And so, the line, yet another line, is drawn in the sand, or minds, or political spectrum. Truly, the time has come to either step over that line into what should be verboten territory, or remain on the side, if not of the righteous, then of those who at least try. To try to straddle the line or remain poised upon it is no longer an option. Not in such a fragile, potent territory, open to explosions of mouths, of tempers and of violence.
Notice how Trump has behaved in his usual "Who, me?" pose as he blames West for his problems, blames the walls of the building, or whatever hits his fancy, but never himself. Read his oh so lovely words as he vents: “He tried to f*** me. He’s crazy. He can’t beat me,”
Then ask yourself - is this really any different than what he has done through the past decade? The answer is a resounding NO! Echoing through the universe. Unfortunately, no echo, no truth.
People have been stating that he needs to take back his words, to disavow West and Fuentes and all others of his ilk. However, follow that string and realize that suddenly, not too much later, you are standing in the midst of the current GOP. Where the likes of Greene and Hawley, Gaetz, and Scalise, and McCarthy, and wimps like McConnell, no lack of either variety of varmints, are so plentiful. Where they do not condemn Trump's words, do not disavow them, but instead praise them, refusing to distance themselves from the filth of Trump. Why expect otherwise, as they are even worse than he is. He was the one who led them to this promised land of theirs so temptingly nearby, so close at hand, ready for a complete sweep of all opposition. Yes, here in America. Once ours; now, not so sure.
The GOP has, of late, made statements condemning antisemitism and the dinner, but barely ever mention Trump, never assign blame where it lies. Bland, meaning nothing hot air statements are those belonging to the ones who stepped over that line, who are now messing around in the muck of the wrong side, of the side which denies culpability, justice, and righteousness, denial of rights and all that is right and proper.
One of the very few who has actually included Trump in his condemnation is Christie who stated: “We have to stop the whispered concerns and veiled statements, and we have to stand up for the principles and the beliefs that our country and party were founded on,” “There is no place for antisemitism or white supremacists in the Republican Party and no place for anyone who gives people like Nick Fuentes the time of day. Donald Trump’s recent actions and history of poor judgment make him untenable as a candidate for our party.”
Where are the rest of them? Pompei? No mention of Trump. The others? No mention of Trump. At least Pence had the unusual courage to step up and say “I think he should apologize for it, and he should denounce those individuals and their hateful rhetoric without qualification,” It is as if he were never there, as if West crashed the estate, spouted off to a surprised and innocent Trump and caused the ensuing ruckus we now have. Uh-huh!
The time has come to stop the dangerous flirtations this country now has with danger and hatred. We cannot, should not try to remake ourselves into what we were never meant to be and have long striven to distance ourselves from the stink of old, bad habits and thoughts and deeds., "Unfortunately, the former president’s penchant for settling political scores and his compulsion to keep the spotlight upon himself have both become threadbare and trite."
says a leading Christian evangelical pastor and blog master. No condemnation of the words and sentiments. No condemnation for the words out of the mouth of Trump nor the fact that the black holes in the soul of Trump were visible for lo these many a year.
Furthermore, we have the Salvation Army, an organization which should hold Trump up to the light as one not to emulate, plans a gala dinner in Mar a Lago! And keep to that dinner date even after that shameful dinner and outcomes. Where does shame come into the picture. When does truth come into play. At times, it feels like never. Same old, same old. Waffling, political and personal cowardice, truths emerging, ugly in appearance.
As for DeSantis - nothing! Dead quiet. The true fascist he is clearer and clearer.
And the GOP continues to support Walker, the lying pervert that he is, along with his major intellectual difficulties, and an inability to speak with any coherence. Perfect for the Senate, right!
There have been terrible lines crossed for too many years, the line crossers becoming ever bolder, ever more violent, ever more frightening.
