MORE ON BROKEN RECORDS

For the first broken record posting just scroll down to the previous posting and enjoy. This posting will take up the broken record that IS the record for this administration over four and a half years. It is very easy to write of this for nothing was accomplished.
     Let's see.
Broken Record #1 - the road and paving job of course, and no need to elaborate here as the facts are well known.
Broken Record #2 - Security. Where is the fence or anything at the Southampton area? A one at a time purchase of vegetable for soup was the approach here. Visit after visit to the county and each time we were told we were lacking something else. It is called - go in with all questions ready and ask follow up questions to your answers. Simple.
Broken Record #3 - Security again. David Israel and Ed Black have come up with a new ploy, playing on your fears. That is the installation of 19 cameras around the Village to spy on us. The record of criminal activity here is not that big and if people would stop calling in crooked friends and relatives, how much better off we would be. Cameras do not tell us who these people are as they do not announce themselves as such at the gate and then invite us to follow them on CCTV. These cameras are for the benefit of the PBSO and ticketing and for Big Brother who lives in the UCO building. And by the way, it is no big deal to install cameras at the gates. It has been done for decades but don't you think that five cameras is a bit of overkill!
Broken Record #4 - the Wi Fi proposal. This is the second all out push to get Village wide Wi Fi here so that you can walk from your unit to the pool with your head in your laptop. Just be careful as you walk so you do not trip on the really bad walkway raised areas and please watch out for speeding cars as they stop for no one, and watch out for the disappearing rumble strips. Oh, and sitting in the middle of the road and playing Candy Crush is not recommended either. You can have all the safe and sufficient Wi Fi you need via your own private connection or your association and not have another $15 added to your UCO fees. Where the supposed savings are in all this this I have no clue. We do not even have any detailed proposal put in front of the residents - only David Israel and his cronies and their dumb comments.
Broken Record #5 - Ok, not broken maybe. There was a lightning bolt - though it really knocked out only a fuse - but let Bob Marshall enjoy it. Now he can repeat it as well, lightning struck, instead of saying it will strike.
Broken Record #6 - do nothing officers. Anyone ever hear Bob Marshall talk about anything but lightning? Any one ever hear that Pat Sealander or Phyllis Siegelman have anything to add to the discussion? Anyone ever hear a nice word come out from Marilyn Gorodetzer's mouth , especially towards an opposition member?
Broken Record #7 - WPRF and its relationship to the residents of the Village. At present, WPRF, with Eva at the head, collude with David Israel so as to allow him to be the dictator of the Village. While we all pay fees, we are all NOT allowed free access to the facilities, full use of the facilities. That actually calls for a refund of fees to those so denied. Think about it.
Broken Record #8 - the other blog. It parades around as the blog for the Village while it is actually a personal blog belonging to and managed by David Israel. It allows NO ONE to post on there if it is not a David Israel groupie. Hey, Gracie. You are always whining that "you know I won't publish - (but I do) but from now on - forget about it. Tell you what. As soon as your lord and master posts on his blogs, allows free responses, then so will I. Until that day - tough. Go cry elsewhere.
Broken Record #9 - Continues in the same line of thought as David Israel sends out his IFI only to those who he delights in sending to. How many more times must we hear Ed Grossman remind David Israel to send them to him. He is a delegate and entitled to it. The whole thing is stupid as people forward it to the "denied" but it is just an example of the petty ways of our Village Tsar.
Broken Record #10 - committees. When, my fellow villagers, will the committee process and system be open to all and not under the Tsar who sends out his fiats and dictats from his office and blocks 99% of the Village from participating. One must have a stamped "APPROVED BY DAVID" ON THE FOREHEAD TO BE ALLOWED INTO UCO.
Broken Record #11 - financial malfeasance. How many more times must we be told that we now have a financial shortfall, that our finances were raped by David Israel, Bob Marshall (pre lightning bolt), and Ed Black? How many more times will we allow this to happen and then pay to cover up their misdeeds?
Broken Record #12 - the paper,  Channel 63, the handouts. Why is it that David Israel has the sayso over what goes in The Reporter, on Channel 63 for public announcements and in the packet for the delegates? Where in the by laws does it say that? Even the WPRF lawyer hems and haws because Eva's collusion in this is truly WRONG! No political discussion, she says. We are too fragile and too old, too interested in the pools and the pickleball court, I guess, but then what about all the politicians who are allowed in to the Clubhouse and what about all the politicking that David Israel does from his chair up on the dais? Mind you, I have no objection to the visits, but I do to the one sided politics in the Village.
Broken Record #13 - Ahh, what's the use. I can go on and on and the question is - will you, the delegates, do something about it? Will you vote as the walking dead in this March election or will you actually think for yourselves and send the useless, no, the dangerous,  out to pasture? Will you especially remember that in the next presidential election?
Will any one out there volunteer to stand for election or will every one simply stand around and look for the other to do it?
Got another note for you, Gracie girl. Why not return to Canada and your former job if you get so upset that people here oppose your lord and master. You know, moving out can go both ways. Now think how dumb you sound every time you and yours, like Don HoHo, Mike and the others say that phrase - just move out. There is room for all here, especially if it were done properly.
Vote in new people, thinking people and let new ideas, new proposals, honest people who care about the Village, do what must be done and then, Gracie girl, you might have your utopia.

WHY DO WE NEED WI FI WHEN ALL WE HAVE ARE BROKEN RECORDS?

It gets difficult sometimes when one is trying to write an intelligent article and simply keeps hearing from broken records who evidently live here in the Village. One such person is my old friend Gracie. She thinks I should leave this utopia and move elsewhere if I do not like everything about the Village. Well, sorry, little not so amazing Grace, I happen to love living here and say so to all to whom I speak. What I do not like is the UCO administrators that we presently have and have had for too many years. They, too, are just a bunch of old broken down records playing on an outmoded record player, often at the wrong speed.
And no, this is not a utopia and if you need the definition of one, try looking up Garden of Eden, Greek mythology, Heaven, etc. This is a Village meant for humans, humans who can and do make mistakes and that is fine. What is not fine is when the mistakes are done again and again and purposely so. That is what gets me upset but has nothing to do with moving and why your group is so anxious for everyone who disagrees with them to move is quite interesting. Says a whole lot about them - and you - does it not?! And by the way, you and yours could move outta' here and what a break that would be for the Village.
And I am so sorry that you do not approve of some of the words I use. I guess words of more than one syllable are difficult for you but a good dictionary, real or virtual, would help and the offer of free tutorials is still there. And for that matter, so is the cup of coffee! But I guess that you like the language of David Israel, your lord and master, much better. For sure it is better. When one calls people a piece of shit, or tells a woman that she is a toxic tart and the whore of Babylon - and does this in the middle of people standing or sitting around - why of course, how silly of me to not accept that as better language and manners. So silly. I also do not publish racially bigoted postings on my blog as does the other blog, but I guess that is ok too with you and your little group. I am so sick of your whining - you and Petey Boy and Don HoHo, Lanny, Joy, Marilyn G,  and everyone else who feels they must step in and defend the coward who will never debate, who must crush and deny civil rights that all Americans have except here in Century Village WPB, and who colludes with others to keep this so. I get so sick of the nastiness of your group, of their misdeeds, their lack of civil behavior, their flouting of rules, their purposeful attacks on the financial and physical integrity  of the Village, their utter lack of concern, planning and forethought for the beneficial future of the Village.
And by the way, I could care less about the previous election as it was rigged and crooked anyway, so not a problem and as for being president here instead of David Israel, wow!!! what a better change that would have been for the Village, but for my personal life - hey, I love my life and so sorry that you and yours appear to have none, except, that is, for what David Israel allows you to have. Enough already with your constant repetitive lament that I cannot get over the election. By that afternoon I was making my plans for the next day and the future and there appeared to be no hole in my life - not before, not then, and not in the future. What can you say? Oh, better go and run to ask your lord and master for permission and the proper words. Get a life, Gracie!
So stay tuned for tomorrow's posting about more broken record items in the Village and why we need to move on. Shheeesh, at least to Walkmans already! One day we might even be ready for an advanced Wi Fi system. One never knows what the future will bring.

PS. Guess I should add in another broken record from your crew and that is the one where it is claimed that I have a ghostwriter. Just because David Israel cannot string together a literate piece does not mean that others cannot. Lanny is one of David's most prolific ghostwriters and proofreader - not always so great there, Lanny - but tell you what.
I challenge David Israel to a writing contest. Let's choose an agreed upon topic having to do with the Village and spontaneously write an article. No cheat sheets or cues allowed. No help from others in the audience and let's see then who needs a ghostwriter. Please do not insult me again this way. My writings are my own, typed by my fingers and from my mind. You guys provide rich material so thank you for the opportunities you provide for me to write.

THE ISSUES AND THE PROPOSALS

David Israel and crew are constantly throwing mud over the basic issues here in the Village, thinking that this will allow them to get their wishes and their way. Wrong, very wrong, oh so wrong in so many ways. It also demonstrates great contempt for the residents as he believes he can fool and threaten and intimidate forever.
Here are a few of the issues that are affecting our wonderful home and the easy way to fix them.
Issue #1 - Democracy in the village. To put it bluntly, there isn't any. In collusion with Eva Rachesky, head of WPRF here in the Village, David Israel has his hand on everything. Unless one agrees with his views there are no fliers, no talks, no campaigning, no nothing. This is called a dictatorship.
Solution - Open up the forums and the space. We are ALL paying dues to WPRF and are not getting our money's worth. I wonder what Mark Levy thinks of all this as the reputation begins to tremble and how much money would have to be returned for lack of services.
Eva works for US, not David, and the sooner she learns that, the better off she will be.

Issue #2 - the Wi Fi proposal. There is no doubt that the invisible world of the Internet is expanding, but it is moving so fast - and so dangerously - in some facets, that one must be careful of jumping headlong into something. Truth be told, WE HAVE Wi Fi IN THE VILLAGE. Yes, we do. You have it in your homes privately via a provider and in your buildings if you have wired up via Comcast, and even have it by WPRF pools and some private pools such as a Wellington pool, wired via Ed Grossman and Building Wellington A.  NO ONE is deprived of Wi Fi here and the term No Fi is so stupid it is beyond belief and obscuring the issue. The issue is that we are in debt. We are in major shortfall. The time will come soon enough when paying our bills will not be a reality unless we make up the shortfall.
One does not go on vacation to Hawaii if one cannot pay the mortgage. We have already paid for projects for which we did not have the money and then blew it all on a crappy road job with improper paving and walkways and very faulty drainage resulting. We need to save money for the new job which will be necessary way before time. We need to fund our anemic reserve fund and the one area which is painless is to transfer the accumulated Wi Fi exploratory funds over to the reserves and any additional monies collected over the year from the $2 fee.
Wi Fi can wait Village wide until we are secure and ready, until there are more ABLE AND COMPETENT companies able to do this, until we are sure of the value and quality, of the possibility in reality of getting all the permits, of the possibility of installing a system with more privacy, better speed, wider bandwidth, of the time required and the actual specific cost, with less visible infrastructure - all details to be spelled out for the residents, the whole truth, transparency. When the proper time comes, then we can talk. Right now there is no need and many people are not even interested at all in paying for Wi Fi they will never use.
Please note that if we do not transfer funds and go ahead with this idiocy, our payments to UCO will rise SIGNIFICANTLY, as much as $15 per month. That is a huge chunk of change. So vote to transfer funds and to defer the Wi Fi project. OPT OUT. Opting out is a viable alternative in the same way that people opted out of the Brown and Brown insurance contract. Approximately 70 associations have done so.
Issue #3 -  the violation and ignoring of by laws. The Village administration is meant to be an open forum with all residents participating as they wish. This is not the case now. At present, opposition members, meaning those people who watch over the money of the residents, over the transparency of UCO, who believe in looking ahead to post Millennium Agreement, etc., are BARRED from UCO or pushed out. Owners are replaced by renters who should in no way be allowed to have their fingers in the pie. When people violate the rules of government -  they are as criminals. So if the shoe fits -.....
The solution - obey and follow the by laws. Simple as that. Remember, David Israel, and here are your own words. If you do not follow your by laws you are on a slippery slope. My dear David Israel, you have taken the ski jump and are way off the slope.
Issue #4 - elections. Elections here are opaque, tainted and most probably corrupted by those who should not be in charge of them. People who allow improprieties in voting and people who illegally moved funds should not be allowed to supervise, let alone work in the elections.
Solution - simple. Move the date of elections one month back to February and invite an outside party to run elections such as Susan Bucher. She has said she would do it, but cannot do it in March. Changing the month is no big deal. We are changing the budget year so it is fairly simple - a proposal, the proper pathway and a vote. And then a clean election, a clean Village with Tammany Hall and Chicago type politics out of the Village - permanently!
There are other issues such as precise committee roles and the roles and placement of members, of the whole security issue and by the way, that issue of cameras is quite an important one. The cost of providing "snacks" and drink for UCO needs to be looked at and reined in.Assign Bob Marshall another job - like looking for lightning bolts, listening to the weather reports.
And of course, we have the do nothing officers of UCO who never have anything to report. So just what the hell are they doing there every day?
Read and think. Carefully. If we do not act, it will be our fault when the sinkhole opens up and swallows us all in a welter of stupid decisions, faulty planning, apathetic people and power hungry ones. It is up to us.

CRUZIN' DOWN THE ROAD

After reading your stupid and inane comment on David's private blog, ( which never allows a response), I really feel it is necessary to respond to your idiotic comments. By the way, as you are one of David's main sycophants and trolls, I guess I should have expected it from an intellectual moron. First of all, Esther is her own person. She is independent and does not tell other people what to do. But of course how would you know that being fed mistruths and innuendos about her. Just in case you forgot, we live in the United States where one of our basic freedoms is that of speech and the right to express an opinion that may differ from yours. Perhaps a lesson on the Bill of Rights would do you some good.
With regard to your comment about my association, channel your concerns to Sheffield K and let me worry about mine. Our board will do what is best for our association and it is done with understanding and compassion.
Peter, you can always move if you are not happy. If not, live with the notion that in a democratic society opinions can differ.

                                                    POSTED BY
                                                    GERRY S.

OY!!!! GIVE IT UP ALREADY!

For those of you who do not understand the title, it is really untranslatable but is best explained by a deep sigh of resignation at the  situation. The situation here is that , Petey Boy, Peter Cruz, you can't even leave it alone on a day such as today. What in the world is the matter with you? Have a little respect for the memories of the day. go look at the web site address I typed into the previous posting and get a life!
But since you obviously have no manners or understanding of the proper thing to do, I will, against my better judgment, answer your most ridiculous comment you posted on the other blog.
First of all, the whole original posting was asinine and simply following in the path that was set during the campaign - no freedom of speech in the Village. Just as David Israel has an opinion about Wi Fi, so do others. In fact, it is NOT the opinion of UCO that David Israel holds for UCO is made up of ALL owners here in the Village and like it or not, he does not speak for us all. So, once again, a dumb statement on your part, but that does not surprise me in the least.
Second, what is this garbage of me and five trolls or however you phrase it in different comments. I lead no one. I speak for myself and for those who oppose many positions that David Israel and crew hold but I speak and write as an independent. We are all independent and if asked, no one would claim to be the boss and that is the way it should be. I owe no one and no one owes me. That is the way I function. I do not threaten anyone, unlike your lord and master, nor do I make dumb, really dumb, statements about throwing my association out of UCO. You really are a moron! More so than I thought before. What kind of statement was that? I burst out in contemptuous laughter at its stupidity. For your information, Petey Boy, one cannot just throw out an association on a whim or because one does not like a resident or any other such dumb reason as you might create. Idiot! Truly! Go read the by laws and then come for tutoring. And as far as the number five - well, as soon as you learn to count beyond the fingers of one hand we can discuss how many people are dissatisfied with your lord and master. I suggest you go to Neanderthal tutorial school and use their pictographs to learn how to count.
Now as far as Lanny is concerned, Really, Lanny? Burglary? In fact it is quote the opposite. We are trying to SAVE the Village money, prevent it from being spent foolishly by David Israel, squandering our money as he pleases. so you too, Lanny, go back to school and learn the proper use of language.
Now please try to respect the rest of the day and think of those who have dies, sacrificed themselves for our rights and safety and here we sit in a Village where free speech and the right to assembly is denied. Shame on you!

9/11

Thirteen years. It was a beautiful day, the school day had begun well, and last night's meeting with the parent body had gone well. A great start to the year. Stopping off at the business office to say good morning to friends there, the day suddenly shattered and the world has never quite returned to that brilliant optimistic beautiful day.
My questions as to how we would respond to a real emergency were unfortunately answered. The plans we had laid down were quickly adapted to the needs of our school community and children and parents were reunited as parents came to claim their children, a natural tendency to be with family at a time of crisis, at a time when the world had exploded in an unprecedented terror attack of such size and power.
The needs of children and faculty had to be met as well and teachers bore up beautifully under the strain, dealing with their own fears and tears even as they remained calm within the classrooms. They were heroic in their efforts, behavior and actions.
But behind closed doors one could see the terror and fear in the eyes of adults. How could this be? How could we adequately explain this to the kids? How could we explain this to ourselves? I spoke of riding past the WTC at the 1993 bombing when at first it was reported as an electrical explosion. I remember  my kids' frantic phone calls to me to get home quickly, to leave Manhattan right away. Luckily, it was a Friday, a day of early dismissal and when the students had all been picked up and driven or walked off, we were able to leave.
What would have happened now if we had paid more attention to that bombing, realized its significance, the bad omen it was? But most of us were unable to see that. Yes, we knew that there were terrorists in the world, had seen some of their prior twisted attacks, but here? In America? Nah. A fluke. We would arrest and punish the perpetrators, mourn the slain, and that would be the end of that.
How little we knew. How faulty our thinking. And now we live in a world where terror is almost a daily event, a phenomenon that makes us tired, that has blunted our feelings and made the awful merely mundane. How many people are absorbed by the story of the 40 Fijians still held by a terrorist group in the Middle East? How many have seen the videos of them, oh, so happy in their captivity? How many realize that Israel saved the remaining soldiers of the UN force and what that means to the use of UN troops in the future? For that matter, how many people even realize that it is September 11 once again and how many people will actually go to one of the several ceremonies of the day in local areas and how many will simply go to Publix, sit by the pool and chat without the thought of the day even hitting them until sometime later today when they go, "Oh my G-d! It's September 11, 9/11!" Think a bit. And then move on.
I guess it is a natural survivor's instinct, to let things go, to let the sharp edges dim, but for me, I will never forget the empty space in the sky, the smell of smoke in the air when we went to Manhattan the following week and added our feelings to the Union Square memorial and watched our oldest grandchild write what his young mind could verbalize. I will never forget the confusion in the eyes of the children that day nor the tears when they returned and found that some of our kids had been affected, hit with true losses, not just of innocence, but of people, family and friends.
Last night we all found out that once again we are involved in a war, this time a war with a terrorist state, a state, a movement, that wants to re-establish the seventh century caliphate and indeed return to the brutality of the times then with a touch of modernity in achieving their nasty goals. We hear that there will be a coalition, that it will be waged from above for Americans but we wonder, oh, do we wonder? How long? How limited? How terrible? And how successful? We think of strange allies and question our own sanity and the plans of the President of the United States and we wonder if our leaders can step up to the plate and truly lead. It has been a long time since we have had a true leader.
As for me, I am frightened, not so much for me, but for the next generation or two. What will their world look like? What will their lives be like? Will war actually hit our shores and our land, our homes, for make no mistake about it, they will be here again. So we must hope. We must pray. We must be vigilant. And we must remember those who died on that awful day, a day which simultaneously displayed the lowest bestial instincts of man and its highest elements of heroism. We must remember our men and women of the services who died in the war that has gone on forever since that day and seems to have ended up nowhere but for a loss of so many good people. Take a moment today, close your eyes, bow your head and say a prayer in memory  of the fallen, the slain, and say a prayer for all of us. May we never repeat that day ever again. May we all know peace.

If you type in the following in your address box at the top of the screen, then you will get to a marvelous, emotional website of a real room connected to 9/11. Try it. You might be able to only do a piece at a time as it is quite overwhelming.

NOTHING EVER CHANGES

One might think that somehow the words would have gotten through, that UCO and its administrators would realize that what they want is not the only game in town. but no, the situation is the same, SNAFU! They continue down the same path.
Tomorrow there will be a secretive meeting organized by Ed Black with hand picked people regarding security contracts and about the instillation of cameras. I believe that we ALL have the right to know the details and to give our opinion about the cameras. I, for one, along with many others are not in favor of having Big Brother watching our every step in the Village. I am not in favor of giving PBSO cameras either, so as to ticket us better. I am not in favor of bothering buildings and associations to get easements from them to hang cameras on their buildings. Yes, you see cameras cannot be hung on FPL lampposts so where else - OUR BUILDINGS.
We do not need cameras here. It will not change the situation and who will be watching anyway during the night and during the day and what would be done should something show up. Are we going to pay for more security guards who might actually be under fifty so they could move and stop something? Who is going to watch 19 screens, carefully and attentively? Think before we allow this to happen. Think carefully before you allow your privacy to be invaded and violated. We have already lost the right to free speech and assembly here and now this?
David Israel rages on his blog about the OPT OUT form. Yes, David, there is a form and you have already received several and they are addressed to the UCO officers because that is the proper address so quit your bluster and bombast. Going for this option does not have anything to do with disruptions - except in your mind where anyone who disagrees with you is bad. Tough! It is the choice of the residents and the associations to opt in or out or stay the same - not yours and do not dare to tell people you will cut off their cable. What an asinine thing to say, as if....Have you spoken to Comcast about that? I think you had better and boy, if you even tried , talk about lawsuits - from every side. Be a man and defend your projects properly and follow the mandate given to you, but not one won by threats, lies and intimidation.
And what about the posting that you allowed on your blog this morning, that hateful one with all the statistics, guaranteed to raise the anger of people? Why did it suddenly disappear? Did you tell Betty Bleckman that it had to go? Why allow hate speech in the first place? Not even an apology.
     You are not a dictator.
You are not king of the Village.
You need to resign or be recalled.
     Term limits is the answer.

KEEP YOUR DATA ALL YOURS

The NY Times often has interesting and worthwhile articles related to electronic devices and the world they live in. Yesterday was no exception, and their article, entitled "Keep Your Data All Yours" was quite informative - and instructive - to this Village, as well as to the world in general.
We have just gone through the Target hack and now we have to live through the Home Depot hack. Luckily, we have been clear on both accounts, perhaps because we are proactive with protection sites and apps, but there is no way of knowing for sure. In the meanwhile, unless we all win the lottery and start carrying around bank bags of cash, we must be careful.
I suggest that you all find the article on line and read it. We have already acted on some of its advice and set up our own VPN - virtual private network. This will protect us when we are in an airport, say, or at Starbucks, or at any, ANY, general open network, a public network. Hmmm, sounds familiar. What about the proposed Village Wi Fi system? Well, folks, unless you protect yourself, your streaming data, your confidential information, whatever is on your computer is open to anyone else on the network. Wouldn't that be fun as you sat in the middle of the road on your laptop, watching out for sexual predators and all the while you really had to watch out for virtual predators!
The site WiTopia, a VPN that protects data in transit and encrypts costs about $50 per year and is a great thing to have, across the globe. Yes, you can get a password from DSL or whatever company, but the whole setup is leaky and not thought out properly. It will be VERY slow in peak times of use. Because many of the residents here are not up on all the issues that arise every day in the world of hackers and the solutions that arise as well, David Israel and company do not necessarily fill the residents in on the disadvantages of a Village wide program. At least the association building network is smaller and with your password you should be safe,  or safer. But just remember, nothing is for free, nothing is permanent, and nothing is static in the world of the Internet and computers.
Before you make a costly decision, think about the OPT OUT choice, think about keeping your private Wi Fi, as we have, and let those who wish to have it, have it, and those who have no desire to hookup, well, let them have their rights and decisions. Things and facts are changing swiftly in the Ethernet world so take a breath and let things play out for a while before we plunge headlong into whatever program is out there. We are not disconnected, no matter what garbage someone tries to say.
And for those of you who keep trumpeting that all your devices and programs will now be free - well, think again. FIRST OF ALL, WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PROGRAM HERE IN THE VILLAGE AND THAT WILL MEAN  HEFTY RISES IN OUR FEES.All those programs and connections cost money. Netflix costs. Roku costs. If you cut your cable your Roku will not really work well, and the Roku smart TV will be a tad dumb as it will barely pick up just about only the network channels like NBC and CBS. Privacy costs. Routers cost. Your VOIPE phone system will not work without a phone and only in your home or on your computer. So you will still need a phone when you are out and about. I know phones are getting bigger again, but surely you do not want to lug your laptop or even your Ipad around as your portable phone. Gets a bit clumsy and heavy.Infrastructure costs. Do not let someone try to pull the wool over your eyes. Ask and ask again. Demand real answers, not politician type answers that say nothing and hedge, like, "The information I have, or as far as I know, or what I have been told, and on and on". Leave that to Washington and Tallahassee but let us demand full transparency here, in our home, our Village. It is our right - and our responsibility.
People, a million to two million dollar project is not what we need right now. Why not clean up our other financial issues, plan carefully for the future re the huge road repaving job - again - that we must do - and the walkways, and the project of providing a walkway on both sides of the perimeter so one does not have to cross and recross and while we are at it, what happened to the rumble strips. They were there and then not there! We certainly do not need a commitment to another huge monetary undertaking now. Process, procedure, management principles. Again and again - and yet, we do not have this in the present UCO.

     RESIGNATION OR RECALL.

LET THE TRUTH OUT

There are people in the Village who are walking around telling others that David Israel is the greatest thing since ice cream was invented. He is the lifeblood of this Village, they say, and has won his third term, citing that fact to bolster their statements. Well, let us go with the facts as they are in truth and understand how the Village reached this sad point, the nadir, the low point, to which we have fallen.
In the first election, David Israel won by two votes, yes, two. Not an overwhelming endorsement. In the second election, David was a minority winner. What does that mean? It means that he did not have a true majority of votes, only that he had more than the other two candidates who had, without forethought, split the anti David Israel vote. The two of them together had more votes than David Israel, thus, he was NOT wanted by a majority of the Village. That was a shame, but because that was what happened, there he was again.
Now there were to be two candidates or however many running for president in the last election. It was meant to be two new candidates, not David Israel as term limits applied, but using chicanery and manipulation, waiting till only his non thinking delegates were the only ones around, David Israel overturned what had been fact in the Village since the establishment of UCO - a term limit of two terms and then out into other roles. Term limits is the way to go with all governmental administrations. Just take a look at Palm Beach County and at other governments around the country. It is meant to obviate and nullify any power building by incumbents to the detriment of the electorate, such as our residents. It was meant to allow fresh air, new views, ideas and methods into the government but evidently, not here in CV.
So now we had a truly wrong third term run, scaring people off what with his entrenched power and threats to replace and move people from their positions of "power" unless they supported him and then there was no one to oppose him. Suddenly, though, there was one, an unknown, out of the blue - me. I ran because others asked me too. I ran because David Israel had subverted UCO to his own tool, a Tammany Hall version, corrupt and no good for us. It was an administration that had brought us - and kept us - to physical wrack and ruin with the immensely faulty road and paving job, with awful perimeter walkways that are still uncorrected and actually dangerous. (Talk about lawsuits waiting to happen! Just go take a walk and watch your feet.) It had used shady financial practices and principles, by passed our bylaws and delegates and then turned around and blamed others, including the delegates for the mess we were and are in.
David Israel began to run scared as the opposition to him grew. People were tired of the financial beating we were taking, of the nastiness to be found in UCO itself, at the hubris of this man and of the dishonesty and slick misbehavior by his supporters? puppet master? So, what had he to do? Simple, shut down the gates of discussion. No debates. No WPRF areas to be open to the campaign including the heart of the Village - the Clubhouse. Clubs were threatened with loss of rooms and times if they allowed opposition speakers to visit and speak. Quite a number refused to listen and guess what - they still exist and function. No campaign broadsides were allowed to be distributed. The paper became and still is, now, a rag sheet, a propaganda instrument for David Israel, forgetting the principles of journalism. Anything and everything was done to limit exposure of this unknown candidate,
Yet at election time, 112 votes were garnered and in conditions that were not conducive to an honest and open election, to a transparent balloting system and to the counting of the votes. Nor was there a transparency in allowing for a viewing of the ORIGINAL papers of the election. And why? Simply because there was too much to discover. We had exposed issues during the day and they did not want more to be exposed, for sure.
So now the choice is up to the Village. Do you want this man who has brought us close to financial ruin, who is willing to push us over the top with a million to two million dollars unnecessary and unwanted by many project of Wi Fi, when we already HAVE Wi Fi and can work with other, less costly options? Take a look at the OPT OUT program. It works. It has been used in many associations and others are in the works, but people you must act quickly for your own sakes.Do you want this uncaring and secretive and abusive administration to continue? Do you want this unhelpful administration to continue and leave the residents and associations out in the cold, so to speak?
What to do? Return term limits to the Village ASAP. Engage an outside and impartial agreed upon entity to run the election with no one from the Village having any part in its organization or running. Insist on a proper budget this year, an austerity budget with no unnecessary projects so as to keep the increases in fees to a minimum and to help us climb out of our financial shortfall and actually begin to save money at our old rate of a quarter to a half million dollars a year towards a new road  paving and drainage job, a good one, a real one, a responsible one. The necessity will arise much sooner than we had planned.
Whoever is to run in this next election and the following one - we must allow for fresh blood, new ideas, fresh air. And no, this is NOT a campaign notice. I am just fine being a gadfly, following a proud and long standing American tradition of trying to right the wrongs of ineffective and crooked administrations. And why am I not partaking in UCO, on committees, writing letters and articles for the paper? Ho, ho, ho. Go ask David Israel that. Go ask Joy Vestal that same question. They have unilaterally decided and STATED that I will never be allowed to contribute in that manner. So, time for him and his stooges to go.

       RECALL OR RESIGNATION.

PRIORITIES OF THE VILLAGE

If one sat through the most recent delegate assembly, one realized that there is a serious issue here in the Village. That is the issue of criminals being allowed to rent and/or own within the Village. Sometimes they are related to an owner and move in with them and that is an issue as well. It is quite disconcerting to think that when my grandchildren are here and I allow them to walk to the pool or take a walk somewhere in the Village, or even ride a bike here in the Village, that they are at risk for harm and endangerment. Why is that?
When we bought here in 1998 we liked the fact that it was clean with no animal droppings around. Well, that has changed in a negative manner and while I am no fan of pets, I do understand that there are some pet friendly buildings and that is their right I guess, but the cleanliness MUST be maintained.
The other very important thing we loved about the Village was the safety, perhaps implied by its gates, its security guards and the criminal check. We believed that there was a safe haven here, one which would allow one to walk late at night, alone, returning from a friend's house and certainly it would be a  safe place to have grandchildren visit.
Sadly, we have found that this is a fallacy and while there have been no serious incidents, although perhaps I am mistaken and I seem to remember one attempt to perpetrate an attack on a resident, in any case, we need to remedy this in the future.
David Israel, rightfully so, said that we do not want him to determine who gets to live here in the Village. Could not agree more! He certainly would not have let me in! The boundaries would be in very gray areas and we are not about to cede control of that aspect of our lives here. So, what to do?
I believe that the first thing to do is consult with a lawyer or firm that knows condo law. We are presently rewriting our Declaration of Condominium and are planning to consult with the lawyer about including a ruling barring criminals of violence, property theft, and sexual related crimes. I believe that is what should be done by all associations. Amend your papers with legal consultation and in any case, insist on a criminal investigation into a prospective owner or renter and decide very carefully what you want to do.
This is a priority for the entire Village. Never mind that Wi Fi will supposedly enhance property values.  These same values will plummet if it gets out that this is a haven for criminals and oh yeah, while you are sitting outside in the middle of the road playing Sudoku on your tablet, you might be sexually attacked. Wow, what great publicity that would be!
Why does not UCO tackle this problem for the associations? If we had an ombudsman as we used to, that would have been something under his/her aegis and that of the ombudsman committee. Instead of a Wi Fi committee, why not reanimate this position? Instead of looking how to spend more money we do not have on cameras so that the PBSO could issue more tickets, why not consult a lawyer, a real lawyer, not Rod Tennyson, about this issue. That would provide more security than the cameras which would only invade our privacy. Maybe it could be a UCO by law or at least guide the associations in framing their statements in their declarations and if UCO consulted the lawyer then perhaps all the money by the individual associations would be unnecessary. That is UCO caring for the residents. But that will never happen.
This is only one example of the lack of prioritizing skill that the present UCO president and administration demonstrate. It is more important to them to send Bob Marshall on runs to Costco to buy drinks and cake and candy for the building then to figure out how to truly improve our Village and its safety. (Well, what else is he going to do now that the lightning bolt struck? Now he keeps repeating that fact!)
Why do these postings and sometimes delegate assemblies get hot under the collar at times? Because we are not getting served properly. The needs of the Villagers are being disrespected and ignored in favor of pet projects of administrators. One can spit into the wind only so many times before getting upset at the futility of it all and yet, we do not give up and neither the name calling nor the abuse nor the threats will stop us. You, the residents of the Village, are the beneficiaries of our care and concern for the careful spending of our money, for fair play, for a great place to live. Think about it and join the growing chorus of voices raised in opposition to business as usual.

TWO MOVIES WORTH WATCHING

Pre-warning. If you cry at movies, you will cry with these two. These are two movies that I borrowed from the library, having missed them in the theaters and they are both excellent. One is The Railway Man and the other is Labor Day.
We all remember watching the movie Bridge Over the River Kwai. This movie is closer to the truth and I understand that the book that is coming out will present the brutal truth. It is difficult to watch because it is difficult to see these brave men undergo torture and brutality and yet resist, even merely by the act of continuing to live. The actors perform wonderfully and while I do not necessarily understand nor agree why there was an act of forgiveness, the story is true and powerful. I highly recommend it.
The second movie is one of several of its genre that have come out or are going to be in the theater soon and over the next few months. It is the story of a family crossing paths in their homes with a fugitive of sorts and the relationship that develops. This one was a life changing one and while probably unrealistic in real life, it was well acted and engrossing. I cried at the ending (I am a sap when it comes to the movies and crying) and totally enjoyed it. I totally recommend this one as well.

INTRODUCING THE NEW LEXICON: DAVID ISRAEL EDITION

BLACK BOX WARNING:PLEASE NOTE THAT USE OF THIS LEXICON MIGHT PROVE DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR MENTAL HEALTH, TO YOUR ABILITY TO BE UNDERSTOOD BY PEOPLE LIVING OUTSIDE CV. USE WITH CARE; IN FACT, BETTER NOT TO USE IT AT ALL.

We are living through turbulent times these days, what with the world exploding with extremists and terrorists all over the world, but lest you feel that we are safe here in our little Village, think again. Here our extremists take the shape of the inventors of new words, of new meanings for old words. Beware that you do not fall into the trap of using these words outside the Village lest people think that you need a mental evaluation.
One such term is No Fi. I have searched all over the Internet and yet could find no reference  to this anywhere else other than here. It seems that David Israel, the editor of this new lexicon, thinks that he is using it as an insult to his opponents who propose sanity in connection with his Wi Fi proposal, yet his mental status now comes into play.
Another term is "snipe sign". This one is a bit more dangerous to people as its use indicates a deep seated aversion to the right of free speech, a treasured right of the American people. It derives from an indignant response to two signs in the Village placed legally on association property which urged support for a suit dealing with the awful road job and for the OPT OUT option connected to said Wi Fi proposal. Apparently, in this lexicon and Bizzarro world, to oppose David Israel means to snipe at him, a term usually used when discussing warfare tactics rather than meaning that someone is using the right of free speech. I wonder how all the people who place signs all over the place, be it for a law firm, a hospital, a politician, a product, or whatever, feel about this new definition and anti free speech stand?
Finally, here is a third term for the day - the word "malcontent". David Israel has used it strictly in a pejorative sense, meaning someone who is not satisfied with the status quo and who complains and acts upon it. Well, BACKFIRE!!! We are pleased and proud to be known as "malcontents" as that means we are following in the proud tradition which led to the founding of our country and its improvement over its history as "malcontents" were those groups who provided the impetus for an eight hour work day, minimum wage, union rights, health care, governmental programs during times of need, voting rights for all citizens and not just property holders, women's rights, gay rights, anti discrimination laws including an Amendment and on and on. So "malcontents" we are.
Now let us tackle another problem, one which I am sure will engender great sympathy for me. My Gracie, my not so Amazing Grace says she does not like me and wonders what kind of president I would have made. Well, for sure one who knows that Wi Fi was NOT voted for and I would not have followed her ridiculous stand up there at the assembly where she vehemently said it had been voted for. Really, Gracie, get your facts straight. And, FYI, I would have made a great president because I actually care about the residents of the Village, for their welfare and their rights, for a Village that runs properly, with process and procedure, with proper and skillful management, with proper and careful budgeting that would be ever so careful and aware of ALL our residents and their pockets, with a UCO administration open to ALL, with an Ombudsman who truly would help the residents, not serve as a shill for WPRF and the Levys, with proper pre planning in a timely manner for the new agreements that will have to be negotiated and that will form the lifeline - or not - of our Village and the list can go on and on - Oh, and I would run a FAIR and IMPARTIAL election process under the supervision of an impartial outside entity. Shall I write more? Huh, Gracie? Had enough?
Olga has written well about her pilfered signs on her blog, but let me just add that the rush to say one is innocent of this and the moronic Elaine going so far as to say that Olga stole it herself to cast doubt on The David Israel crew! Truly amazing and graceless. Maybe Grace should join in their litany of stupidity? And DonHoHo, why would you get ever so close to the signs to see their back? Planning a nefarious deed, perhaps? And why immediately say and infer that the signs must have been scavenged so to steal them is fair turnabout? Ever hear of a salvage yard and how they sell salvaged items? Ever hear of people finding things and then repurposing them, such as selling or giving them to other people? I have no clue as to where and how these signs were found, other than the certain belief that they were not illegal, and care only about the message on them, which obviously frightens the whole crew of you and that is good, oh, so, good. Next time, keep all your hands to yourselves and do not destroy the property of others. You are actually doing quite well in that aspect right here in the Village.

ANOTHER LETTER TO IDJIT

     Dear Idjit,
Not only are you trapped in your own toilet by your own words and deeds, but you are extremely tiresome and seem to have a plethora of misinformation. You seem to love to denigrate any one who has any type of belief, a spiritual belief and I have been trying to puzzle you out, just to understand how such a sick person ticks.
I have come to the conclusion that you must have had a miserable childhood for after all, how could even a parent love such a sick individual. I am sorry your potty training was such a tough time for you, so tough that you have to linger in it for the rest of your dirty life and I am sure that when your mommy swatted your butt or took away your baba too early, you continued to regress.
Be that as it may, please go play in traffic or elsewhere. Your ignorant, misspelled, poorly structured and filthy comments are only testaments to your ignorance and obscene mind. I am truly sorry for you that you cannot find comfort in a spiritual outlet, but only know how to lie, make up stories, string together filth and otherwise just take up space better used by other things.
So goodbye, Idjit. Have a nice weekend. Hey, try adult education in the public schools. Maybe you can at least learn how to write so you will not be so boringly ignorant. Cheerio, adios, ciao and good riddance.

BENEATH THE SURFACE

This is going to be a very frank article. It concerns just exactly what is going on here in our Village. It refers to the basic philosophy of the current administration - towards the residents and the maintenance of the Village and the truth and transparency of communication or lack thereof with the residents. These truths  might be hurtful for some to read, but here they are.
Yesterday, David Israel sent out one of his IFI emails, which, in itself, is a good thing as information is passed on. However, I wonder how many people even read them or just click them off. But one in particular in yesterday's caught my eye and seemed to exemplify the attitude of the current UCO president. These are the minutes of the August 6, 2014 committee meeting of  Program and Services, which basically goes around to the pools and other WPRF venues and reports on their conditions. Don Foster actually submitted quite a detailed minutes report, detailing the enormous amount of things gone wrong and/or being neglected in these areas. Eva was on the hot seat the entire time and we constantly see the phrase, "This report was acknowledged and noted by Ms. Rachesky."
This detailed minutes report is wonderfully informative, too much so for the chair, Fausto Fabbro, and David Israel and made them too uncomfortable for this truth to out, and they suggested that the detail in minutes needs to be curtailed. "Only what was done, not what was said" according to David Israel and must be kept to one page.
Well, really, where are these rules written? Why are they so afraid of detail? Perhaps because the truth will out and we will see how neglected our property, our Village, is becoming despite all the moneys we pay into WPRF for its upkeep? Why are we paying thousands of dollars for pickleball when the basics at the pools, on Duck Island, and elsewhere are being neglected?

And what is Eva's response to all this? She
".... reminded Committee of budget constraints and the necessity of prioritizing projects with resident
use in mind. Ms. Rachesky also mentioned that she is considering proposal to Operations Committee of a new "all-inclusive" landscaping vendor that would handle projects like the above mentioned. Cost increase for new contract would be significant, but would combine landscaping, irrigation, pest control, and other special project work that is now charged "al a carte".
Is this the answer? More and more money, a more expensive contract? And why would it be more expensive if it is combined with other aspects for which we now pay separately? When things are combined it generally runs to a net savings, not to be more costly. But this appears to be a Bizzarro land where things are the opposite of what should be.
On top of this proposed increase from WPRF David Israel is still pushing for an increase in budget to UCO for the Wi Fi proposal, unnecessary and costly! How deep does this man think our pockets are? How many of us can afford to keep up with this constant rise in fees?
I have been told, and told often, by adherents of David Israel, that the people in the Village are stupid, too dumb to understand what is going on. They do not care about anything except that they can go to their pools and shows and then leave them alone. In other words, all they care is that "the trains run on time" and thus David Israel and company have free reign to grossly mismanage our Village.
I do not believe this. I believe that the residents just need for the truth to be told, for transparency to have its role in UCO. I believe that they understand the need for process and procedure, for the principles of management to be applied to  UCO and the administration of the Village. I believe they understand that this situation cannot continue and that the pools and the shows will no longer be there if this situation keeps rolling along.
I have faith in the residents, if only they will be told the truth and if only they will be open to hearing it.
Reread this posting and understand what we are getting and not getting here in the Village. David Israel and company MUST go!

NOW YOU'VE GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN!

Awwww, David Israel, now you've gone and done it again. Just about every time I think there might actually be a sign, a hint, of some goodness buried deep down inside of you, you go and crush it with one of your obnoxious remarks that are totally uncalled for. However, these remarks do show the nastiness that is bubbling and boiling inside you all the time.
So Olga had two signs out on the  property of the associations, meaning that as long as they agreed, any removal of said signs is a criminal matter. Plain and simple, it is theft. It is not a huge financial expense, though signs do cost, but what it indicates is far, far worse. It shows the world that you and your coterie cannot stand any opposition at all and will go beyond the legal limits to destroy your opposition. You have engaged in character smearing, threats, and now someone has gone into theft. Lovely, just lovely. Says a lot about the bunch of you.
But what bothers me even more, is the comment you put on your stooge's blog, Elaine's blog. Yes, that Elaine who seems to have trouble controlling what comes out of her mouth or should I say out of her typing hands. So, your comment alleged that property values will go up in that quadrant because the signs were removed thus de-ghettoizing that area.
Truly, David Israel, you have outdone yourself. One sign said to OPT OUT, nothing racial or religious there and the other said support the suit against UCO and David Israel. Nope, nothing racial or religious there so please, my dear David Israel, please explain how that ghettoizes the area. Please then go and explain that to all the people and candidates who place signs for their favorite politician on lawns and along the roads, on billboards, etc. Is it that you are challenging the entire free speech movement? Stupid of me, of course you are, as you do not allow any free speech forums to exist here in the Village and are aided in that repressive movement by WPRF.
So, let us go back to the ghetto remark. David Israel, you are Jewish and therefore should know that the term ghetto originated in Venice several hundred years ago when and where Jews were shut up in a poor and crowded area from dusk to dawn, with a locked gate and armed guards and with badges and/or hats to be worn. This expanded to the rest of Europe and culminated in the infamous ghettos of Nazi controlled Europe and even into North Africa for a while. So, David Israel, how are those signs leading to that? And if you mean that there are other areas, poorer socio - economic areas that are presently called ghettos, well, please explain that to the residents of that quadrant that they are designated as such by you. Or, perhaps you mean even worse, with overtones of racial or religious lines being hinted at.
Yes, you've gone and done it again, David Israel. You opened your nasty mouth and inserted your foot, several feet. Is it that dementia , that losing control that is striking once more? A lack of control over what comes out of one's mouth is a sign. Please, watch your mouth. Leave race and religion and all nasty terms out of this. Take opposition to yourself and your policies on a professional, rather than personal basis but know, every time you color out  of bounds, well, no more need be said.
Have a good day, David Israel. Think carefully. Act carefully. For all our sakes.

So, I received another nasty email basically forbidding me to talk about these signs and telling me I had better not compare these signs to anything else. Well, really now! I never compared anything until your lord and master, David Israel, said that the signs ghettoized the Village quadrant over there. Those are HIS WORDS, not mine. Just go look on the stooge's blog and see David Israel's own words. So sorry, nutjob, I will say what I want and however I want and if I disagree with your lord and master, tough and by the way I do not give a flying **** whether you like my attitude towards my religion or not.So go to hell.

THE USE OF REFLECTION IN GOVERNMENT

Just came across an apt quote from John Masefield from his "On Growing Old".
"Only stay quiet, while my mind remembers
The beauty of fire from the beauty of embers."

So what does this have to do with government and what does this have to do with UCO? Simple. We are at that stage of life where we should understand that the rashness of youth is often not the correct manner in which to proceed. Sometimes one has to take the time  necessary to think things through and after that is done, proceed on the chosen path. That is often the most productive method as problems, needs, and obstacles are anticipated and prepared for.
If we had done this with important projects to the Village, think how much better off we would be. The road and paving problem would be non existent, the fence or version of it would be up at Southampton, we would have our reserves properly funded, our payments to UCO would have been in a better place, WPRF would be more understanding of what makes for a good Village and what does not, we would not be rushing off headlong into another future debacle with the Wi Fi proposal and Bob Marshall would not be dispensing faulty information out at UCO.
FYI, Bob, the right of first refusal is not a definite given in any association. One must check their documents to see if and how it functions in a particular association. Some have it and some don't ,so go tell someone that the association has the right without checking their documents - major boo boo.
Fyi, David Israel, we would not be rushing off into this new contract because of a frustration that the first contract that you wished to sign was faulty and WE, your opposition, loyal to the Village and its residents and not to our personal desires and wishes, pointed out the problems with it and you had to back down. You quickly set off a new round with the basic emotion of "Nerts! I'll get you, my pretties!" With the financial situation we are in at present, with the need to start already, for Pete's sake, planning for the post Millennium agreement and the cost that will incur as a result, with fees already rising, and with all those who want Wi Fi having it via Comcast or U-verse, why are we rushing into another huge financial obligation now? Of all times!
What we are saying, and the voices saying this grow larger and louder, is reflect, think, take the time to properly evaluate, hear all points of view with an open mind, stop trying to trash talk those who oppose you as Luddites or no fi people. We all have Wi Fi but do not see the need of your proposal or see another option via association by association as their residents wish.
Obama says his philosophy of government is, "Don't do anything stupid." Dumb, but perhaps it might work if it were thought through, but he seems to then say he has not formulated his policy yet. That is why we cannot seem to make up our minds as to how to deal with ISIS and the whole terrorist and terrorism area. So we bomb and then pull back. We appease and then threaten but do not act on the "red lines". We, in the Village, need to be a tad more proactive than that and not either drift into something that will prove to be harmful or plunge headlong into the same type of mess. Reflection, thought, anticipation, future planning and consequences - that is what we should be doing and that is all we have been trying to get thru to you,  - us and a growing chorus. Contemplate the beauty of thought, the beauty of planning and then the beauty of a plan well laid out and executed will be that much more evident and appreciated. Now that is a legacy to be proud of.

HAPPY TO SEE....

I am happy to see that David Israel has acknowledged and taken responsibility for misstating the issue of the budget year and the fiscal year. Perhaps he is learning that responsibility, once accepted upon one's shoulders, is the proper way to go. Now if we could only get this to continue such as with the road job and extend into the future with this ridiculous Wi Fi proposal at this time and even simply for the mostly do nothing record of UCO under his presidency.
I also see that he has begun to think of the next election and his possible opponents, or opponents of more of his little controlled dummies and has allowed that weasel, Mike, to post a nasty statement with nothing behind it, after it or with it, about a person that David Israel does not like. However, a question arises, if we use the term "dead wood" then perhaps one had better be prepared for it to backfire. For example - let us name some dead wood in the present administration - Phyllis Siegelman with nothing to report, Pat Sealander, also with nothing ever to report, Bob Marshall who is so happy that his lightning bolt has finally struck and all the rest of the blather that goes on in committees while nothing, in a practical manner, ever gets done. Ever see the fence by Southampton? Ah, that's right. It never was built - nothing was ever built and now they are talking about cameras. C'mon. With better organization we could have foreseen the issues there and been prepared for them and some kind of additional protection could have been erected by now.
Listen carefully about and to all proposed items. There are times that thinking must be done before approving or disapproving of an item. If I had not gone home and thought about this whole budget and fiscal year and David's chortling and his misuse of the paragraph about fiscal year, and then written about it,what would he have done then? Nothing, and simply gone on in his path of trying to pull one over our eyes. He was just that much too happy in that committee meeting where he first pushed it, thinking he had gone and done it again. I am just wondering about his motivation?

THE 6TH EXTINCTION BY JAMES ROLLINS

This latest book by James Rollins has finally achieved the recognition it deserved. James Rollins is the author of many books, primarily the Sigma Force series of novels. Do not be fooled by that name. It is not a standard military story. Instead, it is the ongoing story of a wonderful bunch of recurring characters who have the most marvelous adventures one can imagine and are not always escaping unharmed.
These are whacking great stories, adventure with the bit of a scientific element which leaves one wondering, "Can it be?" At the end of each novel James Rollins outlines many of his science sources and their places in his story. In this, his latest novel, he has outdone himself. I actually think this is his best to date and am awaiting his next, which he promises will be forthcoming.
What I most love about these novels is that besides being a great story, and enjoying watching characters develop, is the fact that they always leave me thinking, worrying, and asking myself questions. This particular story deals with the cutting edge of DNA, RNA, artificial DNA, and areas, where, truthfully, I do not believe that man should wander. There has to be a delineation between man and his G-d and when we mess with that, when we create life in an unnatural manner, such as trying to de-extinct certain forms of life, or combine DNA in such a manner as to create weird and dangerous hybrids, when some of our cutting edge and beyond labs can venture into areas better left alone - then we have real problems. Morality needs to be a functioning part of scientific endeavor or else we have what we really do not want again.
The 6th Extinction is a, fast paced, in both writing and time elapsed in the novel and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I will not tell you the story as then why read it and why spoil your enjoyment as things unfold but I recommend this book and indeed, the previous ones. They are easily available in the library either on the shelves or by reserve. Read, enjoy, think and worry.
