I picked up this book on a whim as I was going to the checkout machine. The title intrigued me and I thought it might be a good book to take along while we waited in a doctor's office. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised as I began the book. Yes, there are creatures, monsters, but not from the beyond. These monsters are man made, horrors, abominations made my men who meddle in areas which belong to G-d.
It is a great story, but also has many things to chew on. Do we have the right to mess with nature, creating hybrids of monstrous natures and motivations? Why do we waste our brains and money on war machines rather than get some peace machines going? We see people at their best and at their worst and what I like is that there is no sweet "happily ever after" ending. I won't tell you what it is as it is part of the thought provoking questions raised by this book.
This book, a paperback, can be found in the West Palm Beach Library on Clematis Street but I am sure the local library will order it if people request it. It is well worth the read. It is too bad that we humans almost always are the authors of our own mishaps and disasters. The question is - does it have to be that way?
