...though not for an important date. Just in posting the blog today.
It seems a miracle took place last night. What, you ask? Did world peace break out? Did somebody finally take fashion to heart and don orange? Did the Middle East break pita and challah together over a dream agreement? Did the pandemic miraculously disappear?
Sorry, none of those very important and wished for, heartily desired, events took place. We remain in the midst of a mess. However, let's take stock and then we will come to the miracle. First, I am in such a good mood that we must, no other way, take account of all the good and positive events and actions in our lives.
So. We got rid of Trump and Biden now is in that Oval Office. We have a President who knows how to talk and act. If he does not please all of us at least we all know that there is sanity reigning and yes, all you Trumpers know that too, admit it out loud in public or not. We have a man with the courage to tell the governors to help or "get out of the way" as we combat COVID in all its manifestations. We have an infrastructure bill making its way into life despite all the blockades of the GOP. We have sensible school boards and other governmental figures calling for mask mandates again. I hate those masks too, but c'mon, you know it makes sense. Mask or coffin? Hmmm. To me seems a n easy choice. But then again, we continue to have some intelligence deprived people who refuse the vaccine. Guess there are those who deeply desire death and infection over cooperation and health. Go figure!!
Anyway, back to the good news. So, my favorite team has suffered greatly this Olympics, the soccer team which had been so triumphant through the years. However, this is a time when players, old for the game in active competitive format, retire and allow the next generation of players their time in the spotlight, all the while inspired by them, coached, encouraged by them And hey! Look at the women's basketball team! Hoorah!!!! They roll on into the semifinals with gold in our vision. Go women!!!
Personally, it has been great as well. I seem to be status quo right now in PD. Long may it remain so and long may I stay upright, rather than on the floor! I have developed an interest, and perhaps even discovered or uncovered a talent in art woodwork with art and in abstract painting. Go figure that one! Sorry, art teachers of my past. I know you all figured I was hopeless! I am having the time of my life doing all that and talking about the results with friends and family. Best one yet? While reading the NYT, there was as picture and story of an artist and her exhibition. Guess whatt!!! Her painting was a duplicate of the style of mine! Could have been mine. Hah!!! Go figure that one as well. The Lord G-d does definitely work in mysterious ways.
So much more. Engagement in the family. Grandchildren progressing in life. Plenty of books on my shelves and more waiting in line. The movies are back open again and just awaiting some blockbusters long postponed, but there have been some decent ones already. Go! Enjoy yourself.
People have grown in their thinking, know the risks, for the most part, about keeping quiet re prejudice, re attempts to overthrow the government. If not perfect, well, this country does try, does it not? We have erred at times, many times, but we have come back, done better. Not perfect, but then again , who is?
So, the miracle of the night. I slept through the night. Cannot believe it. What a difference a few hours make. Not tired this morning, as I usually am, generally arising somewhere around 2 AM, knowing that was it. I slept through the night! I feel like the oh so happy parent when the baby finally does that!! Ahhh, the miracle of sleep, that rejuvenating experience - when it happens.
I slept through the night! Hoorah and hooray!! Please, Lord, can I have some more?
