rushed through by McConnell in the Senate are the worst ever. Most are prejudiced, have no idea about proper judicial behavior, lack knowledge of the law and how to interpret, and they will kill all that is positive here for the next four decades at a minimum. More is planned for this last year of Trump - oh, please, G-d and voters, - and to the defeat of Trump we must add the defeat of the morally deficient Republican Senators and candidates as they lack any kind of courage in defying the man they admit privately is catastrophic for them and for the country.
     Yet this man continues to talk of extending his reign as he rules by dictat, by executive orders of various levels of harm and just total 'wrongness'! There is just so much wrong with him, with his crooked and smelly finances, the emoluments issues, his lies, lies, lies, the incompetent and morally vacant appointees, the brain drain of our government, his totally absurd behavior.
     And he is apparently not the only President who speaks of extending reigns, of changing rules to allow this. Just look around at the world, at how so many governments now change - or do not. Look at the mess in England, with their own version of Trump as Johnson, and the head opponent, the even worse hatemonger, Corbyn. Look at the atmospheres of the lands of the world, violence wracked, hopelessness rising and half the world running away from their destroyed and dangerous countries into the countries of the other half of the world, creating intolerable conditions for all. No clues, no ideas, no help, to deal wtih this mess, only more shouting and more hatred, more threats.
     Look around closer to home and see what you have. I know that here in CV we have a similar issue, albeit on a smaller scale. We, too, have a President who refuses to leave, feeling entitled, glorifying himself, yes, actually in the full sense of the word, having his pet minions add to the crowing, the barking and the mewling, and self promotes in the Village Rag, with not one sign or notation that what follows is purely political, an article promoting his re-election, thus the contiued use of the hijacked term limits clause, and vague terms of contributions. Still looking!
     What is not mentioned are the catastrophic errors, of leaving $11 as the total sum available to the Village as they robbed Peter to pay Paul in a disastrous paving job for which we are still reaping the consequences - crumbling roads, patchwork repairs, no lane markings throughout the Village roads other than some on the perimeter road, ponding where there never was, and lack of funding for new paving contracts, for preparing, so late already too, for post Millennium, unless he is going to sell us down the river and threaten all to agree to it as did his predecessor, Kurt Weiss, new fencing around the entirety of the Village, changes needed to work successfully with a changing demographic and so much more. Is it hard? Oh, yes, no denying that. Has he done anything worthwhile? Yes, the use of computers in UCO, the constant upgrading of the UCO building along with the guardhouses - okay, but why always there? Are there no other places that could have used that infusion of money? I can certainly think of many. The gate programs. Oops, not so good either were they as we wasted thousands upon thousands for new methods that did not work and cost us more to change! Defender of democracy? Uh, but is that true as we remember his opposition then and now to free speech, - following in someone else's footstep? Calling it fake news and who can forget his threats, constant threats, to call the Sheriff down upon his opponents as he called them names - perhaps he taught that 'skill' to you know who. We can remember the Assembly where we had armed guards - Armed - standing akimbo, staring down the audience, the use of armed guards to intimidate, this in a place where so many in the audience were Holocaust survivors so imagine what they thought and felt as once again, armed guards were standing over them in a place they once thought safe.
     It is time for a change in many areas of the world, in our country in particular and down to the nitty gritty of administration change here. If we do not - then do not look in the mirror, for there you will see the true weak points  and enablers of the  people who are so bad for us, who need to go.
