So said the pathetic, ridiculous and dangerous man who is at the forefront of an historical moment. Not because he did something superior or heroic, but rather because he is the most dangerous president ever, a threat to the very continued existence of our country, certainly as a democracy. Certainly as a country which continues as a three branched government replete with checks and balances. In other words, he is an existential threat to our way of life, our place in history, to us. Period.
Yet another stiff backed judge has been appointed and confirmed to the 9th Circuit. At this rate, before this man is either removed from office or loses the election, we will have solidified American law for the next two decades minimum, and should the worst happen, and the man get reelected or refuse to leave office upon loss of the election, well, count the country out. End of it all.
There is no existential threat to us more dangerous than Trump. He has consorted with the enemy, a crime of treason. He has denied relief to those in need. He has deserted those fighting for democracy around the globe. He has 'made love' to dictators of all stripes. He has cheated so many others that it is beyond count, and just paid $2 million dollars to compensate for the money he stole from his supposed charity to finance his own needs. More than ridiculous. He is disgusting, a perversion of all that America is supposed to be at her best.
Most shameful of all is the fact that people refuse to accept the truth about him and the harm he has done and will continue to do to our country, the very fact that he has caused a tribal mentality to rule the day so we are not Americans once more, but rather Democrats or Republicans, extremists or progressives, and the violence has risen dramatically, especially that driven by hate. Yesterday's murders in Jersey City was yet another example of what we can expect from this man and his ilk - or worse.
We have an exelllent opportunity to change the path of history, to rescue our country from the disaster that is quickly overtaking it, but there is apparently no honor left in the Senate, no honor left in men who behave as spoiled infants, even demon chldren of the movie variety. Where and why and how has this happened? How has one man been able to harness the hidden hatreds of the country and allow them free reign. Why have we not risen in protest about this? Do we need to import the Hong Kong protesters, the heroic people of Ukraine as they fight on alone against the massive powers and plans of Russia and Putin, those fighting for environmental repair from all over the world? Will we need outside help but then again, we are not to invite foreign interests to intercede in our business. Is there hope left?
Obstruction of Congress. Abuse of power. And a man who sits and screams that he is ignoriong it all, even as he tweets maniacally about it. And are these two Articles the last word? Nope, not at all. There is obstruction of justice. There is the problem of emoluments. There is criminal and financial fraud. I guess that we should say G-d bless the man for being so generous in the ways in which we can impeach and remove him!!!!!
Stretch the point a bit and is he guilty of murder, being complicit in the deaths of so many, of children, of harm to them, due to his immoral and dangerous immigration policies? Hmmmm. Think about that. Has he done enough to be considered an abettor of murder, of physiccal harm, of assault upon immigrants? Well.....
No, the words in the title, his words in yet another rant of his, his screams for witnesses that he wants called, even as he obstructs the subpoenas and appearances of witnesses who know the truth, these words are insufficient. They might describe some of his behavior but not the awesome historical moment we are now involved with, deep within it. History will judge us and I hope and pray that we come down on the right side of it all.
Am I hopeful? No, sorry to say. The Republicans have caved and the numbers tell the story. Are we doomed? I leave that to you to answer for yourselves. As for me, well, you know where I stand. Sadly so. Bigly sadly so.
May G-d have mercy on all our souls, especially those slain via the hatred this man has revived and encouraged.
