Okay, full disclosure. I was on a high (non chemical, thank you) when I read all the articles and opinions re Trump and Cohen et al. Finally, it seemed, we were on the right path, digging in the correct location, and we were finding gold - or more likely, fool's gold, for it all came from you know who. Having long maintained questioning the legitimacy of his election, of his Presidency, it was comforting to know that now there were greater people than I maintaining the same thing. Interesting questions arise.
If not legitimate then how soon can we get rid of the Demented One and who takes his place. He of the pasted hair, Pence, was placed in office because of Trump, his fortunes tied to his so....he should not be able to take the place as his election was the same illegitimate one. So....Hillary? Nancy Pelosi? A new election? An interim government? Risks of military takeover? Domestic takeovers? A Trump decision to remain in office come what may? The possibilities are rife with danger and I wonder if anyone has taken all this into account and prepared for it. Hopefully so, for it looks as if Trump et al will get their just desserts but we need those desserts to be tasty for us at the same time.
So Ayers is turning down the job that Kelly now has. Hurrah for that, but do not celebrate too soon, for he going off to head the America First PAC, that fascistic organization that hates all that is not white, male, fatcat or base, and preferably has a resume rife with membership in various organizations and has partaken of hateful rallies and demonstrations! Whence do we go from this point, what with people leaving the sinking ship of Trump and the nation goes even more rudderless than ever before.
This administration is rivaling the incompetence of that of Grant and the greed and corruption of Harding. And when one adds to that the nastiness of the people involved, their oh so wrong byways through our national life, then be scared, folks, be very scared.
Last night we had the pleasure and privilege of attending a performance of Alan Cummings, and the man has talent that I never realized. He has a great voice and a wonderful sense of humor. He also has passionate feelings and thoughts about immigration and immigrants. The show was called Legal Immigrant and his passions and feelings were reflected within the cheering of the audience. Time and again one could see that there are friends out there. There are people out there who cannot tolerate the hateful policies we now pursue, the problem we have created with our awful immigration policy, the problem that we have ginned up all on our own.
Lows took place when a couple of hecklers shouted to Cummings that he should go home. Well, morons, he is home, a naturalized and proud citizen of this country made up of immigrants. Like it or not, these are the facts. And the highs again, when these hateful hecklers were shut down by the audience. Yes!!!! There is hope.
So I leave today's blog with two quotations. We have a choice as to how we interpret and react to them and they will be as referential to tomorrow's blog on a different note, as they are to today's.
It is said that the last words of the murdered and brutalized Khashoggi were "I can't breathe." "I can't breathe." These are the friends of Trump and Kushner who ordered and carried this out and we too will not be able to breathe if we allow this terrible and awful and hateful administration to remain in office. We must push for every legal manner in which to get them out and "lock him and them up!"
Finally, this one. Chew well on it today and tonite and in fact, forever.
"What is history? An echo of the past in the future.
A shadow of the future on the past."
Victor Hugo
