BREAK THE GLASS, SOUND THAT ALARM!

      Is it time to panic yet? Many are beginning to think so, what with a President who refuses to obey the law, openly goads and makes fun of other branches of the government, and consistently trying to add to his powers. While this statement  - "behavior not funny and not appropriate" is from Weatherly (Bull) talking about his harassment behavior, it is also what describes this current office holder.
     We are being battered by one blow after another. Revelations are made by associates who resigned due to the bizarre and even possibly illegal actions and policies of Trump. He granted his own children security clearance after they were denied it and even as he told others to get rid of them. He uses, scornfully, the power of faith and religion as the most irreligious President ties up evangelicals in knots, having them forsake their own beliefs as they support the most immoral President ever, as they support a liar beyond any description words can make.
     Ring those bells, for the enemy is upon us, and the enemy is us! We are untrue to our own American beliefs and have chosen odd places to make a stand. A two year old twin is denied citizenship and why? Is it because his parents are gay? Is it because they are Jewish, one Israeli? Is it because this child is a secret superhero who will threaten to topple Trump? What are we doing? What?
     We have gone wholesale into the holding and detaining of people whose only "crime" is that of leading a hopeless and dangerous life who want to change that situation, so they schlep their kids and their parents and their pathetic belongings on thousands of miles in order to turn themselves in to Border patrols and apply for asylum. Tsk, tsk. Do they not realize that they are not wanted here anymore for this President has appealed to the worst elements of people and the nation who engage in threat, actions, profit taking, whatever they can get out of this situation. So silly!!!!
     This man has created an America of tribes. We have become divided by views, refusing to hear those of others, and the hatred and the anger have spread and grown geometrically. The other day there was a group of screaming and hysterical rioters in the NYC Council meeting, ranting and raving with hate, spitting out of their mouths along with the high pitched voices of terror and hatred and the flying saliva. All of this about hating Israel, replete with anti Semitic comments about Jews. It took a courageous man, David Greenfield, to take them to task and expose their nakedness, the truth of anti Israel behavior and the frightening growth and acceptance of anti Semitism here in our country and in the world.
     "Our lives have been interrupted and we feel trapped," she said. "We live with the grave fear that even as Americans our safety is not guaranteed, our voices cannot be properly heard and that our destiny is not in our control."
     That was said by Americans trapped in China, illegally held, separated from their mother, even as Trump, who poses himself as a hero for rescuing trapped Americans, ignores them, even as he threatens the Chinese, the sanity of the world, even as he crashes the economy. So why are these people left behind and why do all Americans approach the alarm box with hammer poised to strike the glass, all the while feeling the same feeling expressed in those words. What have we done? What have we allowed?
     There was a ceremony held in the White House for the Red 'Socks', 'World Cup champions'. No kidding - this is from our oh so esteemed President and his illiterate and incompetent team members. These are our leaders? These are the people making the new rules? These are the people who wish to put women back in the cages made by men? These are our leaders!!!!!!!
     So ring those bells, sound the alarm, break the glass, for time is running out. And the most frightening thing is that even as we run out the clock, so is the rest of the world, be it Hungary, Poland, Russia, China, Venezuela, Brazil, just pick the country, and see the growth of nativism, of deep and dark hatreds coming to light, as the evil heads of demons surface in human bodies and faces. Do not waste time for the world is destroying itself as it ignores the desperate situation of the environment, as they continue quests for power, even as the world is changing, deteriorating, even as Mad Max is growing.
      Heaven help us, yes, but we need to help ourselves as well - and soon, very soon, or all will be lost, the red lines all crossed over, our freedoms gone, hatred rife in the land, and the usual targets in the eye of danger.
      Am I a Cassandra? Possibly, but remember - she was correct about the city of Troy, considered nuts as they were in the position of victor, but who was proven right in the end? All of us Cassandras writing, blogging, shouting from the rooftops, all of us wish and hope that we are wrong, but that hope is dimming hourly. Hear those bells. See the hands of the Doomsday Clock moving ever so closer to strike the hour of midnight. Listen. Watch. Think. Act.
