Sorry folks. I already wrote a piece in the middle of the nite, but I am just so angry with the arrogance of these people that I have to write another piece.
These people strut around the yard that is UCO with the false pride of a bantam rooster. Peck peck peck. I would say that there is an inordinate amount of hubris here, but then that would mean they are tragic heroes and heroes they are most definitely not.
What they are,are petty despots, looking to rule in what is a big pond for them, thinking they can pull the wool over people's eyes indefinitely and working hard to keep it that way with their awful by laws they are cranking up to shove on us sometime in the warmer months when fewer opponents are present in the DA. We must stop them.
They consistently try to write up and sign contracts for which they have little or no experience and act like country rubes as they get ripped off time and time again - or rather, we, the residents, get ripped off and they have the nerve to feel offended and whine to the heavens above as to how dare we question them. By not questioning them we arrived at a loss of over FIVE MILLION DOLLARS and now we are looking at FIFTEEN MILLION!!! When I asked Howie how we are going to amass that amount, at a million per year, he babbled and mumbled about $700,000 and $300,000, never mind the millions over the coming years. I am not an accountant but still have most of my gray cells and I am still looking for an answer. To my knowledge it looks as if it will be at least $10 a month and never mind all the other increases on top of that.
We never get straight answers. We are told the security contract is less. Well, we are certainly getting less bang for our buck, that I will agree. Anyone try the Rover number? Aha! Not there. Then we are told that it is less than last year. Really? When they then tell us that the increase of $132,000 dollars in the utilities is because we moved it from the security account, that is quite some fancy footwork. So it seems that there really was no decrease in security, was there. Moving funds around, which they seem to excel at is not the truth. It is obfuscation and plain lies and very poor and dishonest financial accounting and a lack of respect for us here in the Village.
I quote. "...doing so (signing a contract) on behalf of your membership without having those contracts properly reviewed by your...attorney is just bad business." We almost NEVER have our contracts reviewed by an attorney, including the roadways and others and I wonder if they were planning this for the Wi Fi which thank G-d is defunct. These UCO people NEVER had the experience of managing, of writing up and reviewing contracts in their past lives and it shows. They know nought about process and procedure, nought about business principles to manage an almost 8 million dollar budget and you should excuse me, but having a question answered by Rod Tennyson is no better than looking in the mirror and asking yourself what you think the correct answer is. Whatever the Poohbah wants, Rod gives!!!
Bantam roosters. Wannabee fighting cocks. Certainly not proper UCO officials. Get them the hell out of office and our pockets.
PS. Now the Poohbah has posted s supposed email sent to him by a sympathizer who suggests that a strong parliamentarian or a sergeant at arms should be used. Really? There was a parliamentarian - Randall- and guess what David did to him - yelled. Oh well, so much for that and as for a sergeant at arms - who is going to be so bold as to tell a resident here that he can lay hands on another resident who is being called out due to his/her opposition to the nefarious plans of the present UCO? I would really like to see that! Go ahead, David. Try it. I will bake you a cake with a file in it as you are and your sergeant are locked up for assault. Why must you and yours always resort to threats of a physical nature. All you have to do is be reasonable and talk and compromise, use attorneys, use process and do not think that you and yours can get away with everything and anything. Them days are loooong gone!

OUT OF THE CLOSET FROM BEHIND THE THRONE
So Ed Black finally has come out in the open, very upset that we turned down that ridiculously unexplained and unexplainable budget that was "worked" so hard and "so well" for the Village. He is incensed, just beside himself, that delegates dared to speak up, to go counter to their assigned role as puppets to the Poohbah, destined to give only and always their approval to all that comes out of UCO.
Well, guess what? Times have changed. People have woken up. People are demanding answers, explanations, financial sanity and accountability. They are demanding to know more about contracts and provisions and that is not only their right, but their responsibility as delegates for their associations. To do otherwise would be a dereliction of duty.
This is what Ed Black says: "...look what we've accomplished. we now have delegates who believe we should eliminate committee meetings, ignore the Officers meetings and Executive Board meetings and just permit anyone to come before us and tell you how to vote with less than a complete understanding of the facts. "
No one has said that. No one has advocated that. The man is delusional, along with his paranoid buddy, David Israel. We want committee meetings to be held - in larger rooms, more frequently, when the issues demand it. And yes, we want to exercise our freedom, our rights to express our opinions on matters that affect us, such as contracts and other decisions. And yes, the last time I checked, Ed Black was not a certified genius and had no more and no less understanding than the average Villager so get off your high horse, Ed. You ain't a god. You ain't a political genius and I daresay that there are MANY people in the Village who can outthink you without breaking a sweat. So yes, residents are entitled to know, to hear and to debate and decide and even deny.
Much of the rest of his posting on the PRIVATE blog of the Poohbah's is incoherent and would have received an F in a class of mine. His sentences make no sense and refer to things that simply were not said but are his illiterately expressed interpretations of events. And yes, Ed, it would not be such a bad idea if we were to have greater oversight over the spending of UCO as this seems to have gone beyond the acceptable. Perhaps if that had been done, as it should have been done, such as before the whole road debacle, we would not be in this mess, this financial quagmire that we are mired in but good! And as for volunteers - here I am. Here we are. But the Poohbah has stated that he will NEVER ALLOW ME ON a COMMITTEE and this is his stated and followed practice. All we have now are recycled people that belong to the Sore Losers Club, who cannot accept defeat and move on, who know only one way of doing things - the wrong way.
So cut the crap, Mr. Black. Put your money where your mouth is and open up UCO to the public! We will not accept more garbage thrust upon us. This last security contract is the last time this will happen. Look how well that has turned out. And for G-d's sake, tell that idiot Gracie and your pal, Petey to shut the hell up already about armed deputies enforcing order. People clapping and cheering is just fine. People in opposition are just fine - and yes, you are allowed to oppose whatever you want. That is called democracy. Remember that? We do not indulge in the use of force to shut our opponents down. So your armed deputies is a ridiculous proposal and would only serve the purpose of trying to intimidate senior citizens into shutting up. Nice try, that. Shame on you and your buddies. Are you that afraid of us? Do you think we will hurt you? Really. What, we will chase you with our limps, bad backs, walkers, canes and don't forget scooters. Gimme a break. Grow up. Man up, you and your buddies and do the right things if you possibly can even see and understand what that is.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN AND HIS MINIONS?
There is something seriously wrong with this man and his lackeys. His posting on his blog about lawyer simulator and mobs and plots and malcontents - this man is sick! He is a paranoid man with a behavioral disorder. To watch his behavior at the assembly was to see a man devolve into a nattering, shouting example of a man past his prime, due to retire where he can rest his mind and soul. Shouting to people that they cannot ruin HIS meeting? Shouting that people are out of order? Welcoming Randall back again and then shouting at him when he brought up proper Robert's Rules, which David flouts all day long? Accusing people of plots and conspiracies?
The man lost. All HIS secret meetings, violating the Sunshine Law were for naught. What we had here is a group of residents who have had it with him and the garbage he tries to pull. This is not a dictatorship whether he likes it or not.
Now look at what else they are planning. We have that nasty dude, Peter Cruz, posting this -
"The Delegate Assembly is becoming (has become) a useless exercise in shouting, screaming and demented behavior.
When UCO Bylaws are rewritten, why not just eliminate this monthly mob scene--"
There it is, folks, the future planning they have done. We have stated this before. Broomhilda,that so sweet personality of Gorodetzer, plans to pull the wool over every one's eyes and sneak in a new set of by laws that will kill all rights of the residents here and what is more, they plan to do this in April or May when there are fewer people, less opposition and the Zombie delegates who vote for David no matter what, will be in the majority.
I suggest that we have a motion to postpone the new by law vote until next year, using the same reasoning - we want the snow birds to have a say. Now that he sees that it is not always his way, the Poohbah will fight this, but this is our only way to insure our rights, to have a fair administration unsullied by the likes of Israel, Black, Gorodetzer, Cruz, etc. It is interesting that Bettie has begun to see the light after some miserable treatment by Vestal but that oh so not amazing Gracie can only continue to send nasty emails thinking that I care. Gracie, Gracie, Gracie - take a look in the mirror and see if you truly are a nice person. I think not.
As for the budget, Howie appeared to be very uncomfortable explaining things in public. He cannot meet all in his office. Perhaps he needs a public speaker to sub for him, but whatever, the budget was dense in its composition, received no sane or solid or meaningful explanations and we will not vote for a budget that changed every single month over the past few months. There is something seriously, very seriously wrong here and perhaps it is time that we remove this whole administration for incompetence and dereliction of duty with a few exceptions to remain. Think about it.

A WORD FROM PHYLLIS
The best thing that can happen now that this budget has been thrown out is to have a good old fashioned power point meeting in the clubhouse where more than 20 folks can attend. A q&a can be very helpful for those of us that need clear answers so we can make good decisions for our village.
Copies of the budget should be available to all that attend and a line by line discussion will eliminate any doubts that everything is on the level.
With all due respect I ask the current treasurer to give this deep consideration and hold this meeting way before the next vote to eliminate a repeat of Friday.

OMG!!!! (LOOK THAT UP, GRACIE!)

We did it again. No plots, no plans, no conspiracy, just a whole lotta people getting fed up with the garbage that has been coming our way out of UCO and finally saying ENOUGH! Paranoid David Israel, AKA Poohbah, looks for plots, makes accusations, but they are as silly as they sound. Because one has opponents, does not mean that there are conspiracies. Get with the program my dear Poohbah.
So we turned away the budget which was one of the most confusing ones I have ever seen. Much of what went on in the assembly was a takeoff of the Keystone Kops as Howie could not answer the questions asked and there was a whole lot of mumbling going on. A budget MUST have sound reasons behind it and if there is a shock contained within, then speak up, be upfront about it. Man up and confess that a multi million dollar error had been made with the roads and we will have to pay the price for it down the line. Do not blame a suit for the carelessness of those in charge as the excuse for a $14,000 raise in insurance fees. I would like to question the insurance guy myself about that!. And don't mumble some half swallowed explanation about how utilities can go up $132,000 by saying as part of it that it was moved from security. Really? Did our security guards go around turning on lights? And if so, then security did not go down as you boast about this horrendous contract; it just went elsewhere! Don't lie and misrepresent and think we are all a bunch of dummies and won't catch you on it. Don't try to blame people before this UCO administration and think it won't come back double on your head.
So what needs to be done is the following. I feel like a broken record sometimes. PROCESS AND PROCEDURE. PROCESS AND PROCEDURE.
TRANSPARENCY! HONESTY!
A PROCESS AND SET PROCEDURE MUST BE IN PLACE. ONE DOES NOT PLACE THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE NOR DOES A BUDGET GET MADE BASED ON WHIMS AND IFS AND WHATS AND WANTS WITHOUT PROPER THOUGHT AND BASIS.
Poohbah boasts about his IFIs. All fine and wonderful and we thank him for that; however, what he does not say is that there are meetings that take place out of sight out of mind for the Village. There are many days when one can see, tucked behind the UCO building, cars, after hours of UCO and they are not the cars of the security people. They park in front. so what is going on at these meetings? Who knows? Not us, that's for sure. Do not say that there are meetings in the building for all to attend. How many start at 1:00 and the door is locked? How many people can be squooshed into the room? And for that matter, the same goes for Gorodetzer's meetings for by laws and Articles.
Again, get with the program. We have had it with the secrecy. We have had it with the attitudes. We have had it period and do not think that waiting for the summer will get you all you desire for it can be all overturned and come next March (one more year ) - it is Bye, Bye Birdie to you.

THE NEW YEAR
Time today to relax, enjoy the day - hope it stops raining soon - and think of the year ahead of us and on into the future. Believe it or not, most of us do have an interest in the future as whether we are here or not, many of our kids will be here. There are many family groupings here as each generation sees the joy of living in the Village.
But in order to insure that the situation continues, we must be strong, be proactive, be determined to watch carefully and to take steps to insure that. We must step up to the plate, demand answers to our questions and bring in fresh air and new ideas, proper business and management principles. This is not a Podunk hamlet. This is a town of close to 15,000, give or take, and as such, demands business methodology to insure a sound financial basis now and into the future.
So think about that today and come tomorrow and make your voices heard as we did last assembly. David Israel and Co. were stunned at the power rising up to oppose them. We are having a roll call vote - no one can harm you for your vote, and WE WILL DEFEAT THIS BUDGET AND GET RID OF WI FI - AGAIN - FROM THE REMAINING BUDGET. OH, AND BY THE WAY, IF WE ARE LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE FOR THE VILLAGE, WHY NOT GO CHECK OUT GOOGLE FIBER (not available yet here in this area) - THE FASTEST CONNECTION YET TO THE INTERNET BUT REMEMBER, WE DO HAVE FIVE YEARS LEFT ON THE Comcast CONTRACT AND THANKS TO THE WONDERFUL NEGOTIATING SKILLS OF DAVID Israel, WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY BACH MUCHO DINEROS WERE WE TO WALK OUT EARLY. SO, WE ARE STUCK, BUT CAN PREPARE, SOMETHING ALIEN TO THE CURRENT UCO ADMINISTRATION.

SO WHAT'S UP?
Let's take stock of the situation as we see and know it and what still needs to be done. I know it gets discouraging sometimes when we think how hard we have to fight in order to get things done and how we always have to be on guard to watch against returns to old topics, but as the saying goes, "If you do not stand up to evil, evil will stand up to you." Not that what is going on is necessarily "evil" per se, but it is harmful, careless and wrong, just plain wrong. It involves conceit and egotism and a determination on the part of some to continue to hold the reins of power as they see it, for as long as they have breath in their bodies. It involves the brazen waste of our funds. It involves the worst contract process I have ever seen and the result is horrific, again and again.
The Poohbah thinks that he has it all covered this assembly come Friday. If the budget is not voted down, then hurrah for him, he thinks and if it is, well then the 2014 budget stands with its Wi Fi fees and hoorah for him, he thinks. So - VOTE DOWN THIS BUDGET, LOUDLY AND CLEARLY. THERE WILL BE A ROLL CALL VOTE SO STAND PROUD AND VOTE FOR THE VILLAGE, NOT FOR HIM. Remember, he can do NOTHING to you.
As for the Wi Fi fee, instruct Andy Rosen that your association WILL NOT PAY THIS FEE. REMEMBER, WE VOTED DOWN WI FI AND IT SHOULD NOT EVEN BE AN ISSUE.
What would be great would be for a delegate to stand up and make a motion to amend the budget to reflect the last assembly's vote on Wi Fi - no funds, no project, no nothing, so no fees.
What else? Remember how many times the Poohbah has stated that Rod Tennyson has to go and we need to work with other attorneys? Uh huh! Well, guess who is still hanging around? Yup, you got it in one. Is it not time that we let this man go and get a live, thinking, independent minded attorney who knows that the law is the law and not what David Israel wants it to be.
And what about our wonderful new security company. Oh, I know we heard how hard Ed Black worked on this, the sweat equity he put into this. Really? Well, we still have no Rover number - quite an issue. We still have long lines and shortages of staff. We still have many other things going wrong here so just how did we benefit from this? And the answer is - WE DID NOT!!!!!!
So much for the methodology involved here, letting the delegates see the contract for 15 minutes while other things were going on and then having them vote as it was rammed through by that unholy pair.
People, we need to stand up to this. We need to run for office. We need to vote in new people, not more puppets of the Poohbah. We need to stop recycling the same people on committees and media outlets. We need to show the Poohbah the writing on the wall.
Come to the assembly and support the right team. Come to the assembly and vote or tell your delegate how to vote. It is your right to do so.
The Poohbah thinks that he has it all covered this assembly come Friday. If the budget is not voted down, then hurrah for him, he thinks and if it is, well then the 2014 budget stands with its Wi Fi fees and hoorah for him, he thinks. So - VOTE DOWN THIS BUDGET, LOUDLY AND CLEARLY. THERE WILL BE A ROLL CALL VOTE SO STAND PROUD AND VOTE FOR THE VILLAGE, NOT FOR HIM. Remember, he can do NOTHING to you.
As for the Wi Fi fee, instruct Andy Rosen that your association WILL NOT PAY THIS FEE. REMEMBER, WE VOTED DOWN WI FI AND IT SHOULD NOT EVEN BE AN ISSUE.

METHINKS THE MAN DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH
Poohbah, you've got to give it a rest. Your whole premise that these three people cannot or are not qualified to do a forensic audit is riddled with holes. George and Ed are CPAs; Dorothy is a qualified audit assistant as she certainly pulled the Village's nuts out of the fire many times when she was Treasurer of UCO. She certainly stopped you and Ed Black dead in your tracks when you wanted to pull more hanky panky and poor financial thinking with the money and forced us to get back on track. Why are you so afraid?

If you say you have had an audit so what, they were looking for crime too? Don't be a fool, even if that comes easy to you and go with the flow. Much of the population of the Village is upset with you and the money shenanigans, the ruses you use to get your way, the way you stomp on and threaten people, and they want answers. They want to know why the fees are going up so much. They want to know how the numbers can bounce around so much. This is not a follow the bouncing ball topic - the budget - yet you persist in treating it as such and have co-opted O'Brien right into it with you. Why are you so afraid?

A RESPONSE TO ANDRE LEGAULT
I have no access to the “private” blog.
You have suggested that I contact Mr. O’Brien for answers to all my questions. That is not at all the purpose of my postings. The purpose of the postings is to call to the attention of all the delegates, all the residents, all the owners that fact that something just doesn’t seem right.
I have my suspicions as to how all of this has come about. I think I have a very good idea as to who might be behind this thinking. Putting all the “eggs into one basket” is a very very good way of concealing expenditures. Let us not forget that I served as UCO Treasurer for five years in total - under two different administrations. When I was out of office the road re-paving fiasco and the shuffling of money took place.
Additionally, when sums of money are quoted differently at the drop of a hat; and in the same publication at that, what is one to do? Not ask questions? I don’t think so.
So, Mr. Legault, I believed and still do believe that it is important to let as many people as possible know of these discrepancies. My asking questions and getting answers privately certainly would not accomplish that.
If all is on the up-and-up, why has there not been a public response to any of the questions I have raised? Not even a public acknowledgment except by persons like yourself.

I have said it before, often, and will repeat it again. I love living here. It is my home, and as such, it is my responsibility to see that it is the best that can be, just as it is the responsibility of ALL who live here.
What we have instead is a group of people who engage in secret planning in violation of the Sunshine laws, who limit the "volunteers" on the committees to the chosen and select few, those who kowtow to Poohbah and those who are bought off with little sinecures of their own. All else are verboten! All positions new or old are filled by the same old, same old and one does not even have to be elected - just kiss the Poohbah's rear and there ya' go.
Free speech is attacked at every delegate assembly by a man who knows nothing about how to conduct a proper meeting and could care less about it and what is more, he sends his minions out to speak in his name, using foul language and awful accusations, including words of threat and bias. They advocate armed guards and FORCE to get their way, to silence opposition.
We are besieged by projects that have no sense behind them, that are conjured out of the air with terrible consequences and worse, more are coming along right behind the. Roads? Forget them! Wi Fi - voted overwhelmingly down as a Village wide project but there he goes again. And what does he want - a doorway fee. Why? So he can go and spend it, waste it, actually, on more inane and financially unfeasible projects.
Where are the management principles that should be applied?
Where is the process and procedure that should be a standard part of any contract or proposal?
Where is UCO when they are supposed to listen to the residents and their needs?
Where is UCO and the officers when it comes to putting brakes on Eva and WPRF as she ramps up our new fees for ridiculous and often shoddy, needing replacement too early projects. and how many more times are we going to plant and replant at the clubhouse? I believe there are far more important places to spend our money.
More on the security issue. The incident at Somerset the other night took place between 11:05 and 11:20 and when UCO was called the next day to ask why no Rover was available to come, Ed Black told the caller she should have called 911. Really? Why are we paying millions of dollars for security that does not exist? Why are we paying for Rovers that are not in existence? A big deal was made about these Rovers and now we are told that the company is short staffed and cannot staff them!!!! Really! Then go hire someone. But this is just another example of the crappy contracts we get in this place because the people involved are clueless as to how to do this whole procedure properly. "Whoops, there goes another million....."
Where is the end of arbitrary rules made by WPRF, the better to block Poohbah's opposition?
Where is the realization that we need an austerity budget until we pull out of our mess and get it straightened out.
Where is our audit, offered for free and ACCEPTED BY POOHBAH and then denied?
Where is the truth about our budget. It is dizzying as the numbers keep changing and large sums of money are thrown about with random care.
Where, oh where, is the light at the end of the tunnel? That light will appear when we VOTE DOWN THE BUDGET AND ELECT THE PROPER PEOPLE EVERY CHANCE WE GET. COME TO THE MEETINGS AND VOTE THE PROPER WAY IF YOU ARE A DELEGATE.
It is in our hands - if we act in a timely manner.

HOW MANY $$$$ ARE SET ASIDE IN “RESERVE” FUNDS?
Once again, I direct your attention to the latest edition of the UCO Reporter.
Let us begin on Page A2 – Minutes of the Delegate Meeting – December 5, 2014
“Treasurer’s Report . . . . balance sheet showing assets . . . includes funded reserves of $1,448,000. . . “
Now we move on to Page A7 – Treasurers Column – 3rd paragraph right hand side
“. . . and a $700,000 Infrastructure Reserve . . .”
One figure is half of the whole. Or perhaps the whole is twice as much as the actual. So, which is it? How are the residents to know? Where is this money? In sweeps accounts, in CD’s, where? Is this real money or anticipated funds? The figure somehow or another relates to the 2015 budget so perhaps it is not yet money in the bank (so to speak).
We can look also at Page A3 – State of the Village by David Israel – 3rd paragraph left hand side
“. . . our Reserves are steadily accruing . . .”
Again, OK, accruing where? From where? And once again, where is this money? Or perhaps I should say “show me the money”.
“Assuming” that the 2014 reserves are fully funded and adding to that figure all money collected for Wi-Fi as well as the balance that had accrued to December 31, 2013, the total (according to my calculations) should be $1,109,350 plus a very small additional amount for interest earned.
So there you have it. Three different numbers for the same line item. So, Mr. O’Brien, perhaps you would be good enough to provide a detailed listing advising all details of the reserves as mentioned above.
I think we all know by now just what Mr. Lincoln would say, so I don’t think it is necessary to repeat it.

DEARIE DEARIE ME. WHATEVER COULD IT BE?
Just what could be going on inside the UCO building today. There are lots of cars tucked away in the back. What violation of the Sunshine Law are we having today? And this is not the first nor second nor last time this has been done. Makes one think..... What could they be hiding and planning. Maybe they are having a hide and seek game looking for another $600,000. Or maybe they found more weird by laws to insert. Who the hell knows. Whatever it is, it bodes no good for us, the residents. That's for sure.
REJECT THE NEW BUDGET?
Rumor has it that there may be a plan afloat to reject the budget that has been printed in this months’ Reporter. The purpose of this posting is to present to all a scenario of what might happen were this to occur.
The present budget would remain in effect. This is the budget prepared for 2014 for a period of 12 months.
We must, of necessity, bear in mind that there are certain major contractual obligations that will become effective at the first of January 2015. They are increases to both the Cable and Transportation contracts at 5% and 3% respectively. Where would this money come from?
Additionally, this budget includes the $2 per month that has been added to the monthly fees paid to UCO. This is the money that was set aside to fund the Wi-Fi project. The very same project that was defeated at the last Delegate Assembly; the very same money that, according to the minutes of the meeting, was approved to be added to the general reserve fund. The very same project that was put on the “back burner”.
We could use this money to fund a potential shortfall in payments to Comcast.
Extra dollars would become available due to the dramatic decrease in the price of fuel. I have no knowledge of the per gallon price Mr. O’Brien used in the prepara-tion of this new 15-month budget.
Additional extra dollars might be obtained by re-thinking the lease/purchase of all or some of the new security cameras. Do we really want Big Brother watching our every move?
And then, there is what has often been called an austerity budget. That means, no frills – buy and pay for only what is absolutely necessary.
So folks, this is what is called a rock and a hard place and Mr. Lincoln had nothing to do with that. It is important that you consider all the options, the benefit or detriment or necessity for each and every service and purchase.

ROGUES? MALCONTENTS? SECURITY? WHAT'S UP?
Interesting turn of events we have here in the Village. The Poohbah is no longer content with calling us malcontents as we have taken his proposed "insult" and turned it into a badge of honor and name of pride, flaunting our following in the path of other brave Americans. Now we have to do the same thing with his new term - rogue associations. You see, the crowd of opposition is growing so the Sore Losers Club who cannot deal well with any rejection (probably goes back to their childhood!) needs to find a way to explain their defeat. Aha! These are rogue associations, runaways from toeing the line. Well, sorry old fella, they are rogues in the same manner as the partisans who fought in the forests of Europe rather than give in to the Nazis. They are rogues in the same manner as those brave kids in Hong Kong who stood up to the Chinese government. They are rogues in the same manner as those Berliners on both sides of the Wall who gathered there one electric day and brought it down. They are rogues in the same sense of the Founding Fathers who stood up to the British. They are rogues in the same sense of the kids who brought about the end of the Vietnam War. Yes, rogue associations - to be proud of - so go find some other term.
Oh, and by the way, what about the "turncoat to the people" who refuses to use proper procedure, follow by laws and go through the bid committee. You gave the chairmanship as a reward, to garner support from a woman whom you called truly vile terms and now she is irrelevant?! Really?? Truly??It is you, Poohbah, and Ed Black and Gorodetzer, etc. who are turncoats, not rogues, not altruistic lovable scamps but people with nefarious plans in mind, with one track minds - you WILL get your roads......you WILL get your Wi Fi in one form or the other.....You Will get your security contract..... and look at what it has cost us and will cost us. Look at how YOU have split the Village and have not seen that your time is past. Time to go.

So, once again, we have lots of newbies, people who do not know us nor what their job entails so what do we have - lines out to Okeechobee, a shortage of guards at the full show last nite at the Clubhouse, with no one to help people safely cross from one side to the other. We have cheap polyester uniforms that are choking and melting our guards, and we have unreachable Rover units. The other night a resident in the Somerset area was trying to get hold of the Rovers, ANYONE, to help her at 11 PM as a crowd of drunken residents? Guests? kept making noise and causing a ruckus but there was no answer, no one home. Gee, great contract we have - oh, but at least we will get spy cameras watching our every move and those cameras on the Rovers - what the hell will they see if the Rovers are not available?
Yes, there is much to talk about - and do not forget the crazy ever changing budget with the magically appearing and disappearing funds, and funds that move together so they can all "slush": around together as well. Yes, budget time.

CIRCUMVENTING” THE BID COMMITTEE
Rumor has it that that one of the reasons for the large increase in the category labeled “General and Administrative” (please read my post titled “General and Administrative Expense - $856,935) in some way coincides with a desire to perhaps “circumvent” the Bid Committee.
Now, why someone would want to do that is quite a curiosity. When consideration is being given to engage the services of a contractor, and the anticipated cost is more than $5,000, this committee reviews the Request for Proposal (RFP) and then carefully considers the responses from hopefully at least three vendors. I say hopefully because some-times it is difficult to get three vendors to respond.
Why anyone would want to “circumvent” this process which has been part of standard operating procedure (SOP) for perhaps the past five years is very peculiar. Need I say “road paving” as an example of what I am alluding to?
This committee is a very important committee. The present chair of the committee is Barbara Cornish and prior to that was Dom Guarnagia. Some time ago one of the present UCO officers informed one of the committee chairs that the committee was “irrelevant”!! That is not only self-serving but an insult to the work being done; to the time being given by the volunteers on the committee and last but not least to ALL the owners and residents in Century Village.
This nearly $1 million dollar line item in the new budget needs to be itemized and scrutinized; the unit owners deserve no less, after all, they are the ones paying the bills. We certainly don’t want another road paving fiasco do we?
And, last but not least, remember what Mr. Lincoln said “. . . but, you can’t fool ALL of the people ALL of the time.”

FOR THERE IS NOTHING HID THAT SHALL NOT BE MADE MANIFEST
Something I was taught as a kid, and which I, in turn, taught to my biological and educational kids, was that a lie is a waste of time, only accruing more damage the longer it was put out and about. The truth would always come to the surface and then there was TROUBLE. The title above comes from The Gospel, according to Mark, 4/21. It continues, "neither was it made secret, but that it may come abroad."
A sheker, or lie, in Judaism is also deemed wrong so no matter what religion one practices, it is a lesson we all should have learned and is never too late to do so.
Now go and read all of Dorothy's postings re the budget, read them carefully and then think back to the questions asked by Ed and others at the delegate assemblies and then wonder how in the name of all that is holy, to think, to believe, to trust that all their lies will remain undercover and no one will ever care enough or be bright enough to wring that truth out. And it is out in a major way. All the lies, all the dodges, all the mistruths and half truths, all the evasions - and now we need answers. But the answers can never come because there would have to be an admission of guilt, of cupidity, of criminally stupid fiscal management and planning, if any at all.
We, the residents of CV are entitled to the truth and to the best UCO we can have. We need people who come out and mix with the residents, not sit inside 24/7 doing who knows what - contemplating one's navel, perhaps? In the Steve Jobs' biography, it is written "In the annals of innovation, new ideas are only part of the equation. Execution is just as important."
People, the only new ideas we have heard are poor substitutes for truly new ideas, just rehashes of the same old, the same excuses, the same time wasting and currency spending that we have had certainly for the past five years. It is the lack of proper pro activism that is needed to face the new things coming at us down the pike - post Millennium, proper new by laws, proper new Articles, new servants of the people in UCO, less self aggrandizement and more humbleness and thought. And above all - the execution - is we need those who know about process and procedure. Like Diogenes, we can go seeking with our lantern but scarcely one is to be found.
Let us turn down the bad ideas and let us vote in new people, good and fresh people with a clean breeze and honestly above all. We are sorely lacking in that right now.

And it is out in a major way. All the lies, all the dodges, all the mistruths and half truths, all the evasions - and now we need answers. But the answers can never come because there would have to be an admission of guilt, of cupidity, of criminally stupid fiscal management and planning, if any at all.
We, the residents of CV are entitled to the truth and to the best UCO we can have. We need people who come out and mix with the residents, not sit inside 24/7 doing who knows what - contemplating one's navel, perhaps? In the Steve Jobs' biography, it is written "In the annals of innovation, new ideas are only part of the equation. Execution is just as important."
People, the only new ideas we have heard are poor substitutes for truly new ideas, just rehashes of the same old, the same excuses, the same time wasting and currency spending that we have had certainly for the past five years. It is the lack of proper pro activism that is needed to face the new things coming at us down the pike - post Millennium, proper new by laws, proper new Articles, new servants of the people in UCO, less self aggrandizement and more humbleness and thought. And above all - the execution - is we need those who know about process and procedure. Like Diogenes, we can go seeking with our lantern but scarcely one is to be found.
Let us turn down the bad ideas and let us vote in new people, good and fresh people with a clean breeze and honestly above all. We are sorely lacking in that right now.

MR. O’BRIEN’S BALANCE SHEET
On December 9, 2014 Mr. O’Brien prepared and subsequently distributed financial reports reflecting the various balances on hand “as at December
31, 2014.”
The Balance Sheet is indicating “Current Year Revenue in Excess of Expense – Not Audited” as $400,437. In and of itself this is not really that significant (in my opinion) when you compare it to the total budget for the year which is just shy of $6.7 million.
However, Mr. O’ Brien have you included the expenses – large and small – that may or not be known in actuality until January? Security, Transporta-tion, electricity, telephone and fuel for the buses and cars will not be invoiced until then.
Your December 31st report “UCO Revenue and Expenses” indicates $350,000 under budget for 2014 in just two major items; Security and Transportation. Does it not seem likely that most of this $350,000 will accrue to 2014 expense, thereby reducing the plus $400,000 in a significant way?
Mr. O’Brien, please give the residents of Century Village credit for being astute enough to realize that THIS Balance Sheet for the entire year cannot possibly be considered as representing the actual final accounting.
At the very least your report should say ESTIMATED with the assurance to us that a final report will be distributed at the February Delegate Assembly.
Remember what Mr. Lincoln said “. . . YOU CANNOT FOOL ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME.”
