Several days after the election, the status quo is in stasis. However, it cannot remain at that position, for nothing in the world can exist long term in a self-sealed environment with no consequences as a result of its isolation. History is replete with countries placed in isolation status due to either political situation or geophysical location or even tradition. But none have remained in such a category because the world grows ever smaller, ever more interwoven, ever more complex. Hence the whence.
Therefore, whence and what will be when the next steps are taken to actually make clear decisions regarding the current snafu in Israel, and for that matter, in the USA as well, and even all the countries of the world which are undergoing rapid change, unfortunately mainly into the past with all the absolutely improper and highly retrogressive lessons being taken to heart and reenergized and regenerated.
What have we done? What have we written in our plan book for the present or worse, even for the future to be upon us at ever faster and perhaps more permanent manner. Those of us who wish to see a better world for all of us are kind of between that famous devil and the deep blue sea. Even deeply wishing to find solutions to all that plague us, is nigh unto impossible due to the fact that people have allowed opinions to solidify into permanent formation most difficult to change, in any forward-thinking manner.
People do not trust us each other anymore. I do not think that we even trust ourselves, so fickle have we become in our stances on and within life. The world has hardened around us, grown multiple shells forbidding any true progress. It has gone even more openly Topsy Turvy in its designation as "Progressive" that which is, indeed, truly Retrogressive and has already brought much harm to the world and its population.
In fact, so desperate are they to heal open weeping wounds, they constantly misstep, make the wrong choices and convince themselves that they can actually improve on what has been before and what is now, and what will be into the future. So deluded are they in this so desperate search they do not realize that they are merely giving new titles for the same old, same old, or using louder voices, uglier words, larger signs, more gross threats and using violence more frequently and forcefully.
The populations of the nations of the world are trying to over shout each other. The talk is raucous, more so than ever before, and their own ears and minds 'hear' what is not there and in fact, will be ever more difficult to achieve in any meaningful manner. The people of the world do not even know what it is, what it means, to listen, to hear, to mull over what we are saying. Interactions and suggestions are misinterpreted, shutting door after door and window after window.
We are always suspicious, many times rightfully so, hence, we approach any idea with our own suspicion. We hesitate even to run the ideas through the sieves of our minds and working brains and keep what is its best and set aside that which is not. However, in fact, depressingly so, I see this situation only getting worse, closing in on impossibility. And there is the fact often denied, that no one people, one nation, one category of thought is solely responsible for the positions we are in right now.
However, as we search, at least some of us, for a way through, willing to forgive much of the past that we are seeing now in the present, we cannot turn a blind eye to reality.
Allies throughout history have turned on each other. Treaties have been made and broken at rapid pace. Consequences dire ensue. At times the ink is not even dry on the treaty before it is violated. Far, far worse is when the worst has become the truth and there is simply no way, no reasonable way, to work our way through the knots we proffer to each other. Knots more difficult to untie than the Gordian Knot.
How many more times a week are we to believe each other's lies? Think that they might actually have been of true faith and desire to return to a peaceful world, where we do not threaten always with the sword, but rather try to see what we can take from the words, the recent actions and build a growing trust. A categorical change for the better. Is there even any possibility that these lies can have any truth to be dredged from them? Or are there times when unfortunately, we must place our trust in our guidance and in what we know. What we can see will never change and do what we must to protect ourselves.
I fear we are at that point. Or damn close to it.
Crazed mobs reaching to shred the flags and the bodies of those they deem enemies. Even as they claim to want to make peace. Egged on by hooligans whose hearts and souls are blackened by the filth contained within.
Those who accuse others of nefarious plans against them, but who are in fact, reiterating their plans for their designated enemies. The ugly falsehoods ginned up by our enemies who accuse us of orchestrating Oct7 in all its ferocity and rampages of murderous hate.
The denying of the truth of the eyes of the hostages who beheld all the clearly not "innocent" civilians who rushed in barely a step behind the armed Nukhba troops of Hamas, to do the same - rob, pillage, rape and slaughter and then hold for whatever nefarious plans they held within. The civilians of Gaza who went about their lives 'neither seeing nor admitting' to the hostages held in tortuous captivity right alongside.
These barbaric scenes are being planned for once again. Our enemies have proven they are capable of planning long term. Are able to infect and infest the ranks of educators at all levels and within the ranks of professionals in all fields, let loose the reins of control in burgeoning circumstances of active hate. All those who do and should know better yet persist in reveling in the sanctioned violence and bloodshed of these 'spontaneous' eruptions. Slap on a kaffiyeh and head out towards the nearest riot and have at it. J'accuse!
This worsening state of the world bodes no good for its future, not only for the future of the Jews, who have faced existential threats many times before and survived them all. But also, to all those in the world who refuse to acquiesce to this tidal wave of hate threatening to drown all in its path.
Careless talk of resumed warfare. Words of rampant violence contaminates all.
Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.
Will we ever find our way through the obfuscating fog of bitterness and ill will? Will we ever understand that it is better to shake hands rather than throw fists at each other? In fact, will we ever reach the time when the swords are obsolete and the lions and lambs of humanity share a world in peace.
I grow more doubtful each day. Not only for my two nations - America and Israel - but also for every nation in and of the world.
There is no escaping the interweaving of threads of life between all.
Would that we all came to our senses and rejected those people of negativity, drowning in rivers and seas of hate and bloodshed, always trying to drown us all in these rank oceans of ugliness?
