A CAMPAIGN'S TONE

Before I write anything else, I just want to compliment the booking agent for our shows. I have attended most of the shows this season and have not come across one sour apple in the bunch. Kudos to the agent and thanks. Last night's show was superb. Now it is up to the residents to show up and enjoy.
We are in the midst of two campaigns. One is for the USA and one is for CV and trust me, there are many, many times that I feel as if CV has no place in the USA what with the Constitution being abrogated on a daily basis. In any case, while there are additional positions going up for sale, the prime one is for President. Federal first.
This is a nasty campaign. Besides that the candidates are nothing to write home about, for the most part, it seems as if tearing into an opponent is the way to go and just ignore the issues. (Sounds familiar, does it not.) And even when the issues are mentioned, a blurry statement is made without full information and rather mostly without thinking it through. Pie in the sky medical proposals are made and when one follows the trail either forward or backwards - it just ain't gonna work! Bold statement are made for or against the treaty with Iran, yet sensible and doable steps to take with violations, steps to get Europe on board, are never stated. And that is just within the Republican primaries.
For all their statements, the Democrats are also in a mess and while not as vicious with each other, the two main candidate are beginning to join the bashfest, much to their shame. Sanders is trying very hard to distinguish himself as a gung-ho liberal, very different from the conservative Republicans and his own moderate party opponent, Clinton. What a waste of brain power and possibilities in all this.
That this is the best that the country has to offer is shameful. That Sarah Palin can think that supporting Trump would be a positive step for him is amazing. Wonder if they both see Russia from an Alaskan backyard? Are there any candidates that we would be proud to put up with the other leaders of the world (and sometimes I think yes, for most of them are also nothing to write home about) and trust them to be bold but stable, giving and also taking what needs to be taken, and just plain understanding and caring, able to balance the needs of a foreign policy with the needs of  the American population who have so many needs. Our social policies are greatly to be found wanting and must be addressed. Women's rights are being stepped on all over the world and unfortunately here is no different and leave it to some of the candidates and we will be back to Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Cunningham! Issues, issues, issues and some realistic and detailed plans - but where are they?
And now to the local news. Gary gnu.... Oops, wrong show, wrong decade, wrong century. But, David Israel who oh so noticeably prides himself on his techie side -does he have any other- has resorted so sadly to a letter from years ago, YEARS AGO, from a Boca CV resident telling of the wonderful Prez we have here, dealing with Wi Fi. Well, how'd that turn out for us? We escaped a multi million dollar debacle by the skin of our teeth and only due to the continued and determined struggle of the few at that time to get the point across - BAD IDEA. We already had a multi million dollar debacle with the roads. The fact that David has to resort to a years old letter and a non resident who did not know the whole story of what goes on and went on here is truly pathetic.
But this is the only place David can go to now for support. He has even alienated many of his former sycophants what with his foul name calling and public abuse. So, tone of the campaign? Nasty as all get out! And why? Because this is the only thing that David Israel can do. He refused to discuss the issues because he cannot! He has no policies other than what his little heart desires. He has no policies for long time planning - other than to see our water go to wrack and ruin over the years of his presidency. Good job - you succeeded. He had a plan to bring us to the bucolic feel of Loxahatchee with their dirt roads and good going again, sir, we are quickly reaching that point.
He has decided to emulate his historical and political heroic figures, fascists one and all. And good job again. The rights granted to every American seem to have vanished here all the while his skills at being an informant grow apace, truly a fascist skill and approach to life.
He resorts to the topic that most dictators and evil people do who care not for others or for anything other than their own power and that is patriotism. It makes me sick as he keeps telling us how he saved us after 9/11. Really, even our government was not so bad off that they had to go back almost ten years in time to bring back a computer rider to formulate plans, particularly one who was on the Soviet desk and how'd that work out for us? Not so good as perestroika and the downfall of the Soviet Union took us by complete surprise. Good analysis there, Davey, real good. But keep dreaming - but not on our dime.
So, the tone here - nasty and I will confess that I have my share as do all of us. Read the comments from the two or three who bother to do so on David's blog - by the way which does not belong to us or CV so that writer that David quotes is wrong again - nasty, nasty. Read my comments - oh, always erased. So read the comments left on my blog - uh uh. Will not pollute the air- like that phrase, M. Israel? I will not assault people's minds and eyes with the garbage they send through.
So why sharp tongued at times? Because I am not afraid of David Israel and that is why he hates me so much. I care not for what he tries to pull or put over. I care not when he calls me names or shouts at me in public. Far better people than he have tried that and it does not work. Right is right. Fair is fair. The people who strive for others, to improve things, are always cursed by those who want to retain the status quo for it works for them and no one else.
Why the tone? Ask David Israel. Ask him why no free campaigning? Ask him why snitching is the way he goes. Ask him why there are no debates and free speech in the Clubhouse  and the pools and anywhere else? Ask him why he even believes he has control of affairs outside the Village - a true megalomaniac. A true paranoid person, always afraid of others, always seeking to hide in a lair and let others fight the battles, lets others get shamed all the while he keeps a nasty grip on his "powers". His hot little hands will never let go unless forced to - by our votes or by the natural passage of time, but we cannot wait that long for our Village is in dire straits now.
Wonder how that CV Boca resident feels now? Wonder how he feels about a Village where no debate is encouraged, where financial shenanigans and number tricks are encouraged. Even the Treasurer who acknowledges that our budget is wrong and we will pay the piper soon for that error, even he has not the courage to stand up to his boss and oppose the budget. Such is the level to which we have fallen here.
So nasty is what David Israel is in tackling his opponent, a worthy lady named Phyllis Richland. He attacked her husband, a kind and gentle man, a scholar, a writer and why - because he backed his own wife? Such things are known as human relations, David Israel, though you are severely lacking and deprived in that area. He demeans, or tries to, all of her supporters, all the good work she has done for her Village, for her association and for others. Lies are the order of the day. Evasion of the truth by evading open discussion of issues, of debates, of  free press, the degrading of a free press that has been established here and that is now read in the thousands and distributed thru the mail, thru hand delivery and thru distribution in local businesses and do not think that David Israel has not threatened the owners of those businesses. Some have caved - shame on them but others have thumbed their noses and have not suffered a whit. Believe it or not David, this is still America.
So nasty is the tone all over the country and all over CV. While the rest of the world has had some victories  in Taiwan or Indonesia, small but telling steps, we here are still stuck with dictators, braggarts of naught and worthy of no office. Can we please all agree to change that status quo and be able to look at ourselves in an American mirror once more? Is it not about time?
PS: Just saw more of David's non accomplishments based on that letter. Non idling? Puh-lease! Those buses are still idling by the Clubhouse and the best way to get thru without harm is to go around and miss the smoking are as well. Another David moment!!!!!!!! And the lies just keep on comin'.
