Gary raises an interesting question in his posts today. Exactly who is responsible for the cost of various items here in CV? This issue of the 19 cameras in the Village has arisen and Gary feels that WPRF should be responsible for they would cover areas that belong to WPRF and thus should not come down on our side of the debit sheet. Personally, I do not want these cameras anywhere in the Village, no matter who would be paying. If PBSO feels they need these cameras for traffic enforcement, then let them install it after proving legitimate access and right to do so. If not, if they cannot, then so much the better. We are not at the Big Brother state here yet, and thank G-d for that.
However, the next issue he raises is the issue of the lift/elevator at Hastings. It is agreed that the current lift is not truly at an optimum condition, to say the least, and someone could get hurt really badly while it is in use. Now that is an issue that must be taken up but I really do feel that this is a capital improvement and hence, WPRF should be responsible for its cost and installation. They do not want to and instead tried to get an equal cost LIFT at $148,000 dumped down on our shoulders. Only thanks to the good work of several committee members were we saved from this and trust me, it was not David Israel nor his buddies. But let me ask this question. Should the worst happen and there be a bad accident, will WPRF and UCO then work together as co-defendants in a lawsuit? Can't we simply work together properly to get a new mechanism in there, be fair about the cost, and consider the safety of our residents as the premium issue here?
The competition here seems to be WPRF trying to spend our money as fast as possible, what with dream projects that are unnecessary and expensive and us simply caving. Why are our tickets so expensive? Why are we blocked from our rights in WPRF facilities for which we pay MILLIONS of dollars to rent?
Just exactly what is going on with WPRF and UCO and CV? Do we have to wait till the Millennium is up in order to straighten this imbalance or will it be even worse if we do not start working on that VERY soon?
We need a truly good and skilled attorney to check over our documents and agreements, not Rod Tennyson, and see where we can improve the status quo. But that will never happen under this UCO. There is some kind of unholy stasis between them and the truth is, that we are at the receiving end of a load of garbage, rather than positive results for us.
