OH YES IT CAN!!!

     It can't happen here. Or so they say. But it can and perhaps what is more frightening is that it has already begun. 
     What is the topic of the day? Simply this. We are running full tilt at a severe and sharp turn in our country, in our government and in our very framework. Nah, you say. Nuh-uh the younger generation says, but unfortunately those answers are sadly incorrect.
     So what is this that cannot happen but is actually happening and we are so obliviously ignoring it, not seeing it, other than a few frightened people who are deemed alarmists, reading into things what is really not there. But it is; it truly and frighteningly is.
     The arrogant and Demented Toddler who is so enamored of himself that he continuously makes up flattering lies about himself, has taken the first steps. He has floated the idea of him as a Ruler for Life, pushing suggestions of popular demand that he stay on for extra years. He has played musical chairs with his appointees, none better than any other and, in fact, most besmirched with the mud of corruption, greed, incompetence and sheer toadying to their boss. That goes for his underlings in the Senate and House who have totally subjugated themselves to his will. 
     At this time, simply reading that paragraph should set off alarm bells in your head. This man who hobnobs with dictators, who wants to emulate their power, whose greed rivals theirs, whose lies top theirs, has been trying on a new suit for a President. It is the one wherein the man within that suit runs the government by dictat, by fiat, by executive order and the job of the other two branches of government has turned into affirming organs rather than questioning ones, arguing ones, defying ones. They are populated with people who have lost their spines and minds, courage having seeped out and away  and the toadying for favors just sickening. So it can't happen here? Oh yes it can.
     We are told by soothsayers that we need to accept the man and his peccadilos as temporary and when the time comes he will be pushed out and away. We just have to be patient. Really? Seems to me that we have heard those sentiments expressed before in history, in fact, less than a hundred years ago. And look at how that turned out. Not so good, did it?
     Rights of the human being simply by virtue of being a human. Remember that school of thought? Well, it seems to have gone down the drain for the most part and the remnants are swirling the drain. It appears to be that rights are now to be determined by ethnicity, race, religion, family and tribe, skin color, down to percentages and places of origin and again, where have we seen that before? In fact, it is now rampant across the globe. Just pick up any paper, turn on the news, check the true news sites online ad see what comes up. Google it and read, much to the detriment of rights.
     So where is the ballyhoo that should be in the press right now? Well, the press is evidently the enemy of the people or so says the wannabe Ruler for Life. The ex press secretary shut down the conferences asnd briefings and left the news to bits and pieces of perverted remarks coming from the Rose Garden or worse, from weird, misspelled, on the edge of insanity tweets from the man who thinks government should be run via as few letters as possible and never mind correct grammar, sentences or sense!!
     But all this that can happen here is still missing one essential part, you argue. Well, think again and ask yourself if that is truly so. We have hate chanters rising again, coming out of their wormholes, hate groups online with horrific outpourings of lies and filth. Idiot people who believe their rantings and who quote them as stone written truths!! We have officers of the law who mistake legality with morality and who use the excuse of "just doing my job, upholding the law and what can I do" to do their miserable and inhumane jobs, and worse, do it with enthusiasm. 
     Why, how, could we have let this develop? Why, how do we think that insisting on 48 hours notice so the mess can supposedly be cleaned up, see, nothing here, and no one would get the truth? Truly? With close to 10,000 CBP officers posting vile hate memes, cartoons, mock scenarios of gross events, posting right out there, then what can we expect? When children, women and men are abused, and yes, tortured, all apparently with governmental blessings, well, it can happen here and yes, it has already begun and is well on the way to further deveopments.
     So what is it? It is the turning of America, the reshaping of America, the loss of the most wonderful imperfect experiment that mankind has tried. It is the devolving of our country. It is the shaming of our country. And it is the viciousness with which it is happening. It can't happen here? We do not have the mindset, the people to enforce, the history ? Oh yes, we do and oh yes it can.
      If we do nothing now, if we allow hate to win,, nastiness , viciousness, to thrive and prosper, then it is upon us and we will be shamed in the annals of history for all time to come. We are already in an awful place simply by virtue of the fact that the Demented Toddler is in office, uses his family as his negotiators, much to our detriment, a popular method of demagogues, and has an actual following of deluded nonthinking people who do not see the forest for the trees.
     It can happen here and is already here. What is next? That is up to us. I hope, I pray, that we all get back on the same page and turn this man and his hooligans and hateful minions out of office, out of DC, out of State Legislatures, out of the private lives of women, telling them when to have and not have babies, and charge them with murder if their pregnancy is terminated by some accident or mishap!!! Oh, it can happen here and is already here!
