WE ARE HERE BUT....

     We have the House!!!!  We have the House!!!
     Read that over again and think what a great step that is on the path to returning America to America. It is our chance to  stem the growing tide of fascism, of dictatorship, of corruption, to clear the air of the stench of the Trump administration.
     Yes, there are areas where bipartisanship would or should do very well, areas such as drug price reform, infrastructure, ethic and campaign reform, but the question is - will the Republicans cooperate? Will the Trump Party - and make no mistake about it, for it is not the Republican Party but the Trump Party all the way home - will it cooperate or will it allow further descent into the world of madness and anger, of corruption and bribery, of criminals leading the pack, of misogyny, of racism, of extreme right wing poisonous behavior?
    One possible hint - if Sessions is fired. Now I cannot stand that weasel, but should he be let go, we know that Trump is off to the races again, although this time we will have a protective circle around Mueller. Will we be able to go after the corrupt officials who have used taxpayer funds to live oh so delightful a life? Will we be able to return some of the many safety regulations that the  Trump Party has thrown out, much to the detriment of the country? Will we  be able to curb his insane procedures and statements re foreign affairs? Can we actually turn back the clock, move the hands back from midnight, the hour of doom? Can we soften some of the damage we have done to Spaceship Earth?
     How to do this? To stand and be firm and no, not turn the other cheek. Sometimes one needs to be strong and stand firm on issues. Trump's taxes. Trump's emoluments violations? His tax shenanigans.  His corrupt appointees. His incompetent officials. His damn wall and the use of our troops to lay razor wire! so as to stop those nasty immigrants. But not to worry, your immigrant ancestors are safe; he just does not like the new, mainly brown ones, the families, the hopeful, the dreamers. Now he has a plan to make the parents choose - stay incarcerated with your children until the issue is decided or sign away your rights to your kids and allow the government to take them away and place them who knows where? Another freezing big box store? Another cage? A tent city in the desert? Lose track of them? And then what? Then what?
     We need a sane and neutral immigration policy with allowances for emergency situations, for families, for asylum. We need to understand the safety many need. We need to be open to our heritage. We need to be open to our humanity.
    So hurrah for the election and let us hope that in recounts Nelson and Abrams will win. But whatever happened in the results, a point was made. Americans are angry. They have had enough of Trumpmerica. The fuel and the matches are still there. We have a long way to go to resolve our problems and keep us whole and keep us America, the United States of America. Keep up the struggle, the activism, the watchful eye. We are here, but....
