Wait! Stop the presses. Wrong tense. The circus is not coming. It is already here and has been for far too long a time. In fact, many, including myself, are finding ourselves rather tired of this overstaying circus and wish that the officials responsible for oversight of temporary spectacles and events would sit up, straight, standup, put themselves together and send the circus away. Better yet - dismantle it, send the offending members of the circus to well-deserved long delayed consequences of their overstay. Return to normal life as soon as possible. The news is tiring, exhausting, draining the energies of all. Most dangerous, is it inducing people to turn off their eyes and ears, cancel their thinking process, in a mighty effort to remain sane in an increasingly insane world.
I have long been walking along the precipice of this devolving society, watching the edges crumble, stepping back from its dangerous rim, wondering why authorities have been so long in coming, hesitating, even refusing, to apply the law to the offending circus and its responsible, major players. I believe, so hope I am wrong, that the long delayed full accounting of the circus and its members, have placed us in a most dangerous situation. We teeter and totter, trying to maintain our balance until someone comes along to stabilize us. I hope and pray that the 'rescuer' is a full fledged dues paying member of the Democracy Club, rather than a full fledged member of the Fascist Club. Too many of them floating around, scrabbling for power and wealth and rolling over all in their way. The wheels on their busses are crusty with the remains.
Full disclosure. A big grin on my face at a display which brought pleasure to my heart. Trump sitting at a table, a defendant, in a likely trial to cause him great agita. Oh, he can make his stupid faces and deranged motions, but perhaps we are finally at the end of the beginning and the beginning of the end looks promising. So much so for all who have been awaiting the moment. His perpwalk, decked out in orange, with bracelets of steel. Aahhh, does my heart good. My heart aching for our nation. The damage he has caused, permanent damage.
The criminal cartel, the Trump gang, for that is what they are, will go under, just as did all the other untouchable gangs. Touched they were; so will this one. Their bus, its wheels crusty with the remains of those it ran over, will be retired. The crazed criminal, blackmailing lunatics of Congress and other levels and departments of government, top to bottom, will be rounded up, returned to where they belong. Certainly not in any seat of possible influence or power. Gaetz, Boebert, Greene, Bishop, Thomas, Kavanaugh, Alito, Cannon, DeSantis, Abbott, dear Lord, I could go on forever - all gone, away, no more damage to inflict upon us. How they ever reached this point is upon us, careless, apathetic, not understanding, whatever the reason -it boils down to us.
There remains a long way to go, much to do, much to undo. Perhaps it will even have its violent days. That is actually a possible consequence. But we must retain this nation. Despite its many faults and errors, it continues to remain a beacon of hope for many, a dream that can come true. It represents the best of humanity, the possibilities endless.
If. If. If. If we pay attention. If we work together rather than separately. That is where we went wrong, allowing for deranged dangerous individuals, scum, to rise to the top.
And here we are.
The judge in a related trial said this:
"Based on the evidence, the Court finds it more likely than not that President Trump corruptly attempted to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021,"
How true.
How late too many came to accept its truth.
How many continue to refuse to do so.
