HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF?

In 1967, barely twenty years after the end of the Holocaust and the pogroms of surviving Jews who returned, seeking their families and their homes, the Arab countries surrounding Israel decided that enough was enough and Israel had to go. They blockaded the Gulf of Aqaba, thus blocking the port of Eilat. When Israel appealed to the UN, to the world, to do as they were supposed to do both legally and ethically, they showed their true inner soul and sailed away as fast as they could, leaving Israel alone, again, one amongst many.
So Israel responded in a way that would insure its survival as best they could and we won, defeating our enemies, the same enemies we have now, only today's versions are even worse, falling into the category of terrorists, the same terrorists who blow up buildings and planes and shoot people or kill them as they blow themselves up. The same countries who wanted Israel gone then, with its 1967 borders, are now stating that "Oh, we want peace, just give us back everything and one more thing, there are to be no Jewish people in the state of Palestine - but - there will be Palestinians in the State of Israel with full rights and of course a swarm of people who claim to be refugees from 1948." Simple, basically. Let Israel just give up, die, force its citizens to leave and all will be well.
Well, time and again, this has happened and Israel has learned that for its security, for its very existence, it must rely on itself. In Israel's case terrorists turn into "militants". The world has astigmatism and does not see that the targets of the Gazan rockets are civilians or better yet, an international act of terror as the rockets are aimed at a nuclear reactor. Time and again the nations of the world line up Gazan casualties against Israeli ones as if the score were equal, it would be more palatable to the world. The reason we have fewer than the Gazans is that Israel insists on safe rooms, on shelters, has Red alerts to warn its civilians and shoots down as many rockets as it can. And as for the wounded and killed, we handle it. We care for them, we cry for them.
What other country in the world calls people beforehand to get out before their terrorist center of operations is bombed.? What other nation in the world sends leaflets, sends a dud "knocking" on the roof to warn them again to get out? The reaction - they form a human shield and go to their deaths, knowing in their fear and fanaticism that the world will screw Israel once again for their deaths. I wonder, do we telephone the terrorists in Yemen before we blow their car up? Did we send a little heartwarming and warning note to Bin Laden that we were coming? NO!!!
Now Hamas is hurting badly with Israel staying out but bombing from above, with warnings, and destroying their infrastructure, their tunnels, arm stores, suicide schools, no matter where they build them and make no mistake, they build them in hospitals, in schools, among civilian homes, mosques - all to gain benefit from their "poor me" publicity.
For millennium the nations of the world have tried to destroy the Jewish nation. Pillaging, raping, kidnapping, forced conversions, forced exiles from lands where they had lived for hundreds of years and where they had contributed much to the country, and scientific genocide in the twentieth century! But we are here and here we remain. So when you read the reports in the papers, read them with a grain of salt, possibly substitute our own country in there. Perhaps getting rocketed from Mexico or Canada or Cuba - sound familiar? What would we do? What would we want to be done?
Several years ago Michael Bloomberg, then mayor of NYC, was asked what he thought of the Gazan intrusion and "Of course, wasn't it overreacting". His answer was simple, and I paraphrase. If there was a religious nut banging on your door screaming that he was coming in to kill you, would you like us to respond with one officer or as many as we needed and to take appropriate action? The answer  is obvious.
Isn't the world tired yet of trying to kill us? And make no mistake about it, anti - Zionism is another term for anti Semitism. Even Martin Luther King, Jr. stated that. Enough already. Enough.
