I, along with so many others face a soul rending, heart shredding dilemma. Close relatives, my extended family, so many friends, in fact, the entire Jewish population, my heart cries, and the real tears are always there these past few days. The horrific videos that the animals disseminate, all to indicate their triumphs, as they wage war on infants, toddlers, caging them in kennel cages, abandoning them!!!! To what fate!!!
This, more than anything rends the soul, the inhumanity brutal, even as they try to play the victim, even as their war goes on, further, with prime targets the elderly, the children, the parents and grandparents who were together for the holidays. Even as they stymie responses from Israeli soldiers as the enemy walks around in uniforms of Tzahal, flaunting hostages, daring the soldiers to shoot.
Heartbreaking tales of bereft distraught families, seeking any news about their missing family members, their friends gone silent. The hundreds of youths at the music festival herded, like cattle, into sure death or worse, a captivity and gruesome fates. Heartless as it might seem, their fate is assured, nothing positive, not a wisp, not a memory of any hope. They are as dead, whether we like it or not. Or worse, tortured, threatened, driven insane, as they watch their children shot before their eyes - or worse. As they watch their elderly grandmother dragged in the streets, displayed as trophies of victory.
The truth of the matter is that there are no negotiations possible, certainly not now, for hostage taking is a longstanding tactic of Hamas and others of their disgusting ilk. It has proven advantageous for them so hey, grab hundreds and raise the blackmail cost, ramp up terror within the hearts of any compassionate human, certainly in the families, and force horrid lose/lose choices upon the nation, a nation which has always valued human life, warned enemies to evacuate, and now, when all-out war must be waged, heavy consequences paid, the world begins again, always again, to shriek of innocents in Gaza.
There. Are. None.
How about the innocents of the past three days. How about that while Israel has been able to absorb true refugees, remnants of European and North African Jewry, the deported Jews of Arab lands, even as they fought for their survival, why are the 'refugee' camps still in existence. The population could have been easily absorbed, but Arab nations thought otherwise. Use the Palestinians, a designation I have problems with, to serve as great irritants to the world, distractions from egregious human rights violations within their own countries.
Now the choice thrust upon us. Cede control, shred any positive future possibility, or deal a deathblow to Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and Iran while we are at it. Unfortunately, our hostages and thousands of our kids will be lost in vicious battle. The alternative? Loss once again of a state for Jewish people, where they are welcomed, feel at home, find refuge from the coldness of the lands of Exile. Horrid, yet what else are we left with.
This has been the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. It is a rerun of the images of that awful time, as children are marched out with hands in the air. As women are pulled by their hair, thrown into trucks and cars. Vicious. Bloodthirsty. So, many "innocents" in Gaza or Lebanon where Hezbollah reigns?? Where candy is distributed as Israelis die? Where all brandish rifles to use against citizens of Israel? Who attack Jews all over the world??!!
Well, there are no innocents, and despite their best attempts, their worst inhumanity and savagery revealed, despite exposing themselves as the monsters they are, we will not give in. We will not bow to their ungodly pressures nor of the world. We are entitled to survive as do others, as do all nations.
As Netanyahu said in his speech, as I have been maintaining for as long as I can remember, good things, even if wracked by horror and death, of our own, must be faced, acknowledged, difficult as it will be. But only achievable in any positive ending if we do it together.
Only together, to quote his very words.
I care greatly, weep for the lives of my people lost in a ground invasion. Tears flow at the thoughts of the hostages, at the plight of those encaged babies. And yes, the shedding of lives of many in Gaza but that cannot be helped. The bible tells us, if one comes to kill oneself, rise up first and strike him down.
That is what Israel must do.
The rest of us must join together, even as we have done for Yitzy, now bearing up under chemo side effects, and worry over Israel, his promised trip when declared cured.
Altogether, folks, with realty, and doubt and concern and fear but with a surety that this is what must be done.
I care, I really do, but not at the expense of my own. Never again and certainly not within our own nation, our own acreage, no bigger than the state of New Jersey.
Altogether we will stand, strong in any necessity, any action a must to undertake.
Together. To ensure the survival of the State of Israel, that there will always be an Israel. Israel. There will always remain an Israel, unless their Lord abandons them, in the form of deserting, cowardly nations who refuse to face the truth, and cease the policy of useless, dangerous, appeasement.
Together.
Tomorrow. Today.
And together.
Only and always together.
Together, always together.
United for good.
Together.
Together.
HEAL THE WORLD.
HEAL YITZY!
